lookwhaticando Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 New Deal for Beswick. Left Winger. 19 Years old. He's here all year. Ace.
Jonezy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I thought he was one of the better prospects, why only a year....?
lookwhaticando Posted 20 June 2008 Author Posted 20 June 2008 I thought he was one of the better prospects, why only a year....? Pretty standard practice for youth players who haven't starred for the first team, I'd have thought.
Foxhateram Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 New Deal for Beswick. Left Winger. 19 Years old. He's here all year. Ace. i knew some good news had to come out of this week. Next year is going to be our year.
Jonezy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Pretty standard practice for youth players who haven't starred for the first team, I'd have thought. Fair play. But what if he proves to be the real deal, better teams could just snap him up next summer......
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 **** that - have we managed to tie down Sergio Hellings?
Corky Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Well done to Ryan, hopefully Pearson is interested in youth and is prepared to give them a chance to show what they can do.
lookwhaticando Posted 20 June 2008 Author Posted 20 June 2008 Fair play. But what if he proves to be the real deal, better teams could just snap him up next summer...... Or we could throw him another contract if he demonstrates some level of handiness. One year keeps him on the books for now... it leaves us room to cast him off if he's no good, and it gives us scope to improve his terms quickly and easily if he impresses. Very few players from the youth team get more than a year at first... someone got two years (or was offered two years) not too long ago, but I can't remember who... Gradel, perhaps? **** that - have we managed to tie down Sergio Hellings? No... but Vanity Fair did, for his latest shoot.
Shrenchel Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Anyone know how much a week?! Hope it's a fair amount, pack of Lamberts is over 5 quid these days.
lavrentis Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Anyone know how much a week?! Hope it's a fair amount, pack of Lamberts is over 5 quid these days. You heard his girlfriend!

He could have a good shout at left wing next season. Always seems to be involved with the goals for the reserves.
davieG Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Congratulations Ryan you've looked up for it playing the reserves let's hope you can maintain your enthusiasm and confidence and move onto the next level with LCFC.
Father Ted Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Good news. Hopefully next year him and Gradel can provide some real good service to the frontmen.
MPH Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 i would be a bit wary of throwing all the young guns into the thick of the action all season long... there are some pretty meaty defenders in the first div who will consider it a personal victory no matter what the scoreline to see the person they were marking taken off injured...
knowitall Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Ryan came down the Walkers today to sign. Was made to wait 20 minutes went in signed (5 minutes) then went home. No fuss no fanfare.
SamL Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 That's good news. I've heard some promising things about this lad so hopefully he replicates what I've heard in the first team next season. I just hope Beswick and the rest of the youth players are given their chance to shine.

Jimmy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 No-one can argue that Leicester know how to treat people why should there be a big fuss he's an academy player being given a pro deal, its not Leo Messi signing

C-man Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I have to admit I don't think I've ever seen him play... Quite a few people on here seem to rate him, so hopefully Pearson will give him a fair crack next season. Anyone know what Nige's policy on youth is?
davieG Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 why should there be a big fuss he's an academy player being given a pro deal, its not Leo Messi signing Well I would imagine it was massive for him after all the years spent as an apprentice and dreaming of becoming a professional footballer etcetera, there's still a long way to go but this was a very important step fro him as no contract would have meant unemployment and uncertainty. It's sad that you're so dismissive of it.

He gave young players a go during his time at the saints, though sales meant he only had a limited senior squad. But he has also been a coach of the England u-21 side and done quite well with them. He was in charge for the 3-3 draw with Italy which marked the reopening of Wembley.
