lcfc81 Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 From Todays Mockery. 'Hands off our star players Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson hopes to escape the weekend without anyone swooping for his prime targets before Monday's transfer deadline. Pearson wants to hold on to his top players, and he also hinted that he is unlikely to sign any more because he is happy with his squad. City's League One status makes them vulnerable to higher-status predators. Injured left-back Joe Mattock has been a regular on the rumour mill with West Ham, Newcastle and Sunderland all said to be showing an interest. Moreover, in-form strikers Matty Fryatt and Steve Howard have also made a very positive impact and could be targeted. I understand Mattock, valued at £5million in some quarters, has been the subject of no more than tentative inquiries. And, while there is always the possibility of some minor moves, if the deadline comes and goes without any irresistible offers for his top men, Pearson will be happy. Is it a relief that there have been no firm moves? He said: “Yes, it is so far. We do not want to let any of our best players go anywhere. “As for anyone coming in, the chairman has been very supportive in allowing us to bring in new players, and I am satisfied with the make-up of the squad. “I am not desperate to bring anyone else in unless they are better than what we have got. “The games, so far, have shown signs that we have a decent amount of quality in the squad and some good characters as well.” Pearson takes his team to Cheltenham today hoping for a first away win in League One. And having pushed the midweek Carling Cup defeat at Fulham out of their minds, the balance of City's squad - which a year ago was in disarray - should again be underlined. The blend of youth and experience was exemplified by Paul Dickov getting on the scoresheet at Craven Cottage and, in defence, Chris Powell's older head will be invaluable for the likes of Michael Morrison, Jack Hobbs and goalkeeper David Martin.' Sounds like if he goes its a MM decision and not NP. I personally think he'll stay, this has been going on so long with so many rumours. If they really wanted him he'd have gone before (possibly for less)
morris1234 Posted 31 August 2008 Author Posted 31 August 2008 id take 3mill plus 25% sell on clause. if they did sign him and keane ended up slling him a few seasons later, hes going to want his money back at least so with the 25% sell on clause hed have to ask for over a realistic price. for example if he wants his 3mill back from it he would have to sell him for 4 so we get the 1mill(25%) and he gets his dosh back. but anyway hes not even gone yet so why i am talki...............
eye666 Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 It actually wouldn't surprise me if Roy Keane did. That twat can pay £8m for Mattock. Or £5m + Fulop + 20% future sale. If he wants Joe we should play silly beggars with him like he did to us last season.

I may be wrong but I think it means 25% of any profit therefore in your example that would be £250K
Father Ted Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Is any of this Fulop aswell business true?
Alexikokopops Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 I may be wrong but I think it means 25% of any profit therefore in your example that would be £250K If I've learnt anything from playing Football Manager it's a percentage of the full price, not profit, ha.

Koke Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Keane hoping for last-day deal They have a pretty good squad but are in desperate need of a left back.
Asha Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Keane hoping for last-day dealThey have a pretty good squad but are in desperate need of a left back. Could this be us? Keane said after Sunderland's game against Manchester City yesterday that the Wearside club had "backed out" of a deal because another club had "moved the goalposts".
Ric Flair Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Could this be us? I think that was George McCartney at West Ham.
Lets Be having You Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 George McCartney to sunderland, fresh from talk sport
Big Ol' Bob Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Leaves West Ham with no left backs?? Hmmm, could a late bid for our Joe be on the cards I wonder?
Corky Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 I really want Mattock to stay, to show the rest of football that, despite our League 1 status, we won't roll over and give in to Premiership club's demands.
morris1234 Posted 1 September 2008 Author Posted 1 September 2008 sunderland are after george mcartney now so cant see this happening!
Unabomber Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 sunderland are after george mcartney now so cant see this happening! Might lead to West Ham putting in a bid though!
Southern Fox Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Maybe they might want Chris Powell rather than Mattock
Father Ted Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 sunderland are after george mcartney now so cant see this happening! So no Fulop...
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Can Mattock actually be sold today because surely he wouldn't pass a medical? After what happened with Matt Piper, you'd think Sunderland might be extra cautious.
Corky Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Can Mattock actually be sold today because surely he wouldn't pass a medical? After what happened with Matt Piper, you'd think Sunderland might be extra cautious. He can. Most injured players head to West Ham.
Bryn Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Injured players can be transferred can't they? I think it's if the injury is longterm, something that's going to permanently niggle the player.
Uncle Albert Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Mcartney had a medical this morning at Sunderland didnt he? Cant see Mattock leaving now.
