To be fair, I think they do a great job.

My main gripe with our own fans is to take last season for example.

We had 6,000 "fans" make it to Chelsea on a Wednesday night. Soon after, we played away at Burnley on a tuesday night, the tickets were cheaper, and the the travelling distance had about 20 miles in it. Where were they then?

I know everyone can't always get the time off work and/or have other commitments, but I'll bet at least half of the people that went Chelsea could've made it to Burnley.

Not if you live in London! ;) I'd love to make it to every game but getting up to Burnley or wherever for a 7.45 kick off having finished work at 6pm is blatantly not going to happen.. on occasion I've taken afternoons off to travel but I can't take the piss and do that every time.

It would be interesting to see what the nationwide distribution of our fans is, I expect there is a sizable group in London with the majority in the Midlands and a few dotted around everywhere else..

Ticket office have always been great for me too, no complaints on the email service.

To be fair Burnley is a lot harder to get to and back from by train on a Tuesday night. That's why I couldn't make it for that reason whereas London was well easy to get to and from.

I remember looking around at that match and not recognising a single face nearby, this is from a supporter who has attended almost every away game in the last 14 or so years and generally sees the same faces at most matches.

And lets face it, unless we draw one of the big boys in the cup next season then apart from Forest, I can't see any games being a mad rush due to the larger allocations. Even Derby and Cov away dont always sell out.

Mucho agreed. The situation on Dons and P'boro tickets has been a first really. Never have we sold so many tickets per hour.

Even when we've taken 4,000 etc. to places like Barnsley and local derbies, none of them have sold at that rate.

Can't really blame the ticket office for the system used either, that's the clubs problem there.

They've been great for me, I've got tickets for every away match I want or wanted to go to, and I understand that some matches I may not be able to get tickets for.

My priority will go up for next season which is handy, but they've always kept me informed when I sent a letter or e-mail to them.

As davie says, it can be frustrating for people when they don't receive a reply, maybe even to say that they're busy and will get on to it later, so you are left in the dark.

On the whole, they do a good job, and it must be difficult when you've got a large queue, phone calls and e-mails to deal with. These criticisms only occur when the popular matches come around- the rest of the time there seems to be no problem.

As Bert said its the fault of the fans who suddenly appear for these games not the ticket office. In my opinion they do a great job and have never let me down.

The only ticketing problem I've had was Stoke last season but that was more a fault of the club in accepting a smaller allocation. THEN realizing how vital the match was.

I certainly know that you Alex, try to get as many games as you possibly can.

I do think that the system needs revising for away games. I have been to 18 matches this season, and 8 of those were away.

So even if you did have a season ticket, you're only just banging on the door of Priority 2. :dunno:

davieG has hit the nail on the head.

I've always found the staff friendly and helpful either over the phone or when I've gone into the ticket office. However, due to the lack of resources and/or poor systems in place when there is high demand for tickets things seem to fall apart a little.

I certainly don't try and read as much of the post as I possibly can, I missed that last bit!

Does the club get any financial incentive to sell away tickets? I think there is a split for cup games but not for league games. Apart from the benefit of getting support for the team in away games it is perhaps understandable that the club should not give too much priority to selling away tickets if it affects the ability to sell home tickets. Just a thought.

If that really was a problem then they should look at all the other disincentives to attending home game because there seems to be quite a few and it's nothing to do with ticket selling

Second this, this took the biscuit for me.

I thought that this thread was about the efficiency or otherwise of the Ticket Office not whether or not people go to away matches.

There's plenty of capacity at home games - our ground is too big for us!

oh come on, that was always going to happen. it's not a problem with our fans, just the fickle nature of football fans in general. it's just obvious the more important and/or glamourous matches will have greater demand. that is the same with every club and every set of fans.

Considering the majority of City fans(including me) are as thick as shite, and half the time probably dont even know what tickets they have gone to buy, i think the T.O do a pretty decent job.

Obviously now and again they fcuk up big time(ie im still waiting for my Daughters FREE SEASON TICKET!!!) but on the whole they do a good job.

Don't think so.

Man Utd, Newcastle, Sunderland, Everton, Liverpool sell out their away allocation to every single game, whether it be away in the league cup at Barnet on a Wednesday night or just another domestic game. Most of the time when they're in Europe they do too.

Granted these are all Premiership teams, but to say that it's the same at every club, is wrong.

It becomes a problem when people who can't get season tickets, but still go to just as many games, get screwed out of tickets because the fair weather fans turn up, (who have priority 3 because they're season ticket holders) because it's a big game, or it's local.

me too, sorry.. early mornings..

mark me down as another Jim fan - I sent an email anyway to see if I could bag a return, got the autoreply saying it was sold out but also a personal reply from Jim too despite the fact I bet they're snowed under with mails at the moment from people trying their luck :appl:

I was told that there is a scheme for getting away season tickets reserved for all away matches at the start of the season - they are sent to you and your bank account debited unless you return them to the club. Is this scheme of assistance or does it only apply to Season Ticket holders?
