Gilbert 6 (Not at his best at all. Defended okay when necessary but his support play was indifferent) Hobbs 7.5 (Orient got no change from him. Modest mark because the visitors posed so little threat). Tunchev 7.5 (Usual seemingly effortless performance. Never seriously pressured) Berner 6.5 (Some good, some bad. Didn't look to contribute enough going forward for me). Oakley 8 (Smashing goal from a terrific move. Always involved and often a threat. Davies 8.5 (Excellent goal, instrumental in winning the penalty and far too much for Orient to handle). King 7.25 (Knitted everything together. I nicknamed him the cleaner cos he regained control of so many situations and quietly set up our play once more. Decent free-kick cleared off the line.). Dyer 6 (Not bad but not especially convincing again and deserved to be subbed) Howard 7.25 (Had he scored from that volley near the end after a 10-15 pass move it would have been the goal of the season. Made the goal for Davies and gave the Orient defenders nothing but trouble with his touches, flicks and his ability to shield the ball). Fryatt 7 (First goal assist for Oakley and did well to complete 90 minutes after his injury). Subs Mattock 6 (Just okay. Made one excellent run inside the box after Gradel put him through which might have produced a goal). Gradel 6.5 (The game had gone flat before Gradel came on and he livened it up some. Couple of good runs into the box but suffered because City had virtually stopped running off the ball by that time and he was inexplicably left without support at times). Dickov 6.5 (Played a part in the penalty build up and took the spot kick with attitude to end any faint hopes Orient might have had). Pearson 9 (Apart from our gradually increased negativity in the second half I thought he picked the right team, the right substitutes and had everyone focused. Indeed our closing down was a ral feature for much of the game and some of our one-touch football was a treat to watch. Three more goals at home, eight successive home League wins, 13 games unbeaten. What happy days.)
Munzie Posted 10 January 2009 Posted 10 January 2009 Just got back. Fcuking freezing! If anyone has found a pair of bollocks at the bottom of the Kop, they're mine as they froze off. Martin 7 - Not much to do, but what he did do, he did well. Good communication with the back line. Gilbert 7 - Great to see him getting forward at times to help out. Was out-jumped every time today against their big striker and had a few mis-placed passes/tackles. That said, I'd still like to see him sign for us. Hobbs 7 - Playing alongside 'the Tunch' is helping his game no end. Solid display today. Tunchev 7.5 - Dependable as ever. Was concerned when he went down injured, but he just doesn't do injuries - Fact! Berner 6.5 - Would prefer Mattock to start, but Bruno gave a good account of himself today. Oakley 8 - He's here, there, every fcuking where! Another captain's performance today. Great goal. Davies 8.5 - MOM. Created so much and capped a great performance with a brave goal. Sign him up! King 7 - Becoming more dependable each time he plays. Good distribution. Dyer 7 - Still waiting for that Dyer magic to return. When he gets going, he scares defences sh*tless. Just need more of it. Howard 7 - Ever the target man. Another solid display. Fryatt 7 - Great running today and good to see him passing the ball around. I was worried that he would be selfish with Oakley's goal, but had good vision to play him through. Subs Mattock 6.5 - Time for a start. Gradel 6 - Still overcoming a confidence issue. Ran himself into trouble on a few occasions and didn't seem to be the preferred option for the rest of the team to play to. Looked very p*ssed off when Dickov took the ball off him for the penalty. Dickov 6.5 - Extra half point for the penalty. Did look a little more lively than of late. Referee & Lino 0 - What a pair of tw*ts.
Champ Posted 10 January 2009 Posted 10 January 2009 How can u all only be marking Howard 6 & 6.5s? he won almost everything today, apart from when the ref blew hes whistle (the fooking Socialist). Orients defence didnt have a clue what to do with him!!!
Bert Posted 10 January 2009 Posted 10 January 2009 Martin 7 - A clean sheet, done what he had to do well, and very good communication. Gilbert 6 - Nowhere near his best today. Berner 6 - Steady performance. Hobbs 7 - Won everything, but it wasn't hard. Tunch 7 - See Hobbs. Oakley 8 - A good goal, good neat passes, always a threat. Dyer 6 - Needs a goal, suffering a massive mid season drought. Davies 9 - Excellent. We've not had a player like him since Muzzy. King 7.5 - Won the ball and knocked off a successful pass, Nearly scored with a rasping free-kick. Howard 7 - Moaned a lot which nearly got him a booking, from the vice captain that isn't good enough. Still, wins everything in the air, has a great touch and knocks it off well. Fryatt 6.5 - Looked sharp after having only trained for two days, ran the line well. Mattock 6 - He needs to start against Palace. Gradel 6 - A slight glimpse of his earlier season form. Dickov 6 - Scored.

Berner-7 Good but needs to get forward a bit more. Oakley-8 Great finish and good all round play. King-8 Awesome today,great game! Davies-9 Man of the match, Brave goal always gives us that something extra with his pace and ability to take it round people. Dyer-7 Better game still weird dip of form, didnt look to happy to come off! Howard-7 Good game and good assist. Fryatt-7 Reasonably good game back from injury at least he wasnt greedy and passed and Thracian he didnt play 90 minutes SUBS Dickov-7 Was so pleased he got a goal when i met him in Leeds he said he was frustrated he hadnt got more. Mattock-5 Wasnt impressed. Gradel-7 Livened the game up and played well!
DB11 Posted 10 January 2009 Posted 10 January 2009 I think this is the lowest I've ever rated a winning team Tunchev had a bad game (compared to what we're used to with him) Gilbert was poor and a liability Fryatt has either got lazy now he got the contract or defenders are just keeping him quiet King was overshadowed by Davies Martin was alright

Hobbs 7 Solid enough Tunchev 8 Won everything he had to without giving the appearance of being remotely stretched. Distributes effectively. Berner 6 Was tiring in the second half but a few nice passes in the first. Oakley 7 Great finish, looks liberated on the right. Davies 9 Sign the boy up. His ability to turn ordinary situations into penetrating attacks is priceless. Still making lung busting runs to win the penalty in the 83rd minute. King 7 Quietly effective. Dyer 6 Out of form at the moment, can't get in the game. Perhaps we should give Gradel a start against Crystal Palace. Fryatt 6 Quiet, but good to see him aware of others for the first goal. Howard 8 Won everything in the air and held he ball up really well. *****Subs***** Dickov 7 Looked lively, glad he got the goal. Would be useful if we can rust him as adaquete cover, took a step towards that today. Gradel 7 Threatening and willing. I'm amazed how quickly people forget how excited we were about this lad at the start of the season. Mattock 7 Good running in the little time h had. Not quite sure why he was on the bench.

Legend_in_blue Posted 10 January 2009 Posted 10 January 2009 That was the worst opposition I have seen in a long time. They were awful. It was like watching a friendly game. Anyway, onto the ratings... Martin - 6 - Just stood and watched. Gilbert - 7 - He was ok. Defensively he seems to get better for me. Hobbs - 7 - Never tested and looked very solid. Tunchev - 8 - Even with his hands tied behind his back, he would still take the monkeys. Berner - 6.5 - He's ok. Sometimes his distribution was suspect. Positionally, good. Oakley - 8 - Constantly involved. Took goal really well. King - 8 - I think we'll struggle to keep hold of him after next season. He's really looking the part for me. Davies - 9 - He took on the whole team with his mazy runs in the first half. He played one fantastic ball through at one point. He is a great player. Reminded me of the good old days with Izzet today. :thumbsup: Dyer - 6 - Another quiet game. Didn't do a lot. Fryatt - 6 - Quiet game from him too. Howard - 7.5 - Constant threat, their defenders couldn't handle him and constantly fouled him - and got away with it. Subs: Mattock - 6 - He did ok but I can't understand the hype surrounding him. Bring back Powell. Gradel - 6.5 - He looked better on the left than Dyer. But only just. Dickov - 6 - Took the penalty well. Didn't get booked. Result. Referee and his idiotic linesmen - 0 - Useless. NP - 10 - Full marks to NP. Great job so far, keep it going.

Guest Bilo Posted 11 January 2009 Posted 11 January 2009 Martin - 6 - Nothing to do. Could have had a cup of Bovril and a meat pie, at least he'd have been warm. Gilbert - 8 - Little to do at the back but linked well with Oakley. Hobbs - 7 - A spectator for long periods but what he had to do, he did well. Tunchev - 8 - Far too good for anything Orient could throw at him. Berner - 7 - Distribution fitful but clearly more than good enough to be a regular fixture in the squad. Oakley - 8 - Caused Orient major problems and scored with a cracking finish. King - 8 - An excellent talent and very consistent for a player of his age. Good passing and an intelligent player. Davies - 9 - MOTM by a distance. Ran at Orient all day, good passing and looked like a player who could do the business in the Championship at the very least. Will be missed when he returns to Wolves. Dyer - 6 - Not at his best. Fryatt - 6 - Quite disappointing to be honest but that could be due to him not fully recovering from his injury. Howard - 7 - Constantly causing problems with his physical threat and looked very keen to impress. Subs: Mattock - 6 - Nothing special when he came on but didn't need to be against a toothless attack. Gradel - 7 - Looked keen and skinned their defence on more than one occasion. Most naturally talented player in the squad but needs to improve his distribution. Dickov - 7 - Nice to see him score and he looked eager when he came on. REFEREE - 5 - Not good at all. But at least he wasn't the bloke we had for Bristol Rovers. Pearson - 8 - Impressive football and City were never in danger. He also made right decisions in terms of subs. The kind of football Pearson has us playing deserves success and with every game that passes that success looks imminent. League 1 Champions after Southend game (you heard it here first).
