McAuley & Stearman to Ipswich?

I really don't think Mcauley is worth that.

When Ipswich offered that in January I would've snapped their hands off.

Theres better than Mcauley out there.

Overrated in my opinion... very overrated.

I don't really understand how McAuley can be classed as ovverated to be honest. From what I've seen on here most people would be happy to see him leave, that's not the sort of player who I'd class as overrated.

As for my opinion, I think he's a pretty undervalued member of our team. He may be prone to the odd error, but being fair they are rare and together him and Kisnorbo have put together a fantastic understanding that has seen us concede very few goals for a couple of seasons now.

Defensively McAuley is very good in my opinion, and he's also useful for his attacking abilties when required. I'd be disappointed if he left, I think he's a bigger part of our team than most think, and I think he'd be missed if we got rid. Saying this I do think he'll leave.

I agree with what Joe said, and would think the only thing that would keep either him or Stearman here would be a club captain sort of incentive.

Seeing as how i think Clem will end up going in the summer, i wouldn't be surprised if either McAuley or Stearman were offered it, but i also wouldn't be surprised to see them go.

What you seem to forget is that both these players are still in contract unless MM wants to make some money back that he has lost i honestly cant seeing MM leting them go he has said he is staying and will not want to be in DIV 3 for long

the only problem i can see just thought about is if they have a relegation release clause then cherio

Love to keep them both, but unlikely! Dont think Stearman is Villa quality though, Stearman will always be Championship standard

Stearman has lots of the qualities required by a Premiership full-back and is still a novice.

He's added a vital quality this season - consistency.

He gets tighter now and is more vigorous in dealing with opponents.

His confidence has increased and his decision-making has improved.

The main thing he needs to work on now is the speed and accuracy of his passing.

According to my sources, Stearman might be going for much much more but in a joint bid with another player.

Say about 3 million in a joints bid with mattock?

Mcauley I think will leave and go to ipswich. 1million would be good enough for me.

As for stearman I cant see him leaving his hometown club to go to Ipswich to be quite honest, unless offered silly money.

I'd be really sad to see him go - I see a true captain in the making in Stearman, the one thing we have been badly missing most of all.

I think he could afford to skip one season sitting in the reserves of some Premier side to develop this aspect of his game. I hope he sees that.

It will be really hard to keep hold of Stearman, but these last 5-6 months he has really matured as a footballer. I agree with Disco Robert, there's qualities of a true captain in Stearman and I wonder whether he'd stay if we offered him the armband, I bet he would. But we will be tempted with what's on offer from other clubs.

I've always thought Stearman could become a top defender and there will be clubs willing to pay £2 million or more for him, couple that with Joe Mattock and we could re-coup quite a lot of what Mandaric, Allen, Holloway and co have blown and Milan will be tempted by that, sadly.

McAuley can go for anything over £750,000, good player but at 28, nearly 29 and the fact we got him for nothing would represent good business. He's also now on much more money than he was a few months back.

Amen to all of that. Only thing I would query is the price we are likely to get for Stearman, with it being nearer to £1-1.5 mil bracket. It's only right we let him go. He's come through the ranks, put in a shift for us, and at this stage in the development of his career, he needs to be playing higher than League 1 standard to push on and improve if he wants to play at the highest level.

We had one of the best defences in the league last season so it's no surprise that our defenders will be wanted. I think come opening day next season, we will have a brand new back four.

I've heard that Stearman's contract is up at the end of the next season, can anyone clarify that?

If that is true and he doesn't sign a new contract then we should sell him, unfortunately. I agree with the comments about making him captain should he stay. I don't see a Premiership side going for him to be honest, unless its Stoke or the promoted play-off side.

Agree with your last point entirely but as for him being consistent im not so sure!

Wouldn't be too bothered by Macauley leaving tbh. Kisnorbo is obviously crocked for 6 months anyway so no-one will be sniffing round him till he has proved his fitness, prob sometime around Jan 09 (I fully expect us to be 10 points clear at the top of the league by then ;) )....

Bruno has another year left on his contract and Im pretty sure we'll get no takers for him so he is more than capable of filling in at centre half with maybe Worley and then Kish when he's fit.

Stears is a toughy... Im not so sure he'd be happy leaving his hometown club but then the lure of the upper echillions of the Championship or lower reaches of the Prem might be too strong...

£1.5 Million for McAuley and £2.5 Million for Stearman would be good business. I just want Stearman to stay though as he was one of the few players that actually cared about the club. I think he will not leave to a championship club, only if a big time move in the premier league came along would he consider leaving.

This is the bit thats most embarassing & hurtful about our demise, being raped & pillaged by lesser teams. :(

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has lined up a £2.5million raid on his old club Leicester for youngsters Joe Mattock and Richard Stearman. (One of todays papers)

No real shocks this "rumour" has come out.

I can see them both going there to be honest. MON loves young English players and has plenty of quality their already and Stearman and Mattock will get a lot better quicker playing under his management. I`d hope with these crazy prices we could get towards £4m for the pair though.

I`d be surprised if McAuley didn't go to the Championship.

To all that know me. I do not lie.

Mcauley has a release clause where he can leave Leicester for £750,00. This was put in his new contract because Leicester thought they would still be in the championship.

If Holloway stays Kishishev and Hume will leave. Holloway tried to sell Hume last transfer window. Even knowing that the manager did not want him. Iain has played his heart out for this club. I know some dislike him, but for me he is our top scorer (scoring as a midfielder) and you dont get rid of your top scorcer. You get rid of the ones not scoring. Then again who the hell wants DJ?

Both Richard Stearman and Joe mattock have a very high chance of leaving. Both to Premier teams. Max Gradel. 10 goals in this league from midfield in a crap team. is only 50/50 to come back to Leicester. I know he has signed a new contract but there are 4 championship teams after him. Leicester have in the past treated Max very poorly.

Players already moved on. rab Douglas, Alan Maybury, Alan Sheehan, Mark De vries, Jamie Clapham, Zsolt Laczko, Gabor Bori(German team)

Players going. Elvis Hammond, Sergio Hellings,

Players rated doubtful for next season. Richard Stearman, Joe Mattock, Radostin Kishishev, Max Gradel, Iain Hume, Gareth Mcauley, and James Chambers

Playes back. Eric Odihambo, Louis Dodds, Jonathan Hayes, Conrad Logan( if Stockport get out we expect an offer)

How can you say all that when we dont even know who will manager us next season? Most of it could be guessed by anyone anyway but the manager will decide who he prefers to keep.

So how do you know all this then, 'knowitall'

Cheers for the update knowitall. I love the the way we negotiate contracts, bump up the wages and put a nice relegation release clause in.

He's been right on numerous occasions before. Add to that he's spoken from a perspective that doesn't involve the manager.

If ever we needed a new inspiring manager, now is the time. There are players there who need to be motivated and shown a vision of progression, a vision they can buy into and want to be a part of. Holloway is not the person for that.
