But he has scored more goals this season that Porter has in his whole Leicester career.

Levi hasn't ever put in a performance like Dyer has when he's (Dyer) been on form this season. I think one of Dyer's ordinary performances equates to one of Levi's good ones.

I like Levi but your constant whining of why he isn't in the squad and championing of him tends to get annoying. Pearson has done a cracking job this season and contrary to last season our midfield is better, without Levi.

Levi never represented a lack of goals or assists and, considering he's never played in this midfield or for this team more than for a very short period (and that after almost a full season's lay-off) I've got no idea where you have the evidence about our midfield being better without him

The issue of Pearson's performance as a manager isn't in question and nor did my comments about Porter have anything to do with suggesting he should be ahead of Dyer in the pecking order although whether Dyer shows himself to be a better all-round player over the course of time and in The Championship remains to be seen.

Me I see Porter as cover for either wing and either central midfield berth but basically - and simply for his own good - I think he should leave and, in fact, should have left months ago. Perhaps even pre-season when he looked to be in excellent form.

That is not to even imply that Pearson is wrong about him. If Pearson prefers certain players in his lkine up he may be right and some of those left out might still be good players. Wesolowski might be cited as an example.

But given Pearson's choices so far, particularly preferring even Adams against Palace, then there seems to be no evidence to suggest that Porter will ever be top of his selection list and I would think it would be very hard for the lad to change that.

The problem for Porter might be getting another club to remember that he can play and to offer him a chance to resurrect his career.

Especially as, presumably, they would be informed of any non-football problems relating to Porter that might have explained his exile in the first place. I only say might because there's has never been any comment as to why the lad went awol or any official reference to problems of any kind. But unlike you I find his fall from favour a mystery.

from what i hear he is like stearman was when he was with us , he likes his pop a bit too much.

If football was to ditch everyone who likes their "pop" the nation would be watching five-a-side games.

And if FoxesTalk did the same this "ship" would be like the Marie Celeste.

But Thrach, on that basis how on earth can you argue that we would not have got relegated last season had he been playing?

Because he did play in 2006/2007 in the Championship and contributed 10 goals/assists in his 20-something starts. There is no reason to have expected he would do worse in his second season playing in a similar team.

It wasn't as if we'd have needed many more goals to survive. One more win would have done it. I've every confidence that Porter, King, Gradel, Sheehan would have each made that much difference and collectively we'd have been comfortable.

Sorry if it grates! But I did say so at the time. Indeed several times from pre-season to the end of January in our relegation year. It was glaringly obvious we would not score enough.

There is no evidence at all to say how well Porter would playing Division One football in our current team. But I cannot imagine why he would do worse than in the Championship, especially as the current side is considerably better as an attacking unit. :D

These assist tables are a bit of a joke , lets say Gilbert picks the ball up at right back and beats 10 men , plays it to Fryatt who rolls it to Howard to score then its Fryatt who gets the assist despite Gilbert going past 10 !!!!

For me id like to see Porter involved a bit more and certainly infront of Adams , Levi is not in the 1st team because the options are far better but he would be on my bench and i wouldnt be letting him go

That's how it is officially although it is not the way I see it. Ineed Manwell in particular used to grumble at me for using the concept of extended assists. :D

But, of course, all passes in a move contribute to the goal and some of the early ones, even the throw-out from the goalkeeper, can be significant.

Calm down Thrac.

Porter was on the bench in the cup game and like you say Dyer is playing shit recently.

Adams just ball watches, and most of the stuff Gradel did was ineffective on Saturday.

So Porter for me is as close as he has been all season to getting a game, or at least 20 minutes.

Simply because our 3 main midfielders who have played near to every game this season have already scored more than Levi has in one season.

Iirc the most Levi has scored in a season is 3. Oakley, King and Dyer all have more to their name, the last two double. Our goals against is excellent, which means our midfield must be doing a good job in protecting the back four. Or is that just something you use to boost Kingy?

Porter was very good for us in the first half of the 2006/07 season and there's enough there to suggest he has ability. But 2 seasons on and hardly anymore football to his name, I doubt he could automatically reach those performances again without some significant perserverance. It has amazed me he's not gone out on loan this season, something fishy is going on.

I also think Nicky Adams should be ahead of him in the pecking order, Adams has had a rough ride so far here but his season for Bury lasts eason was exceptional and he must be given time and chances to make the step up from League Two to League One. He's a goalscoring midfielder and i'm sure he has a future here, he just needs to take his chances when they come along. He looked quality in pre-season.

Ah but you're conveniently forgetting assists and extended assists.

And height.

Porter looked quality pre-season too but a fat lot of good it did him.

If Adams is going to prove himself a worthwhile signing, he's taking a long time about it but then, with the instant success demanded at Leicester, I don't think either he or Gradel are finding it easy to get the match time they need.

That im afraid is FOOTBALL , to suggest this is purely a Leicester demand is not true

Nice you should mention the defence. Porter was sound enough as a covering midfielder as is reflected in our defensive record for the 2006/7 season of 49 conceded in 46 League matches!

And his 10 goals/assists in his 30 starts is every bit as good as all but a couple of our players in today's midfield especially at the higher level. Oakley didn't get anything like that in The Championship for us. In fact he was singularly disappointing.

Last season, I thought Oakley had about 3 bad games for us, he was solid on his debut and went on from there.

Anyway I'd sell Porter, did a few things the other season but other than that he is a poor player - a bit like a few other players in the squad.

Bert mate, you are obviously not getting it.

We defend well - it was down to Porter

We attack well - it was down to Porter

I just don't know what it is you are not understanding.

Hmmm.

We've defended and attacked well without Levi this season though. Explain that!

On a personal note:

When I have a good poo - it was down to Porter

When Mrs Singh is sexually gratified - it was down to Porter

This Porter guy is a god!!!!

He's acted as a "mentor" to the defence and attack
