MC Prussian Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Spain currently about 7.5/1 Swiss 35/1 Frei top goal scorer a massive 90/1!! haha having £2 on that bad boy. That's what I call high-risk gambling. Frei scored a goal in last week's last league game against Wolfsburg. He also missed a peno. Good luck, Manwell.
RowlattsFox Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I'm tipping Mario Gomez for the golden boot Ribery could have a good competition as well.
Ric Flair Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I think the following will surprise a few, or perform better than we're used to in their respective national teams:Martin Fenin Gökhan Inler Semih Sentürk Mario Gomez Radoslaw Matusiak Rafael van der Vaart (Yes, I think he's finally going to deliver!) Gabriel Tamas Sotiris Ninis Daniel Güiza Diniyar Bilyatdenov Fredrik Stoor Good player. Greece are on fire at the minute as well, won about 10 games on the spin. I'm tipping Mario Gomez for the golden boot Ribery could have a good competition as well. I think both will have a good tournament. Ribery has been superb for Bayern this season and is pretty much unstoppable when he's on his game. France look too good but then again they are in a nasty group, so who knows.
General Smuts Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Romania have got a lot of strong players and could serve up a few shocks in that horrendous group. Mutu and both Niculae's are quality and the keeper Lobont is amazing. They've got a solid defense in Contra, Rat, Radu and Chivu aswell Marica, Dicu and Nicolita are the biz aswell. Gonna be the group to watch is C
The People's Hero Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Cosmin Contra! Good shout. We should sign him. He probably thinks LCFC are still in the premier. If we sign him quick, all the websites show us as still in the Championship anyway. We'll say that's the new name of the Premier. Or its the one above the Premier, whatever. He'll believe it, you know what these Romanians are like. Besides him and Milan are both East(ish) European and as far as I know all those nations get on really really well....
Fox You Forest Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 As always, no mention of Team Switzerland... Thing is, we have a good mix of players and a few good midfielders (Barnetta, Yakin, Inler, Behrami, Fernandes). Goalkeeper No.1, Diego Benaglio, is quite talented, our defense is solid, but nothing to be overly proud of. We lack good strikers (and the ones we have are in bad shape or only coming back from injury), and Group A is a bloody tough one. Only a few reasons as to why we won't make it past the group stage. Look at my prediction on page 2 near the bottom.
Joe. Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I also hope Spain do well this time, and I think they might if they can get their better players firing well. I think it will be close between them and France really.
Uncle Albert Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I also hope Spain do well this time, and I think they might if they can get their better players firing well. I think it will be close between them and France really. Same here mate regarding Spain. Actually as long as Italy don't win it I will be happy. Boring bastards.
Joe. Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I reckon Martin Fenin is one to watch for the Czech's this summer. Aside from him I think Benzema will do well for France too.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 May 2008 Author Posted 20 May 2008 Sotiris Ninis I dont know if the Greeks have announced their squad yet but Ninis got injured around the time he was set to be called up for his first cap. Hes a prostigious talent, sure, but I don't know if he's in their squad or not. Hope he is. Also, Fabregas will not shine for Spain this summer. He wears "Cesc" on his Spain shirt and "Fabregas" on his Arsenal shirt, and Fabregas is by far better. If you want a striker that could surprise, Genoa's Marco Borriello (Italy) is top of the Serie A goalscorers chart, and has been a revalation this season.

He got called up and scored on his debut against Cyprus. He's not in Greeces squad for their friendly against Hungary though, and Rehhagel has said Ninis was "one for the future". So yeah, naybe he'll miss out on Euro 2008...

Hopefully if he performed well against Cyprus he might get selected. Perhaps the manager was experimenting with various squad players in different games.
BigGibbo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Croatia: Luka Modric - Eduardo Switzerland: Tranquillo Barnetta - Johan Vonlanthen Sweden: Kim Källström - Zlatan Ibrahimović Russia: Roman Pavlyuchenko - Vladimir Bystrov

It's extremely unlikely he's even playing.
BigGibbo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I agree about Kallstrom and Modric but Eduardo? It's extremely unlikely he's even playing. Oh yes of course good call.
lildave3 Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 If you're going for a Gokhan then choose Gonul. Ruled out
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 May 2008 Author Posted 26 May 2008  Ruled out Turkey still have Nihat so they'll probably win anyway.
Tommy G Posted 27 May 2008 Posted 27 May 2008 Turkey still have Nihat so they'll probably win anyway. Do you have a Nihat Fettish?
Father Ted Posted 27 May 2008 Posted 27 May 2008 Portugal as a team should do very well. They have a solid defence and Cristiano. This could well be where we found out whether Ronaldo is just a world class player or amongst the best ever.
AmericanScott Posted 27 May 2008 Posted 27 May 2008 I would like to see Romania do well in this tournament. It'll be funny to see them win it. They've got Marica, Mutu, Chivu and Cosmin Contra! Come on Tricolorii!!!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 May 2008 Author Posted 27 May 2008 Do you have a Nihat Fettish? Yes. He's that good. His posters adorn my walls.
Number 6 Posted 27 May 2008 Posted 27 May 2008 I got odds of 8/1 for Portugal to win it, took it e.w. Think has a good chance. Depends what kind of tournament Ronaldo has really. Greece and Russia could surprise people I reckon.
