volpeazzurro Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 In my opinion if we stay up, Ian Holloway should keep his job in my opinion. He hasn't done a great job this year, but he has built a considerably better squad. As I'm sure everyone realises, he's just not got any consistancy or confidence out of them. Part of me worries that this might continue next year, but I don't think you can presume that and for me IF we stay up he should be the man for next season. However, if we are relegated, what are people's thoughts on Holloway. Should he be instantly sacked? Or should we go for the stability option and hope he can bring us straight back up to The Championship? Personally, I think Ollie has built a squad which has easily enough quality in it to stay up and threre for if we go down I wouldn't be confident enough in Ollie's abilities to get the best out of a group of players to keep him in charge. What are people's thoughts on this? He may well have built a better sqad of players BUT he is tactically hopeless , plays 'his squad' out of position and in innappropriate formations (is he McClaren in disguise?) and clearly doesn't instill much oomph in them! Therefore. whilst he bought in some decent players, he doesn't know what to do with them! Better off without the media seeking plonker!
Micky Ruddle Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 I'm not worried for his job. I think he is safe.
richie1880 Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 Im going to spend the next few weeks with my fingers crossed that other teams can do us a favour!.......However, the answer to the question is simple.......Ollie must remain in charge if the boys cant keep us up. He clearly has a vision of where he believes the club should be (definately not this end of the table or lower!!!), and i firmly believe he is the man to deliver..........he must be given the summer to continue his clear out of some of the "dead wood" as he called it, and cement together the boys that he wants running around the park doing us proud. Milan must bite his tongue and the axe until at least Xmas time to see where we are???????
Ultra Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 I am genuinely shocked and dismayed that so many alleged City fans are suggesting that in the event of Holloway overseeing the most spectacular, catastrophic failure in the history of our club, he should actually be REWARDED! He's had a fair share of ill-luck with injuries and poor referees. But ultimately the money he's had to spend on strengthening the squad means there can be NO excuses for finishing outside the top 21 of an unbelievably weak league. He may act the clown, as he did on Saturday with the shoes off brigade. This however should not be used to obscure the fact that he is way out of his depth. The sooner he is invited to spend more time with his family (or more likely, his media buddies), the better!
Ric Flair Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 Not overly bothered right now. If we go down though, i'd find it hard to find the faith to stick by Holloway. I don't even want to think about relegation it would be sick.
Leonisco Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 Who we get in after Ollie, i haven't got a clue. Exactly. What we need right now is stability, keeping Ollie will give us that platform which we must then build on. And, as you (possibly inadvertently) pointed out, I can't really think of anyone who could come in and do a better job that is a) available and b) would come to us in our current situation. He must stay.

Thracian Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 I am genuinely shocked and dismayed that so many alleged City fans are suggesting that in the event of Holloway overseeing the most spectacular, catastrophic failure in the history of our club, he should actually be REWARDED! It is extraordinary. No goals scored in 10 of his last 17 games, with his team, is not the sort of advert I'd want to have promoting me. The fact that he has signed better players yet done even worse than before is hardly a recommendation either. For me we still have too many old hindrances still unresolved, too little pace, too many tactical errors, too little determination, insufficient goals threat in the side generally, certain perpetual weaknesses and not enough individual ability to get behind people and put the ball in the net nor enough people supporting attacks quickly and consistently. In fact, despite our shortcomings being so glaringly obvious our manager puts up with things he simply shouldn't be tolerating. It all starts with attitude. I wonder if there has been an inquest this morning about the reserves defeat at Port Vale? Because there damn well would have been at my club. Whether their goalkpeeper had a blinder or not. Players have got to feel real hurt when they lose - this friendly family football club we seem to promote pisses me off. The only thing that counts at a professional football club is winning. For me it would have to be winning with style as well, but winning would be a start and that means from the youngest team right through to the first team. That way it becomes a habit. We don't have that attitude at all. Otherwise we wouldn't have gone messing around against Charlton for a start and a host of other things I could mention.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 I have to admit it's one thing giving him till the end of the season but if he takes us down then thats not acceptable.
Flynny Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 I cant think of anyone who would do a worse job, He must go when his contract runs out in summer ... His contract doesn't run out in the summer. He signed a 3 year contact. Not only that but we signed a perfectly competent football manager whose personal strengths were well matched to our particular weaknesses. If we go down he does have to go, thats a given, but if we stay up he gets until christmas for me unless we're floundering in 22nd come November.
TrickyTrev Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 I don't want him next season if we stay up or otherwise. He's been an inept clown since he has been here and is way out of his depth. Any manager that has the amount of money to spend that he has had and can't come in the top 21 of a terrible league doesn't deserve a job. Can't believe how easily people are taken in by his antics.
mancunianfox Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 Even if we stay up we should get rid of him. He has done nothing impressive since he came here even though he has signed enough players (quantity-wise) to have made his mark on the tea. He hasn't done that. He changes the side every week and we continue to look unsettled...like a team of strangers, just as we did on the very first game of the season. We look no more like a team than we did when he arrived. Our points tally has been pitiful under Holloway and his desire to throw himself in front of the nearest tv camera and behave like a complete tosser is getting increasingly irritating as well. We sacked Levein and Kelly when we were worried that we would go down yet Holloway looks like taking us down and the majority on here would still keep him even though he has done nothing to warrant the kind of backing that he is getting...! I'm amazed, I really am.
Father Ted Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 If he takes us down he needs shooting. We were safe until he came.
Nod.E Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 People moan at Milan for not stabalising the club. And what good would another manager do? Keep him.

hazytex Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 If your all happy with further mediocrity and continued decline then by all means keep Holloway. I however, want success and do not crave further years of abject failure with him in charge. He is not and never will be the man to take the club forward and it's a pity some people set their sights so low.
step Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 People moan at Milan for not stabalising the club. And what good would another manager do?Keep him. We could win some games
Fat Ron Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Stay up or go down, The question is, who would we get to replace him?
Koke Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Stay up or go down, The question is, who would we get to replace him? People don't look and think beyond that when they are screaming Holloway Out till they got a soar throat. If we go down and we get rid then fair do's. But if we stay up there are still people who want him gone, but they can't name us one potential replacement. Look at us, we linked with Kevin Blackwell ffs. At best we are a mediocre Championship side, at worst we are ****ing bunch of hopeless c*nts. People say they want a manager who have been promoted from this league. Fair do's, lets get Gary Megson back shall we? Look through this division and tell us what managers like Gary Johnson, Phil Brown and Jim Magilton have achieved prior to this season. Johnson was getting sacked wherever he went until he arrived at Yeovil. Phil Brown is a sheep shagger reject and Jim Magilton is a rookie manager who has done well for himself. Its all well and good saying sack Holloway, but looking at the other available managers, I'd rather keep Holloway if I'm honest.

The sooner he is invited to spend more time with his family (or more likely, his media buddies), the better! Surely we're in as bad a situtation now as the same time last season when MM booted out RK and replaced him with Wortho... Yet we have talks of whether IH should keep his job if he gets us relegated because that makes complete sense I know i'll probably get slated for this but personally I'd get rid of Ollie regardless of whether we stay up or go down because IMO Ollies out of his depth. I gave him the benefit of doubt until now as the situtation is getting quite serious, quite quickly. We do look like this could be the season of relegation and yet Ollie still appears to be acting like a clown, blaming officials, trying to sign up more loan signing because the players he already brought in are useless and using every excuse available but he isn't kicking the over-paided players a***s into playing football with some passion and pride for us instead of doing a douglas and just sponging off us!!! We all know that we have serious problems and IMO we need a manager with more experience, somebody whos been around the block abit like Warnock and doesn't take the kind of s*** we see week in, week out from the players. As much as I love our club, I don't think I could take too much more of these terrible seasons, scrapping in a relegation dogfight any more. Enoughs enough. But with Ollie at the helm we're far too inconsistant and once we go down by a goal, well forget getting any points. With us not getting enough wins, do we really need a manager that can't get his team to score for another season?? So the sooner Ollies gone, the better for me. As for replacements, why not bring back Adams. Or as everybody keeps talking about rookies try Walsh, he can't do any worse any Ollie.
General lee Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 If we go down, then yes but sacking him now wouldn't do any good. I think he has had enough time and money and we shouldn't be were we are. Then start again in the summer if we do go down.
Dr The Singh Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Not thought about relegation, the only thing on my mind at the moment is sex, women and what will be on the dinner table tonight!! If we get relegated, the emotions will decide for themselves!!!
