Fosse Boy Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Oh, I remember the days of UCAS. By the way, if anyone ends up going into clearing, don't worry. I was shitting it that I'd not be able to get the course I wanted and end up at a crap uni but in the end it worked out OK. Good luck to all y'all.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Good luck to everyone waiting on results today. I hope you get exactly what you want from them, be it uni or the job you want.

Bluefoxtim Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Similar to me. Also in AS, I got two B's and two C's.Oh and a E in General Studies but who gives a shit about general? I got an A, and 100% in one part of that test a few years ago
maddog Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Got A in Business, B in Chemistry, C in Maths. Exactly what i thought i got. Rang L'Boro Uni up and asked if there were any other courses avaliable in the Business school for my grades and got told there are 0 places in the Business school for people without their grades (i needed A A B ) and it's pretty much the same in the whole Uni. And also got told that due to loads of applicants this year there aren't many places in clearing at all, certainly not at the top Unis so i'm not even going through it. Also due to having an offer i can't actually use clearing unless i cancel it. Got offer for my insurance choice at Bath, but unsure whether to do it or not. But don't really want to cancel just yet. I was never going to get A A B, i should have applied for other courses with easier grades O well at least got some decent A levels in the bag now. Il just see what happens.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Today has been a good day. Now if only UCAS hurried the fook up.

lavrentis Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 D E U.Brilliant. Cool mate. You don't need straight A's to get into everything mate, was speaking to a RAF pilot today saying how he did shit in his and his subjects were the easy ones !
Asha Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Cool mate. You don't need straight A's to get into everything mate, was speaking to a RAF pilot today saying how he did shit in his and his subjects were the easy ones ! I'm not worried mate. I've heard from a lot of people who have said they messed up first year and managed to turn it around. I suppose one plus I have is I know what i did wrong, I put fuck all effort in all year. Give it a good go this year and put the work in, and I should be up there in terms of grades.

Good attitude to have. To be honest, exam results aren't everything - far from it. But if you want the grades at least you've realised you're gonna have to knuckle down and work for 'em. Did you actually enjoy the subjects you were doing? Would it be worth considering doing different subjects if you're uninspired?

Psychology being the only one I find interesting, so might be worth considering a slight change.
Joe. Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Where you off? Nicely played. Off to Brighton to do Sport Journalism. Really looking forward to going now, although after missing out on halls I need to get a house sorted in the next few weeks coming.
Toby or not Toby Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Off to Brighton to do Sport Journalism. Really looking forward to going now, although after missing out on halls I need to get a house sorted in the next few weeks coming. I thought most universitys offered guaranteed halls for first years?
Joe. Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 I thought most universitys offered guaranteed halls for first years? Nope, unfortunately. Brighton's split up into about 5 different areas, and mine only has one halls of residence. There were 500 odd places with 800 odd applicants. Drawn randomly and my name happened to be way down the list...

Should find a house easily enough down there then?
Joe. Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 ahh ok, is Brighton good for sport? Should find a house easily enough down there then? Yeah looks a pretty decent course from what I've seen and heard so far. Finding accommodation will be a pain in the arse I know it, although we'll get there eventually I think.
