Are we really that unlucky?

I don't believe in luck, I believe in chance.

We have had our chances many times over the season to take games or put them to bed and have simply let the opportunity go by - and then when something stupid happens it effects us negatively.

Good players take their chances, good managers help them to see them and give them the confidence to grasp the opportunity.

I'm not seeing either.

I wonder if Holloway reckons he's lucky, punk.

Go ahead Olllie, on Saturday, make my day (because I reckon you're now drinking in the last chance saloon).

If we were playing good football and still having bad results, then yes we are unlucky. But thats not the case.

When we do play, we are good. When we play hoof ball, we are poor.

we are not unlucky, we are cursed

one of the construction workers at the walkers stadium buried a nottingham forest shirt beneath the pitch ,

As fans "we" are unlucky (some more so than others). As for the managers and player luck is just an excuse.

4 or five years of rubbish players, managent and decisions by owners and boards, is the problem not luck.

We are cursed, Yesterday I was trying to work out where we were going wrong, I couldn't figure it out, No matter what manager, No matter what players we're awful and have been for years, That would then lead you to say it's something 'inside' the club, but last year as we all know we had a new Chairman and he has made quite a few changes inside the club, so I really can't explain it.

People will say we're unlucky with bad referees e.t.c, bullshite, as Daggers originally said good players make their own chances and take them, Tuesday night Fryatt was offside twice, how can we call that being unlucky with referees? Fair enough I did not see much wrong with the third 'goal' but whats our excuse for conceading? And if we hadn't of conceaded would we have made that third chance?

Watched the third goal on virgin media today and someone flicks it on with their hand so that was right too.

We are not unlucky. We are not cursed. You make your own luck in life. When we get the right manager, the right players with the right mentality the results will come. Ollie may be that man.

We are not unlucky. We have an ingrained lack of confidence and negativitiy which will take a couple of years of stability and gradual squad improvement to get rid of. No quick fixes. Time.

Not unlucky, during a game had 3 dissallowed goals, a terrible refferee, loads of penalties decisions not given, hit the bar 20 times and still won the game, no-one would mention luck!!!

Anyone know how many goals we've conceded in the last 5 mins this season?

Should be in the last programme stats. In fact... gimme a sec...

*nips over to OS*

Nope, that's rubbish - just tells you the top scorers (Hume - get him back in the middle in front of the goal!!!)

Aha! On the Footbal365 site it says 6 goals in the last 5 mins... out of 34 in total. That's nearly 20% of our goals conceeded in the last 5 mins. Smacks of lack of confidence that!

NB - On current form over the last 8 games, we are 16th. At least we're not in freefall like Southampton!

That's a relief, I forgot to wear lucky punk t-shirt.

I agree but we don't have two years to put it right. Furthermore with the right leadership, both on and off the field, it could be sorted tomorrow.

i suppose, if anything, the 'luck' element, at least in this example, is whether the lines man gets it right or wrong, i'm guessing that at least one (or more) of the disallowed goals was borderline, on another day, a different lino and they could have not been spotted, but in the long run it should even out - if we are an 'unlucky club' the argument would have to be that these 'judgement calls', that could go either way, aren't evening out as much as for other teams...

no one has really mentioned the backpass, were we 'unlucky' that that wasn't given...anyone?

If we change manager before the end of the season we won't be unlucky, we'll be stupid.

never stopped us before :P;)

we are unlucky but the main factor is that we have nobhead refs

Absolute rubbish. The MAIN reason we are not winning games is nothing to do with refereing standards. Admittadly they haven't been great recently but they single handedly are not making us concede / not score goals. It doesn't help matters at this time but I'm sure every other club in the championship has had just as many bad refs as us.
