What do you reckon - seeing him in the pre-season training I was wondering - is it worth keeping hold of him.

Mean for one, if he plays, plays well and starts scoring we may be able to re-coup a tad more money? And I can imagine he'd do well in this league along side a pacey striker and some wingers who can cross.

Bad enough he let us down in the first place, missed some shocking header`s! generally don`t like him or rate him, Rather offload him for £850,000 - £1million and pay clinton morrison What he wants in wages! :)

I don't agree that Howard was 'shit' . Our midfield last season was awful. Howard proved that when given the service he could score at West Brom. If we have a decent midfield then he can easily get 15-20 goals next season

If we get offered decent money for him then he should be sold. He's 31, and his game will decline very quickly. However, if we don't get a decent offer for him, he's probably capable of getting 20 goals at this level if we play to his strengths and Pearson can keep him motivated.

Well I Agree our midfield was woeful, I still think he missed a lot of chances and I think he was respoinsible for our quality of football declining towards the end of the season, basically hit and hope ball`s towards him. Fryatt didn`t get a chance to play with him and im not sure how well there are suited to each other to make a good partnership. I think there is a lot more scope than people think to go out there and get something better.

If we are going to play with genuine width and get the ball in the box howard could be very usefull too us. He was another player that has been used as a scape goat. when infact all of the players that took us down are to blame.

Not bothred, him and Hayles are the same player, except ones slightly older and shitter but a damn sight more amusing.

Well if ur reffering to barry hayles I actually think he was on of the better players in the last game of season against stoke.... so id rather keep him! plus realistically Howard is the only striker out of the 2 we can offload for a fee.

I'm torn. One one hand part of me says he could be really good in this league, but the other part is saying get rid. He just looked like he couldnt be bothered for the most part, last season!

Not entirelly true, when you look at the bigger picture, the stats show that we didn`t score enough goals because defensively we were one of the best team`s in the championship!

He shouldn't be forgiven for his lack of interest in almost every game last season, lack of ability is understandable but he wasn't bothered and that wasn't more evident than in the biggest match of our history.

I for one won't be happy till he's out of this club.

Oh come off it, he had a little Purple patch at Luton and Deeerrrrrby aside from that he's always been garbage and it on last seasons evidence he's regained that form.

Will score quite well in this division but then so should the rest of our strikers if forms past forms anything to go by.

I do think he could do well in League 1, however i now have a very strong disliking for himbecause of his lack of effort last season so we should get rid, Id rather have a team of lower league players who give 110% and want to play than Premiership rejects that think they can walk into the team.

i think we should keep him ... i nknow he couldnt hit a barn door from 2 yards last season but anything can and will happen in this league , its a physical aand the northener could prove his moneys worth

Don't know really, I'll wait and see if he's any better in the matches against MK Dons and Stockport.

He looked so lazy last season never really attacked the ball in the box which was dissapointing - having said that the target man is a very hard role to play and its easy to look clumsy if you're not getting the balls in to u in the right place look at Crouch even Luca Toni they both often look like donkeys, I think he could do a good job with us next season probably need some aerial presence as a lot of the games in League 1 are played in the air, having said that i wouldnt really be bothered if he went

I would be surprised if we got a quarter of that amount. He is 31 and on a salary higher than clubs who might want to buy him would be willing to pay, so he could well be with us until the end of his contract, even if he is not playing.

Agree with that, although no where in the same league, players in the "target man" role can look lazy and rubbish.

Sometime they are doing exactly what they are asked, they have prob been asked to stay as a focal point and not go running around into corners chasing the ball down.

I'm not defending Howard as he was on the whole poor, but i do believe he is capable of scoring goals.

Does anyone rememeber Hayles performance against barnsley away last season? He was like a man possessed by Pele.

Manwell just realised your comments about Gradel are still in my signature! Imagine how good Sylla could have been in league 1 :P
