Arsenal really need to strengthen in the summer because providing he stays, I think this will be Wenger's last summer in charge if things carry on.

Their attacking options when the team are fully fit are quality, Adebayor, RVP, Vela, Eduardo, Nasri, Rosicky, Walcott & probably Arshavin.

Then the spine of their team is awful, they have never coped with the loss of Flamini. If Fabregas still had Flamini next to him & pick any of the two above to play either side then that would be a solid midfield.

Pretty similar situation at the back. Sagna & Clichy are very good full backs, Toure barely gets played in the back, Silvestre is shit, Gallas is a moron & then it leaves you with Johan Djorou :ermm:

Mr. Wenger needs to pray they somehow sneak 4th place & qualify for the Champions League.

He needs to get rid of crap like Bendtner, Denilson, Song, Silvestre, Djorou etc & buy a central midfielder or two, a central defender or two & a goalkeeper.

He obivously wont though, just amazing that everyone can see it except him!

Wenger's got God-like status at Arsenal, where any slight criticism of him is considered treason, but the bare facts are that he hasn't won a trophy for four years, one title challenge in five years and have gone backwards in that time.

They need a major revamp if they are to challenge the top three (and Villa as well).

Turned down an offer by Hoffenheim before they got Sanogo as a replacement for Ibisevic. I can understand why he wants to stay, and why Wenger wants his physical presence, but I agree that he's out of his depth at Arsenal. As for who Arsenal should go for, they desperately need a winger too!

People saying Arshavin has been over hyped, and built this reputation, after two Euro games need to rethink everything. There is a reason people, especially Russians, were expecting big, big, things from him in the Euros, and my, how the side changed when he was in it. When he arrived they played arguably some of the best football in that competition, after being drubbed by the Spanish.

He's been the heartbeat of an ever improving Zenit side, and he's been consistently brilliant in the Russian League for the past few seasons.

He's one of the most naturally gifted carriers of the ball in world football, almost as if the ball is stuck to his feet. His touch and technique are first calss, as is his movement. Obviously, the transfer itself has been overhyped, this is Arsenal's first big money purchase since Reyes in reality. But I can assure any doubters, that Arshavin the player has NOT been over hyped one iota.

We'll see anyway.

I would call the Walcott transfer a big one too (potentially £12 mil for a then unproven 16-year old).

I rate Arshavin as well. I thought he, Modric, Pavlyuchenko and Senna were the absolutely outstanding players at the Euro's and he was excellent during the UEFA cup when Zenit won. He's clearly got some ability, but it's always a gamble with players of his type.

Nope, hugely over-hyped transfer. From what I've seen he looks a decent player, but there's got to be reasons why he's never made it further than Zenit in his career? Two good games at the Euros has earned him this move, that's it.

Saying that is basically guesswork and ignoring what you HAVE seen. Arshavin was immense at the Euros, being talked about in certain circles before that, and Zenit are a pretty big club who've paid him well.

Who's seen him play other than in the Euros, really? Few if any here, but I bet Wenger's been watching some tapes.

Phube won't like this.

It's no surprise!!

But this is another reason why I hate Arsénal, this transfer (from what I understand) happened in "Extra time" according to the agent & TalkSport... so it technically fell outside of the transfer window...

But the FA have allowed it for some reason... would they have allowed Hull to do this?
