Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 May 2008 Author Posted 19 May 2008 Yes mate would be an ideal replacement for him. A great little player who is a class passer of the ball and gives the defence the support and can also twat a ball as we have seen when he played against England.Wasted at Barca. Ultimately I think Barca know his value and it would take a ridiculous amount of cash to prise him away from the Nou Camp. Shame that because he is quite defensive minded in an attacking team that he frequently gets overshadowed by the likes of Messi and Eto'o

Never happened and I'm sure it was just lazy journalism.

Samilktray Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Does Lassana Diarra get into the French first team? If so, hes a bloody great player.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 May 2008 Author Posted 19 May 2008 Does Lassana Diarra get into the French first team?If so, hes a bloody great player. I think the fact that he has played for three top Premier League sides in his career is testament to his ability.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Does Lassana Diarra get into the French first team?If so, hes a bloody great player. Yea I think he does. Saying that he didnt play against England so... Made their squad though.

He is actually highly regarded by Barcelona (has started 43 games in all comps this season) and very much a fans favourite. Much more likely that Deco will end up at the Bridge. Anyways the player i think will shine is Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Iniesta doesn't fall under that category, I feel, he is too unfashionable. Good call on Huntelaar though, his first major tournament.
Joe. Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Step forward Senor Torres.I'll put money on him being golden boot winner. I'm liking the odds of 10/1 for that. I'm actually surprisingly really looking forward to this tournament despite England's absence.
sdb Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 The most underrated player in the world. Can see him leaving for Arsenal, Madrid et al. from barca? both unlikely surely?

Fox You Forest Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Home sides nearly always do well but i doubt Austria will, Switzerland might do well they went out of the World Cup without losing a game.(went out on penalties) So i will go for: Hakin Yakin
Ajax Treesdown Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Most eyes will be on Karim Benzema and Hatem Ben Arfa for France. I am following Italy, always do when there is no ENGERLAND!!! SUPER LUCA TONI!!! FORZA ITALIA!!!
MC Prussian Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 As always, no mention of Team Switzerland... Thing is, we have a good mix of players and a few good midfielders (Barnetta, Yakin, Inler, Behrami, Fernandes). Goalkeeper No.1, Diego Benaglio, is quite talented, our defense is solid, but nothing to be overly proud of. We lack good strikers (and the ones we have are in bad shape or only coming back from injury), and Group A is a bloody tough one. Only a few reasons as to why we won't make it past the group stage.
Ric Flair Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Having been to Spain pretty much twice a year from when I was 5 up until I was 18, i've got a soft spot for the Spaniards. And the fact they have ridiculous talent and always blow it, makes me like them even more. So with us being shit and not being involved in Euro 2008, I reckon i'll step up my support for Spain and follow them next month. The talent they currently have is exceptional and the way Torres and Fabregas for the first half of the season have played this season has been stunning. I really hope Spain win it this year, but France have a strong squad and know how to get the job done. Plus Sweden who I have a liking for, but they're squad doesn't look as strong as previous tournaments. I hope Ibrahimovic finally produces the displays he's capable of. If Romania can upset the big teams in the Group of Death then I think, Dica will be the man to shine for them. Whenever i've seen him, he's been the best player on the park. I think Russia are going to do well, as Mark says, Arshavin is quality. They also have some other decent players and are massively under-rated. Under Hiddink, they could easily reach the Semi's. I've noticed Colin Kazim-Richards is in the squad for Turkey, he's no Muzzy!
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I am actually going to put money on the Swiss Alexi. Mad I know. And Spain. I think Portugal will be semi finalists at best, I bet Ronaldo is sub par.
The People's Hero Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I'd like to see Spain put in a performance for once. Fabregas is an imperious player. If Portugal can get one of their strikers firing, I think they'll go a long way. France will win it though, in my opinion. Looking forwards to it, to be honest.

Totally agree on all accounts with this.
General Smuts Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Im looking forward to this tbh. My top tips are Barnetta at Switzerland and Huntelaar at Holland. Id go for Huntelaar getting the golden boot if the Dutch perform. Modric is a beast as well.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Alex Frie Golden Boot going to check odds on that as well.
shen Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I think the following will surprise a few, or perform better than we're used to in their respective national teams: Martin Fenin Gökhan Inler Semih Sentürk Mario Gomez Radoslaw Matusiak Rafael van der Vaart (Yes, I think he's finally going to deliver!) Gabriel Tamas Sotiris Ninis Daniel Güiza Diniyar Bilyatdenov Fredrik Stoor
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Spain currently about 7.5/1 Swiss 35/1 Frei top goal scorer a massive 90/1!! haha having £2 on that bad boy.
