Nosowicz Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Did these awards I have heard spoken of happen after the game last night Who won ? IS there anyone on here who went and could share with us the "atmosphere" of any Leicester player winning yesterday?
Ultra Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 It was a Supporters Club do. The official dinner with sponsors etc is next week. Apparently (according to Talking Balls), Kisnorbo won Player Of The Year.
Samilktray Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Lathaniel Rowe-Turner won academy player of the year. I was told by some one who was apparently there.
Thracian Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Lathaniel Rowe-Turner won academy player of the year. I was told by some one who was apparently there. Well done to them. Both have had solid seasons. However, it is surely a reflection of much that is wrong at Leicester City, that two Player of the Season awards go to almost exclusively defensive centre-backs.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Well done to them. Both have had solid seasons. However, it is surely a reflection of much that is wrong at Leicester City, that two Player of the Season awards go to almost exclusively defensive centre-backs. Andy King got goal of the year (Nominations where King Vs Southampton, Hume vs watford, hendrie vs S****horpe and two of howards against west brom) Gareth Macauley got disabled supporters club player of the year Mattock got young player of the year
Finnegan Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Well done to them. Both have had solid seasons. However, it is surely a reflection of much that is wrong at Leicester City, that two Player of the Season awards go to almost exclusively defensive centre-backs. Matty Elliot or Stevie Walsh never won such awards? I don't think having defensive players shining is necessarily an indexical sign of poor football or poor performance, to be honest. Take Arsenal for example. Pre-collapse, they were on course to win the league with some terrific attacking talent. You'd still have been lining up Gallas as one of their players of the season. If you want a "reflection of much that is wrong at Leicester City", you want to look at the fees we payed for DJ Campbell and Steve Howard.
Simi Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 In a way I agree. But there isn't many times the supporters can interact with the players these days(not that many would want to I reckon!) I didn't vote for the player of the year, but I did vote for the goal that won-Andy King's v Southampton. Joe Mattock won the Young Player award and Gareth McAuley won the Player of the Year award from the Disabled SC. We were half expecting them not to turn up, as normally the players start arriving about 8ish and coming up to 9pm none were there, then we found out Holloway wanted them all to arrive together(safety in numbers?) and most of them buggered off within 1/2 hour after the presentation. Spoke to Kisnorbo, asked him about his injury, jokingly asked if he'd be fit for next week. aparently until they get the results back, they don't know yet if it's his cruciate-if it is it's a hefty spell on the sidelines. Holloway was joking away as he normally does doing the awards but he did seem very quiet when talking to the fans and signing autographs etc. I was very good and didn't show Ben up by making any comments which might've got me into trouble. As tempting as it was! I took my mates kids round to get photos and autographs of them all before they feck off elsewhere apart from Steve Howard(useless lump) Matt Oakley scrubbed up very nicely though....... From Talking Balls.

But all forwards need service, and Leicester haven't had a creative player since Muzzy Izzet

Maybe that was just a speech before thought reaction.....
EmLeee Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I was there last night and it was rubbish compared to other years and understandably so. Hume summed everything up nicely when he said that he hopes that Southampton lose both their games so we don't have to win next weekend. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's not the right attitude is it?

Top notch
Thracian Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Correct! But all forwards need service, and Leicester haven't had a creative player since Muzzy Izzet Not as good as Izzet but they've got/had creative players, Gradel, Andy King, Shush! and Beswick. They've just chosen not to use them. We've preferred Clapham, Oakley, Mattock and even N'Gotty on occasions. Can't be bothered to add up the goals/assists they've got between them but two of the alternatives have more goals/assists on their own than the four named have got added together.
Thracian Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 That would have been my goal of the season too. Top notch No more than he deserved in a season that was wasted for him.
Tommeh Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 They were all up loughborough in vice at 12. Even Barry and sappleton. Had a quick word with Ash. Chambers and Hume probably the only 2 a could have said a kind thing about after yesterday!

Matt Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 they are human ffs they are allowed a life They should all be on the feckin dole, and come 4 O'Clock May 4th 2008 hopefully they all will be out of work and their footballing careers ended.
Bert Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Kisnorbo - Player of the season. McAuley - Disabled supporters player of the season. Rowe-Turner - Academy player of the season. Mattock - Young player of the season. King - Goal of the season.
dandannieldanok Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Gareth Macauley got disabled supporters club player of the year McAuley - Disabled supporters player of the season. What a strange award to have, do disabled supporters have different views about things to the rest of us. Very weird.
syston_fox Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 It was a Supporters Club do. The official dinner with sponsors etc is next week. Probably on the saturday night before the Stoke game knowing our club!
Nationwider Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 What a strange award to have, do disabled supporters have different views about things to the rest of us. Very weird. Apparently the blind contingent voted heavily for McAuley this year.
James. Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 What a strange award to have, do disabled supporters have different views about things to the rest of us. Very weird. I feel discriminated. I demand a Tall Supporters Award next time.
Bert Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Probably on the saturday night before the Stoke game knowing our club! I actually think it's Monday night.
