I remember my sisters boyfriend at the time running out of the house and jumping around in the road. Love it. AND PLATT HAS DONE IT IN THE LAST MINUTE OF EXTRA TIME !!!

I enjoyed the Euros more than any tournament before, it was nice to watch some great football and great drama. Since beating Germany 5-1 have England really showed any flair or style or passion? On another note England have players such as Rooney whom I cannot stand. EDIT: Would definitely rather Leicester win FA Cup than England win the wold cup btw. Would take a Leicester play-off final over England World cup.

lavrentis Posted 19 February 2009 Posted 19 February 2009 Losing to Argentina was the first time I cried thanks to Football, was second time my Dad took me to the pub to watch it aswell and I felt like a right cool kid. Sipping a swig of my Dad's beer. Half time me and aload of my Barrow Juniors mates were down the pub and we went outside and started playing Footy and making different scenario's up for England winning. That night was also the last time I ever wore that England shirt from '98 my most favourite one aswell. Goodtimes. Which pub in Barrow was that mate?

Are we suppose to just move on accept what evers thrown at us. Bollocks. So at club level, why didn't you wake up and smell the coffee after years of delusion and atrocious performances, both on and off the pitch, by the club? You didn't chose England, and you didn't chose Leicester. They chose you. Fair enough you like your club more than your country, but the people I don't really get is those who continuously slag the national team off, even when they are playing. Those who specifically booed Frank Lampard under the McLaren era are a bunch of brainless idiots. We never do that at Leicester games, even when we had games like Hull away or Charlton away last season. We kept the slagging off on messageboards, to our mates and on radio phone-ins. But not at the actual games.

Also remember my dad walking off when it went to penalties, because he couldn't bear it! Euro 2000 was a bit different though, can't really remember that one. Whereas 2 years later I was bawling my eyes out when Brazil done us.

Beat the Germans, then Phil Neville done us out of a quarter final place. Last time i cried was euro 96.

I can remember I was playing football in the garden the night we played Portugal, and my Dad came out to tell me we were 2-0 up, so I went inside and watched the rest of the match. Oh dear <_<

Tommeh Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 Euro 96 really got me into football aged 8 magical tournament, hooked ever since. France 98 was fantastic also I can watch that Owen goal over and over. I think I've shed a tear everytime we've been knocked out of a major tournament.

But not at the actual games. Different things completely mate. Your club play week in week out so your more involved and more attached to your team naturally. All I ask as a fan is that they show the same passion as the fans and im not talking just about the players im talking about the f.a and everyone behind the scenes. Yes Leicester had a blip last season and there was lack of passion but that has been eradicated this season and the fans are happy about it. To be honest since Capello has taken charge ive been impressed with how he's got england playing and not afraid to make major decisions but I left that out as I was posting about the subject which is the fans. I for one was not happy about Capello as I wanted an English manager mainly due to the circus we became under sven even though not a bad record we were taken to the cleaners with the contracts given to the manager and the expense it cost the fan. Comparing a national team with players who are potential superstars (and not to forget earn a hell of a lot of money) to a team in the championship last season is not really the same thing is it. Not forgetting the frequency of national games compared to club games and not forgetting geographical location etc etc Im not saying your wrong and I agree with your post about people booing the team. Maybe I came across in the wrong way and I apoligise it's just I don't need people to tell me how I should support my team.

Err, yes. It's only four months since we stuffed Croatia in their own backyard - and they were ranked among the world's best at the time. I have an excuse for not being that bothered about the national team, i am also part ukrainian, meaning that i have the choice between the two, i live in england and have done all my life, so when i was younger i supported them, now i am older i want to grasp my ukrainian heritage a bit more and have supported them for the last 2 years, although i have always kept my eye out for the england matches and watched most of them on tv and been to a couple. i hope this doesn't make me plastic in any way

purpleronnie Posted 21 February 2009 Posted 21 February 2009 I want England to win every match (I'm sure you won't believe that) and infact I feel so nervous when they play I cant watch them. I did lose heart for a while because it always ended in dissapointment it was easier not to be concerned with it.I think a lot of people dislike what happens to the country when England play in a major tournament, all the white van 'ingerland' rubbish, plus how the press react to a win 'now we'll win the world cup' then when we lose 'the players (but usually the manager) are a disgrace'. The constant belief that we have the best players in the world even when we don't even qualify. And it does look like some England players would rather spend their time sunning themselves on a beach somewhere rather than play for England where other countries players look like they would die on the field for their country. I just wished the fans and the press would just relax a little, but we love football so much in England that when the national side play we can't help but get completely hyped up. Which makes the fall so much harder. And some like me can't handle it to often. After robbie savages comments this has been proven true, I'm sure he's not the only one.

Maybe my forgetting it highlights my disinterest. With regards to Rooney, he is an iritating foul-mouthed yob. His footballing skills bear no importance on my liking of him.

Why should I support a team with no passion, no unity? Back in Euro 96 when you had the likes of gazza, shearer, sheringham, ince etc they played for the badge, didn't trawll around with there wags and we had an english manager with passion. That has all been lost and is now one commercial mockery of a national team. Look at teams like Russia, Holland, Italy, Spain there players are proud to put on the shirt. Here it seems players are worried what the papers will make of them. Our team should be picked on merit not the big names. Picked on passion. The f.a is also a joke paying ridiculous sums of moneys to hire foreign managers and not giving the chance to home grown managers. Also the people who hire these managers are a joke as the majority havn't even got a football background and are just suit's.
