Bad refereeing this season has cost us at least ten points. It's made the difference between being in the comfort of midtable (with an outside shout of the playoffs) and the relegation dogfight we're now in.

In addition, the league's refusal to dock Sheffield Wednesday points last week for a clear breach of rules suggests they would not be displeased to see us take the drop.

Other teams have also had dreadful decisions go against them which have cost them points.

Swings and roundabouts.

Awwww, we're so hard done by, poor us.

Your living in dream land if you think we'd be in with and outside shout of the playoffs with these poor excuses of footballers.

As for Sheff Wed, Leeds didn't get docked point last year for doing exactly the same, Leeds did get docked points (For administration I think) but certainly not for breach rules in the same circumstances as Sheff Wed.

But rightio theres and embargo against us, someone doesn't like us, the whole world is against us :frusty::doh::rolleyes:

Exactly.

The most ridiculous thing is that if it was the other way round, we'd have all been screaming for a penalty and Ultra would have added it to his ludicrous catalogue of refereeing errors that have supposedly cost us 10 points this season.

It was a frustrating decision but to suggest that the league want us relegated or that refs dislike us for some reason is a delusional fantasy.

Thank-Fuk someones agreed with me.

That fact is really annoying me at the moment, Whenever a player from the opposing team stands next to one of our players everyones screaming "foul" then when the referee doesn't give it get shouted at - "Cheat, Cheat, Cheat". (Maybe i'm exaggerating when I say an opposing player standing next to ours but it's not a huge exaggeration)

Its like our fans think they deserve something, like the referee owes it to us. :nono:

Yes you get bad referees, but so does everyone else, I didn't see anyone moaning about the referee after the West Brom match. Coincidence?

As I said the other day i'm getting abit sick and tired of all this "Respect the referee" nonsense in the media at the moment, why can't a player question him when he honestly thinks he's done nothing wrong, but at the same time I wish our fans would take the blue-tinted glasses off.

It wasn't for administration. Read this thread that you started

Leeds didn't get docked points when they breached the rules. They can't be seen to be changing the rules to suit different teams. If one punishment is handed out to one team, it must be handed out to another team for the same breach.

To put it simply, we've been shite this season. We've been far too inconsistent. Fact. You can't blame this on the referees.

Ok, but the argument still stand that Leeds didn't get deducted points for breach the league rules over loan signings though.

True, I just get annoyed when people say that Leeds get docked points for Administration

Yeah but Leeds still lost the game, whereas Sheffield Wednesday won the game with too many loan players on.

Who wins a 1-1?

Leeds breached the rules on loan players, but as they lost the game in question anyway they escaped with a fine. In Wednesday's case, one of the players scored the goal that earned his side a draw and a valuable point.

And as I recall, several of these "poor excuses of footballers" contributed to promotion-winning campaigns last season. Others are deemed good enough to represent their countries at international/youth level.

There have been so many dismal referees in our games this season that it is no longer possible to dismiss their behaviour as pure coincidence.

The breach of rule occurred when the teamsheet was submitted, not when the loan players came onto the pitch.

I'm not the one of those to be shouting foul if its not or saying the ref crap if he gives something against us. But that one on saturday was a disgrace. IF there was any contact at all it was 5 yards outside the box, the linemans wasn't up with play either and it was him not the ref(who was alot closer than his linesman) who gave the pen. though as you say officials make mistakes.

That one however ruined a game in which sheff utd hadn't looked like having a shot in until the penalty was given.

Referring decision are not why we are down where we are, but one like the one on saturday certainly don't help matters.

They wouldn't make elementary mistakes if the technology were introduced that's available to help them. And I wonder if distant linesmen would be nearly so quick to signal things that haven't happened if they knew their judgement would be put to the test.

There are examples every game. Ronaldo's penalty claim for hands yesterday and the offside decision against Rooney when he was put through to score.

Hairline offsides are a lottery and officials have no chance because are effectively having to look in two places at once. Technology can do that and I fail to see why the authorities are so reluctant to bring in solutions to what are everyday problems.

So if we are relagated and Sheff W stay up by one point then what happens? (assuming our GD is still better)

Or is this the plan from the FL?

Hmmmm...

the only reason i would say is you can't have this Technology on all levels, at the moment even on a sunday morning you have the same a ref and 2 linesmen (if you can get 12 players that is).

I know its not as important, but the thing about football is that it is the same game (all be it a better standard) on all levels, with technology added at the higher levels it no longer is that.

That could have been said of Rugby & Cricket, has it had an adverse affect on these grassroot sports :dunno:

Agreed, was just a thought.

I'm like you I think in two minds. I can see the advantages but I just suspect it will create as many problems as it solves, I really doubt all issues will be clear cut and arguments cease. Even with TV replays it's still difficult in many cases to determine 'was he pushed' or 'did he dive'.

Ironically, in many cases it's actually technology that is exposing/creating the problem as I'm sure it's always been there but largely went unnoticed as fans and managers had, in most cases no more idea than the officials as to what really happened.

More excuses  It was very close but it looked as if Kisnorbo clipped Sharp's heels and so it was a penalty  He said the same about the Cov peno which was definitely a peno aswell. It was a bit obvious when Kisnorbo was putting his hands all over Billy Sharp.

Officiating is a very difficult job, any help for them should be analysed and dfully tested to see it's benefits!!
