Daggers Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 The 26-year-old's arrival will be subject to a work permit being granted because Bulgaria is outside the European Union. Sort it out - that is just ignorant, lazy journalism. Bulgaria is in the sodding Union you pillock. Sky aren't any better The deal is subject to the player obtaining a work permit. Bulgarian nationals do not require a sodding work permit if they are coming here to play fucking football. It says so on the UK Border Agency website. It's not fucking rocket science.
Halfsy Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 I am studying Sport Journalism at university and Bill Anderson seems to make many simple journalistic errors!
Ric Flair Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Daggers, they are in the EU, but there are restrictions on Bulgarians coming in to this country to work and do require a work permit.

Surely all three aren't wrong?
Bryn Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Daggers, they are in the EU, but there are restrictions on Bulgarians coming in to this country to work and do require a work permit. Yea that's what I thought, I thought they put restrictions on the amount of people coming in from the new additions to the EU because they feared that their work force would be decimated like Polands was. Or something, I'm no expert.

If you meet the highly skilled migrant person criteria, you may be exempt from having to have an accession workers card, but you will need to apply for a registration certificate on this basis Source - as quoted above.
Ric Flair Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Source - as quoted above. So basically, it's a no brainer that he'll get the necessary cerificate and it didn't warrant mentioning by the Mercury or the OS.

Bert Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 What about our yellow kit? Is that still our away strip?Yours Confused, 26, London. 3rd kit. Daggers is never wrong people, don't forget this.
Daggers Posted 7 July 2008 Author Posted 7 July 2008 Daggers is never wrong people, don't forget this. It says so on the UK Border Agency website. I'm wrong a whole load - but I figure that if the official body for immigration states he doesn't need one then it's reasonable to rely on that information. Don't you reckon?

Don't you reckon? Well it's a number of reports that have stated this, added with Ric's fact too, I'd believe it's right. I at first didn't think he'd need a work permit either. But what do i know eh.

MPH Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Source - as quoted above. does playing for Leicester city require you to be highly skilled? If not i fear this part of that website applies to Tunchev You do not need permission to enter or remain to live in the United Kingdom. If you want to work in the United Kingdom you will need to apply for an accession worker card, unless you are exempt (see below) and your employer may have to apply for a work permit.
davieG Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Blanderson and Sky have just copied the OS. These media types never do their own checking.
Cheese Me Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Someone obviously ****ed up on the press release. Lazy journalists will just copy it wholesale, hence the inacuracies in each report
act smiley Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 The press release is only mildly wrong in that it confuses the form he needs to fill in for a permit, while the rest of them are blatantly wrong to a daft degree.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Rumanians require work permits too. So that sort of rules out a quick deal for Adrian Mutu.
Kilworthfox Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Although in the E.U, Bulgaria have the same status as Romanians since January 2008. That is that they may go into any E.U country but require a high level of skill to be eligible to work in a different E.U country to which they are a citizen of. There are various levels of criteria usually a University degree, and the work has to be related to that degree! For instance a doctor could not come to England and run a chippy, that is against our policy's as running a chippy is unskilled where as being a doctor is a highly skilled job. Basically this guy will get a work permit because he is highly skilled in what he does. He has reached the top level in his chosen field and would need an extremely good reason not to be accepted by the British.
The Stig Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 I'm going to Bulgaria on holiday. I thought it worth a mention.
Flynny Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 I'm going to Bulgaria on holiday. I thought it worth a mention. Brilliant. Why not start a new topic about it?
The Stig Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Brilliant. Why not start a new topic about it? Or even better I'll write a daily blog and post it when I get back.
