paulstokes Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Just wondered what your thoughts were on this guy? Genuine question not trying to cause trouble again like the others.
Koke Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Half decent. Big lad, wins a lot in the air. But on the floor with the ball he's a disaster waiting to happen. I still cannot get my head around that we rejected a £1.2 million offer from Ipswich back in January. He's not even worth half that fee.
Corky Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Best defender in the world, bar none No seriously, very steady, not great with distribution but a solid player nonetheless. One of our best this season.

Zingari Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 one of our best and most consistent , but that ain't sayin a lot

He might not be worth that much but we're hardly over-run by centre backs at the club are we? Selling him would've been daft unless an immediate replacement could've been lined up & people aren't exactly falling over themselves to sell decent players in the last couple of weeks of January Who would we play alongside N'Gotty now with Kinsorbo's injury? I'm gonna guess you'll say Stearman, but would we really want to be putting someone in such a crucial position when he hasn't played there for several years?
Fat Ron Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Can anyone also explain why we use him as an emergancy striker??? Fat Ron Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Strong tall wins headers... Tall... Yep... I'll give you that.... What where the others
paulstokes Posted 1 May 2008 Author Posted 1 May 2008 nice one i just wondered. my brother in law was in his class at school and wondered how he was getting on (he's not a footy fan) it just came up i said i hoped leicester stay up for the reasons i gave yesterday. and he told me he was mates with him at school but lost touch not being big on footy and all that.
Simi Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 A little overrated, helped out by Kisnorbo a lot. Both our centre backs have woeful distribution and it causes us so much trouble during matches. I like McAuley though, I'd be more confident in him on Saturday as we don't really have the worry of a quick front line.
The People's Hero Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Just wondered what your thoughts were on this guy?Genuine question not trying to cause trouble again like the others. Are you a scout from another club? If so, yeah, he's amazing. Please don't buy him.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 I've heard that Gareth McCauley is fantastic. Gareth MacAuley on the other hand has huge gaping holes in his game where "abilty to play football" should be.
Vestan Pance Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 It's true though isn't it? You could pick any player in the current squad who is no better than a Levein player.
lookwhaticando Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 I've heard that Gareth McCauley is fantastic.Gareth MacAuley on the other hand has huge gaping holes in his game where "abilty to play football" should be. And what of Gareth McAuley - the one with number five on the back of his Leicester City shirt?

If Ipswich comes back for him in the summer, I'll give McAuley a lift to the train station, and even buy his ticket.

I would agree, I just don't think January would've been the best time to be selling him with the lack of back-up available.
reynard Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 he's not good enough to get us promoted to the premiership but might be ok in league1. 1 dreadful distribution 2 too slow 3 despite his height doesn't dominate the area enough at corners and free kicks. 4 centre halfs really need to be more vocal in controlling the defence but he doesn't seem to be that kind of player. tries hard though.
