Manwell Pablo Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 How odd, the Guardian had them on 18 awhile back, now one gold has vanished into thin air and they've gone back down to 17. Oh well can't moan.
Master Fox Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Ogohogoruogohugohurhgouhoghou is the only one. ^ This is another thing about the Olympics this week that got up my nose. Why have the Olympian conservationists had such a difficult time with the pronunciation of her name? If you’re going to pretend you know about the sport, at least try and learn the athlete’s names properly. Especially the British ones.

Cant say Chritina Orugurugugygugugugugug either.....
lildave3 Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008  I'm currently pissing myself at Usain Bolt crossing the line before Holland.
Lovejoy Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Asafa Powell was a monster in that final leg of the blokes 4x100!
Lillehamring Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 brabants only made bronze in the 500m, aussies took gold... <_<
lavrentis Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I know fook all about Taekwondo but that was outrageous
Father Ted Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I know fook all about Taekwondo but that was outrageous She got a clear headshot! If the other person wasn't Chinese it would have been given - what a joke!
purpleronnie Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Did you see the yound brit yesterday? he blew it in the last few seconds he would of reached the final and get at least a silver, he was devastated. Then in the play off he fought a chinese bloke and looked like he was cheated out of a few points.
Fox You Forest Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I cant believe that. I thought the young lads was bad yesterday but that was just shocking in the womens.
Thracian Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 If China accepts that tai-kwon-do result they have no honour. They should be ashamed. How the British girl avoided calling the judges cheats I don't know. Couldn't see? She nearly kicked the woman's head off her shoulders. If they couldn't see what the hell were they doing there? The only reason there's no video replay is to facilitate cheating. What other reason could there be? How the sport can even be included in the Olmpics when such things can happen I don't know. Golf can't get a look in as an Olympic sport for some strange reason but every golfer I know would have called a foul on himself. That Chinese competitor knew what happened. she's brought dishonour on the sport and on the Games. I suppose it's why, despite Great Britain's brilliance on this occasion, I have so little time for or interest in the Olympics. There's just so much corruption one way or another. Why the British gil even shook her opponents hand I've no idea. I would have spat on the floor and caught the first plane home. Pity they don't let the pair fight for real with no protectors.

I thought her dignified response will stand her in a better light giving her the moral high ground, the type of action you suggest Thrac would have immediately turned her into the guilty party probably incurred a lengthy ban and brought her no more lasting satisfaction. As for the Olympic, there's lots wrong with it but I doubt this type of situation is any more prevalent that it is in any non Olympic sport, including golf and all aspects of life these days. It's not the winning it's the taking part disappeared long ago.
purpleronnie Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Can they fix it though, surely the judges aren't chinese?
lavrentis Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Can they fix it though, surely the judges aren't chinese? I don't know, he just said it out of disgust. He doesn't really want to speculate
Fox You Forest Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Can they fix it though, surely the judges aren't chinese? Wouldn't have thought so, With the vast majority of the crowd cheering for the chinese girl though there could be a slight bias.
Father Ted Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 My dad thought it was fixed I also reckon other things have been fixed.
Fox You Forest Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I think Fixed is a bit strong, Lets call it Home Team Advantage.

James. Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Sounds to me like the crowd and the pressure of the moment swayed the judges. The bigger disgrace, with the concept of fair play so integral to the principles of the Olympics, is that the Chinese fighter didn't say a thing. Disgusting.

It's not the winning it's the taking part disappeared long ago. It might not have been diplomatic but the type of action I suggested would focus attention and perhaps get things changed. What's the point of respecting an opponent who doesn't deserve it. She knew she'd been hit and if necessary should have volunteered the point. If a golfer double hits he might not be seen by anyone but he calls it on himself. What's the point in winning a medal you're not entitled to it?
