Poor form, sad news :( Hate hearing stuff like this.

Sounds like it could be "firm" related.

What honestly motivates people to fight over a football match? What pleasure do they get out of it?

Very sad news indeed, R.I.P.

Feel for the family at this moment

Sad News is definitely firm related i believe it was Aston Villas leader too who was knocked down if not then it was his younger brother i just hope theres not revenge.

Also heard of a stabbing in a pub brawl that erupted but theres not been much news about that.

Can confirm it was due to Blues fans.

I have a mate at uni, who went to the game and he saw it happen. The lad who died was a friend to his friend. Terrible, really is.

So i dont get it.

1-Did the Villa fans blatantly run him over just cos he was a Bluenose?

Or was it really just an accident?

Either way its a tragedy for anyone to goto see their team and never return home.

If it was 1...then the cvnts should be hanged!

They're both Villa fans - this has nothing to do with one team attacking the other.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an Aston Villa fan who was fatally struck by a car after the Birmingham football derby.

The 26-year-old was hit by a Volkswagen Golf in Aston Hall Road, close to Villa Park, after his team's Premier League 5-1 win over Birmingham City.

He suffered multiple injuries and was taken by ambulance to Birmingham's City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

West Midlands Police said the arrested man is also an Aston Villa fan.

They said he was in custody and being questioned over the incident, which took place at about 1500 BST on Sunday.

Leroy Howe, who lives near the crash scene, said he "heard a loud bang" as he watched television in his kitchen.

When he went to the shops about 15 minutes later he said he saw a damaged car and believed someone had been knocked over.

"It was very calm, I don't think a lot of people realised what was going on," he said.

"All I saw was somebody on the pavement there in a distressed state and I realised he had been knocked over.

"And some ambulance people were attending to him - giving him oxygen and resuscitating him."

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it received a number of emergency calls about the incident.

A spokesman said a man was treated at the scene for multiple serious injuries and transferred to hospital.

"Unfortunately despite the best efforts of ambulance crews, and then hospital staff nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead shortly after arrival at hospital," he added.

So it was nothing sinister?

Just an unfortunate tragic accident?

Some people like a ruck, I think its hard for youngsters thesedays to understand, but back in the day it was common place, loads of lads together and I have to say the trouble usually just involved running towards people, it was the adrenaline rush of the whole thing. Kids arent interested in that these days but i guess instead of going to the football they hang out on street corners, theres too many distractions these days but going to the football back in the day was what every kid and fights were what a lot went for, well around my way it was like that, plus a whole different type of fan goes to games these days so its hard for them to understand.

But thats a little different from getting in a car and driving into someone, pure stupidity, hope it was accident but dont think that would be much comfort for the family.

RIP.

well if thats the case why have the police been so quick to use the word murder.

If it's the average policemen at a football match in this present day, then they're probably after reasons to lay into some of the fans.
