Ultra Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 We don't need any more keepers. But we need at least two more centre-backs with McAuley gone and Kisnorbo crocked. Anthony Gerrard of Walsall has looked solid at this level, and has been suggested on another thread.

Logan may not be up for the job, he couldn't even get into the Stockport team for the majority of the season...
SamL Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Why not??Logan may not be up for the job, he couldn't even get into the Stockport team for the majority of the season... Oh right, that must be why he made 38 appearances for them last season then.
Guppy Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Adam Drury to replace Mattock if he leaves, he would be a good, solid replacement.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Have a few suggestions: Paul McLaren - Tranmere - More assissts than anyone else in League One last season, with 13. Can take a decent set-piece and would command respect from others, being a seasoned pro. Rovers fans value him very highly, but my one concern about him would be his age (31). We could probably pick him up for a reasonably cheap fee. Andy Holdsworth - Huddersfield - Huddersfield's player of the season last season, is quite young (24) but experienced (197 league games), and can operate in either defence or midfield. Despite only playing in midfield for parts last season, he still managed a solid amount of assists. Very highly rated at the Galpharm. Rickie Lambert - Bristol Rovers - Scored 20 goals in all competitions last season and is, in my opinion, exactly the type of player we need to be going for. Is 26, has improved dramatically over the past few seasons and could be bought for a small fee. I also think we should chase, Joe Garner or Adam Boyd, especially Garner, who looks the "bees-knees" at this level, and is only 20.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Sorry, also think we should chase Theo Robinson on loan, if he is not in first team contention for Watford. Excelled at Hereford on loan last season, a League 2 Max Gradel.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Some good suggestions Nihat, I'd take all of them, we need to purchase players successful at this level rather than failed players from a level or two above, like Darren Moore (which hopefully remains a rumour and nothing more).

I agree. Hopefully these players will have some sort of drive/motivation to play for us. I can't see that happening with Moore. Here's some more for you: Ben Strevens - Dagenham & Redbridge - Scored 20 goals in all competitions last year in a below average side. I think he would be the type of player who would really up his game for us, having only played for smaller sides. Nicky Adams - Bury - Wales Under 21 international, would get on well with Andy King (you'd hope), has a vey good goals to games ratio from midfield for a youngster, and provided more assists (15 overall) than anyone else in League Two. Adam Rundle - Rochdale - Scored a great goal in the playoffs, is creative, and chips in with a few goals himself. As an "aside", I'd have liked to have seen us sign Garry Thompson, but S****horpe hasve already snapped him up. We need a manager soon, jsut so that we can start delving into the market ourselves.
Molson Canadian Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 David Mirfin from Huddersfield i think he would be a good addition to our defence
Foxestalc Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Given our new manager and his previous club? Just a thought? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Carroll http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Tozer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazenga_LuaLua

dog_4 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 lua lua looked awesome for newcastle in the fa cup last season and dickenson of maynard would be great. certainly need to look at signing the best young players from lower divisions.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 My sources has told me he was at Leicester training ground today. Whether he's on a trial or just to train who knows, he's also out of favour at Leeds. Yes please, but no way will this happen.
Mark Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Well firstly he is god awful. And the midfield needs sorting before we even look at strikers.
Bert Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Well firstly he is god awful. And the midfield needs sorting before we even look at strikers. Which we currently have at least 8 of.
Flynny Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Why? Why? Why? Oh dear. This is where League One starts to hit home.
teblin Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Nicky MaynardNicky Maynard Nicky Maynard Nicky Maynard Nicky Maynard His record is superb 32 in 59 games, get the feeling he may go higher up the ladder than to us.
Asha Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 id be very very very very very happy if we got him or liam dickinson(cash plus conrad )! either one will do On his way to Derby. Apparently.
SamL Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Not a bad League One player I don't think, not any higher though. I wouldn't mind him I suppose. I'd use him as a back up though. We need to get rid of a few strikers first though.
