Fans berating Howard

It's getting very annoying now. Despite Howard playing well and contributing a huge part to our win on Saturday, you've still got mindless morons having a go at him at every opportunity.

So, while being fairly drunk during the game, me and the Cob started mockingly doing the same. It's fair to say that while amusing those around us, the abuse then seemed to stop.

I wish they would fook off.

These people are still living on last season, when granted Howard didn't do as well as could've/expected.

But this season, He's won pretty much everything, scored two goals, linked up well with his strike partner who has 4 goals to his name, looks fit and wants to do well for us.

I wasn't a Howard fan going into the season. But if he continues to play well and score goals then all will be forgotten. If he starts being lazy again like last season all will be promptly remebered. At the moment there's no need to shout at him.

People seem to forget hes a big as an ox and isn't gonna beat people for pace. For example, why do people get annoyed when he doesn't chase balls in the channel a la Paul Dickov, maybe its because he knows he wont win, or even get close to winning! Get the ball to his head or to his feet and he will always bring others into the game as he is doing really well at this point in time! And the idiots that get all over his back need to lay off its a joke.

he's doing well this season because he's found his division

to be brutally honest

Yes, that' why he scored 19 goals for Derby in the championship.

I'd like to hear you explanation of his record with Derby and Luton in the league above us then?

Occasally I dont think he does himself no favours because when balls come towards him - albeit balls he has little chance of getting - he just shrugs and doesnt even make an effort - whereas someone like Dickov runs forever even when he has no chance. I'm not comparing them directly it's just that Howard conserves his energy for balls he knows he can get to. This doesnt always look pleasing to the eye.

Re morons - I'm pleased to hear Im not alone - there are too many who think that because they are in a crowd they have a right to be moronic and f and blind at anything in their way. He will do a job for us this year - and it's amazing what confidence can then do

Especially annoying as many people have only praise and adoration for Porter who IMO is rubbish and belongs in the same standard as Lee Marshall, Junior Lewis, Lee Morris, Jacob Laursen. ie How on earth is he a pro footballer??

I was a fierce critic of Howard's last season, but this so far this campaign he has improved immensely. He looks more committed and is linking up well.

People need to get off his back and support him.

if he produces the goods people will love him, if he doesnt they wont.

But adding to that, the players from last season also need to make up for last season... i and many others spent alot of money on watching the footballing equivalent of closdridium Difficile on the pitch. So, for me, it will take more than just a couple of decent games.. it will need to be good play for a few more games yet!

It's not the means but the end.

Howard might not be the last word in speed and subtlety but if he continues to score at the sort of rate which will give him 16+ for the season and continues to contribute to a strike partnership which seems to be functioning far better than we're used to in recent season then why complain?

Especially as we're second in the table.

I'm a lot more concerned about why DJ seems to have been sidelined in favour of playing Dickov in a position that simply doesn't suit him.

Hell, Fryatt wasn't sidelined after two years of iffy form so I really think we're being premature not to play DJ. Unless Pearson knows he's outward bound.

You cant expect someone to sign and then start playing well straight away, it took Howard 10 odd games before he started scoring for Derby, and then he couldn't stop, it took Drogba a season to settle in the prem ( i know their is a difference in the players) but now he is settled down, and we are getting the service to him he will come good

IF that's true then if people don't produce people will be hated... if that's the case they why has Fryatt had so much support when producing nothing.

i didnt like howard (due to his crap contribution last year) but as long as he scores im happy

i actually think fryatt has had more 'haters' than 'lovers'...

Just check on his goals/assists per start and at Championship level in his first full season in the senior team and how well we did last season when he didn't play. Then, if you get the chance, check on the opinion of senior people at the club.

Porter is a very positive footballer. If asked, he can play on the wing. If asked he can forage back defensively and if asked he can play central midfield. He is probably as good a passer as we have in the club, is among our best dead ball kickers and is also as good at retaining possession as anyone else.

Given chance he has good shooting technique so there's nothing to stop him bagging his share of goals and all he's lacking right now, after a full-season out, is a bit of match sharpness and more familiarity with his role in a new team.

It's no easy coming back after long term injury as Fryatt found out. There is no way I'm going to forward an argument about Porter or Dyer being better than one another. If Pearson has any sense, which he seems to have, both will be fully involved and utilised and Porter in more than one position depending on the situation.

We paid some for not involving and having faith in King last season and it would be the same with Porter. Fortunately I don't think the manager thinks as you do.
