WITHOUT WRITING IT DOWN OR USING A CALCULATOR. ADD UP IN ORDER -Work this out.

1000 + 40 + 1000 + 30 + 1000 + 20 + 1000 + 10 =

4100

(highlight to see answer after posting yours).

Seems easy but apparently most people get this wrong.

most people get 5000

.

I'm not sure if it'll work being typed in and all.

4100.

How do you get 5000?

Because your brain tricks you into thinking its adding up to a thousand

How do you get 5000?

It's a psychological thing.

There is a reason why the question was structured that way.

ha ha. GsLC got it wrong.

Mine didn't, and there are rumours as to whether I have one.

It works better on T.V because when its written down most people just add up the 1000s first.

I got 5000.

Dont get it.

When you get to 4090, you add 10.

Which is 4100, but because of the way the question is, some people go straight up to 5000. Just psychological.

Am I the only person that added up the thousands and then went back to add up the tens?

I got straight to 4100 without a hitch.
