Our friend's son was randomly attacked on Horsefair Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He had a bleed on the brain as a result and had to have part of his skull removed to relieve the pressure.

He is now in ICU in an induced coma whilst they wait to see how he progresses.

So yes, right now the city of Leicester is a dump

I know the lad as well - just founded out this morning and shocked me greatly. I played 5-a-side footy with him regularly.

Sorry to hear this chaps. Gutting.

I've reposted this on here from the "City of Leicester Dump" topic.

The police believe the 6 attackers are from Sheffield and were in Leicester for the game..

Liam had been to the match earlier and had been out in town afterwards. He was walking home through the city with a friend at 5am when he was jumped for no reason beaten and kicked in the head. He is still is very poorly on ICU with multiple skull fractures and some removal of damaged brain tissue.

His recovery is uncertain. :(

I haven’t asked details as I know Liam’s father ‘in law’ (his girlfriend’s dad).

Makes me incredibly sad. We normally play Wednesday nights if I can. If it wasn’t for Liam, we’d have quit playing months ago but it’s cos of the lad he is constantly making it happen.

So sad

Look at the report. 2 teenage boys and they call the 15 year girl a young woman . Absolutely vile

Are you suggesting they're the same incident?

One says they cannot be named and the other has photos (which is weird in the case of minors).

Weird article.  Seems like lazy/lax journalism.  The article looks like it was written in the immediate aftermath of the incident with an appeal for witnesses, but they have since been found guilty and the reporting restrictions lifted yesterday after sentencing.  No mention of the actual court result in the article.

But yeah, absolutely vile.

It's the Mail. Say no more.

That wasn't written by the mail, it was written by a some local rag, bit like Leicestershire Live.

Ah, so the Mail was just responsible for the photos and the provocative headline, then. My mistake.

Provocative.....what do you mean by that? 2 blokes who shouldn't be here, raped a child and we can't identify their age so identify them as 17, which the judge clearly doesn't believe as they've released reporting restrictions as they believe it's in the national interest. The whole thing is provocative, especially if you're the father of a 15 year old daughter as I am. Its made entirely worse by language used in these articles in the belief they don't want to offend a certain demographic.

I mean exactly that - the last sentence of the headline, in particular, is written for emotional impact, not so much for presenting fact.

I don't disagree at all with the facts of the case and the interpretation of how horrible they are, but let's not pretend such an incident isn't being used as a means to generate clicks and to incite ill feeling and intent.

I see the daily mail is working it's magic on you. It's reported in a way to make you angry and it's working perfectly.

Omg, i'm angry by warrant that people who shouldn't be here are raping children, and barristers seek to keep it from public knowledge, and that these men have been declared children, and that its been going  on for years and yet here we are locking people up for social media posts, I dont need the daily mail to tell me anything

Don’t get wound up about it - people will literally defend this type of news and instead call out the failings of the news outlet. It’s pretty sick tbh

Afghanistan is unfortunately an extremely backward country with a population that has mostly grown up in a very brutal and dehumanising environment. I can't say I am filled with joy that so many Afghan men are moving to Britain, I believe there are two other stories similar to the one above that have been released today.

Or maybe the Daily Mail is just working its magic on me.

I worry about the future, I can't get my head around how people support the environment wefind ourselves living in, and can't see the dangers we're heading for.

We warned that if you put cultures far removed than ours within our culture, it will be detrimental to British citizens, and yet we continue, and if you complain, far right, get you locked up. It's madness, but i'm influenced by the Mail.

Not just Afghanistan though is it, Pakistan, regions of the middle east, Africa, many places in the World that don't share western values, if you've ever travelled you know how cultures are different

Afghanistan is an extreme example though. To put it as mildly as I can, what we see as serious sexual assault is normalised there.
