Tabou Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 It was horrible. Just arrived at a bar at one of Londons "Trendy" bars. Took my coat of, scanned the joint, nothing out of the ordinary really, it was a bit quiet, but then it was about midnight, and I suppose most people were heading to the clubs. Ordered a Gin & Tonic and a Whiskey with ice. Walked into the back bar (quite dark) to find a nice little table whilst the barman bought over the drinks. And then:- BAMMMMM!!! He slams a £16.20 bill in front of my eyes. For TWO drinks!!!!!!! £16.20 !!!! Thieving bast*rds!!! Never have I felt so humiliated, violated and scared in my whole life. If anybody else has had a similar experience, I feel for you.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 London is ridiculous. You want value, you go to Liverpool.
Munzie Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 I got ripped off at almost all Leicester games last season.
Tabou Posted 30 November 2008 Author Posted 30 November 2008 Was he black? He was definately from another planet if he thinks £16.20 is acceptable for two drinks. Fcuking joker. Yet I still paid it, like a chump. And then bought another round. I hate what alcohol does to me.
Tabou Posted 30 November 2008 Author Posted 30 November 2008 I have taken a photo of the receipt, which I intend to petition to the House of Commons. This sort of disgrace needs public airing/outcry.

Nationwider Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 London can **** off. I only go there when the taxpaying public pays for my food and drink.

I hate what alcohol does to me. yeah, well i live on that planet - i bought a round in one of the cheapest pubs in the city (2 beers, 2 double vodkas and coke) and it was almost 45 quid.
shen Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 What drinks were they? Those prices would be standard here for drinks other than beer...

If you're talking about London, that wasn't one of the cheapest pubs in the city. What city are you talking about?
Lillehamring Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 If you're talking about London, that wasn't one of the cheapest pubs in the city. What city are you talking about? OSLO!!!! The biggest rip off in london for me recently was at koko, something like 3 quid for a can of fosters, didn't even get a plastic cup! just got back from gøteborg, expecting it to be much cheaper and it was still pretty pricey - didn't get mugged tho.
The People's Hero Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 My mate has just spent a week in Copenhagen. He said beer was about £5 a pint. He didn't stop moaning all night. Is this just Copenhagen or is Denmark just full of people who don't drink? Losers.
Unabomber Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Last time I went on a night out in London it was Zoo Bar and £2.50 for dbl Vodka with any mixer, or £2 for a bottled beer. Good times.

Is this just Copenhagen or is Denmark just full of people who don't drink? Losers. i had my cousins over last week and they found it very difficult to justify spending £2 (or similar) on a mars bar, but to me it's like ten minutes work... if any of you visit scandinavia: DON'T CONVERT YOUR CURRENCY WHEN YOU BUY STUFF - or you won't spend any money, and have a shit time...
The People's Hero Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 I wouldn't spend 10 minutes worth of my pay on a Mars bar. No way. And I LOVE Mars bars.

Alexikokopops Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 TPH and I were drinking fine cocktails at £8 a pop on Saturday night. Really really straight cocktails. In Soho.

Alexikokopops Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Did you go to the dubstep "festival"? We rocked up about half 11 and the queue was longer than Ian Ormondroyd, so we ended up in Angel instead
