Daggers Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Dunno. The card went up very quickly as I recall, and the ref ran to Howard to brandish it, not the other way around, so it looked to me like a card for diving, but I suppose Howard could have said something as he got up which the ref didn't like. Deffo for dissent.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 I thought he got booked for mouthing off (quite rightly) to the referee didn't he? It was decent - it was quite a paddy he had!
martyn Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale 6.5 - Had barely anything to do but made a decent save from Robinson. Had a heart attack when he almost punched one into his own net Morrison 7.5 - Considering he's a centre back, thought he did fantastically well and was always available as an attacking option Brown 8 - Crap distribution, fantastic pure defending Hobbs 8 - Solid Mattock 6 - Clearly lacking in confidence Gradel 8 - Always available, worked his socks off and was intelligent with the possession he got. A potential gem Oakley 8 - Sometimes i feel he disappears, not today, we were all over the midfield King 7 - Quiet first half, more prominent second half. Typically unfussy display Dyer 9 - Roasted Douglas time and time again...genuinely brilliant wingers display Fryatt 6.5 - Worked hard but sometimes dwelled on it too long, not his day. Howard 8 - Thought Leeds had him well shackled but became more prominent as time went on. As soon as he leaped you could predict the outcome. Dickov 6
Mikey Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale - 7 Morrison - 7 Brown - 9 Hobbs - 7.5 Mattock - 6 Gradel - 8 Oakley - 7.5 King - 7.5 Dyer - 9 Fryatt - 7 Howard - 9 Subs: Dickov - 6.5
The Doctor Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 David Stockdale - 7 - made 1 or 2 good saves not much else to do. Michael Morrison -8 - solid at the back, good distribution Joe Mattock - 7 - best i've seen him play in a while Jack Hobbs - 7 - Didn't do much but what he did do he did well Wayne Brown - 8 - Ate becchio for lunch Max Gradel - 8 - Terrorised defence at times but some poor final balls Lloyd Dyer - 10 - Absolute menace. Tore leeds apart Matt Oakley - 9 - good performance, passing much better. still poor from corners Andy King - 8 - got forward well but didn't do that much Matty Fryatt - 7 - average Steve Howard - 9 - Bullet header for winner compensated for some poor play earlier Paul Dickov - 6 - did well when he came on and only the amount of time he played stopped him from getting a higher rating
lou Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale - 7 Morrison - 7 Did a good job Brown - 8 a leader at the back at once! Hobbs - 8 solid as usual Mattock - 6 better than some of his recent performances but still a long way short of the others. Dyer - 10 Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant....... welcome back Lloyd! Ran passed Douglas and Snodgrass so often I lost count. Oakley - 8.5 his set pieces let him down but thats all that did. Havent seen him look so hungry playing for Leicester! King - 7.5 Leeds were all over him like a rash but he coped better than I expected him to Gradel - 9 Love this kid, his passion, his enthusiasm and his skill on the ball. Nearly got into trouble but I just loved him even more for it! Wears his heart on his sleeve. Fryatt - 7 good game just wish he would release the ball to others in a better position. Howard - 9 another great game... won almost everything as usual and what a header!! Dickov - 7 did better than usual and didnt get sent off!
Guest Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale- 8 - I feel so much more comfortable with him in goal rather than Warner Morrison- 7 - Great job considering it's not his natural position Hobbs- 8 - Immense Brown- 8 - See above Mattock- 7 - Much better than Saturday, and really worked well with Dyer. You see, he can play well Gradel- 8 - A joy to watch this afternoon, as he was on saturday Oakley- 8 - Great performance and other than a couple of iffy corners and free kicks he looked solid King- 7 - Quality performace from Kingy Dyer- 8 - How good is it to have Lloyd back on form again for the run in? Fecking good I tells ya!! Fryatt- 7 - Worked really hard for the team, probably could've had a goal but a decent performance none the less Howard- 9 - What a legend! Dickov - 6 On another note, it was nice to see Cleverley had come back down to see the match. Got a good recognition from the fans for the effort he'd put in when they introduced him at half-time. Cheers Tom

ASH17LCFC Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale 7 - 1 Great saves b Morrison 7 - Did a very good job Brown 8 - Solid and his headers seem to go for miles Hobbs 8 - Best game i've seen him play Mattock 6 - Never impressed me, did a steady job Dyer 9 - Genius, Leeds defence couldn't cope. When he skined some Leeds lad, the leeds lad face read FFS Oakley 8 - Never stoped working, best performance from him. King 8 - Really got stuck in and also was looking to get forward as much as he could. Gradel 8 Fryatt 7 - Worked hard and had a good chance, not his day but ran his socks off. Howard 7 - Scored the winner but look lazy and mouthing off as usual. Won't cut it next season. Dickov 6 - Won the corner and upset the leeds defence.

Howard -8- great header and a really good display well done Fryatt -7- good enough today Dickov -6- always stirring things up ! Pearson 10 Picked the right team for the job ! leeds 0 came for a point and got f**k all
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale - 7 Morrison - 7, hardly put a foot wrong, not playing his preferred position, such a find by the scouts, really think he'll be a top championship defender. Mattock - 7, what got into him, he showed awareness and anticipation. Brown - 8 Jesus christ, you would be afraid of playing against him! Hobbs- 8 Mr consistent. Gradel - 7, lively, works really hard and appears to have the magic touch. Dyer - 8.5 back to his very best, frighteningly quick at times King- 8 put tackles in and fought, as well as not going missing, he's really come on this season. Oakley - 8.5 best performance in a city shirt by him for me. Fryatt - 6 where's the player that was here before xmas gone? Howard - 8.5, spirit, determination, blood, sweat, tears, he puts everything in.

They played some good stuff, clearly had some decent players, and had City not been unusually quick out of the traps today and strong enough to sustain 90 minutes of effort and concentration we might easily have taken just one point instead of three. Today's game was unquestionably one of the best contests I've watched in Division One and Leeds played their part in that. Yes, they were cagey but you might be forgiven for being less than expansive when playing away against against the League leaders. Leeds had a couple of decent chances to get ahead and certainly played enough football to create more against a less resilient defence. For me it was the fact that Leeds looked a constructive and capable side that made City's achievement the greater. They faced a considerable challenge and every one of our players needed to show character in steering us to victory. Indeed it was a feature for us today that not one player let us down when we needed them.

Work with a Leeds fan who has been given me grief as we have wobbled and they have put together that run......he was looking forward towards beating us......he isnt answering his mobile !
Cobbo Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale - 8 - Everything spot on but for the punch onto the bar. His kicking ability is out of this world. Morrison - 7 - Delph? Mike did a great job at right back today Hobbs - 8 - Dominant. Really dominant. Brown - 8 - I thought the guy was an animal today - wanted to eat the entire city of Leeds. But eat Becchio instead. Mattock - 6 - average Joe Gradel - 8 - He works so hard. And his ability is brilliant. His first touch is amazing. King - 7 - Ticked over, but light weight at times Oakley - 9 - Amazing today. Ability on the ball, but how many hard challenges was he throwing himself into? Loved it. Dyer - 9 - Lloyd is back. Beat the full back over and over - we loved it. Real quality Lloyd. Fryatt - 7 - Worked so har in the first half especially. Ran the channels. Howard - 8 - BAM! Eat that. Brilliant all round again too. I love the Steve. Subs: Dickov - 7 - nuisence Berner - 7 - we scored when he was on.
Blue Bob Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Stockdale 7.5 (One outstanding save when we needed it second half in tipping a rasping shot from Andy Robinson over the bar. Two or three other timely saves even if he needed two bites at one of them). Morrison 7.5 (Considering he's a fish out of water in the right back role I thought he did fine and made sure that Gradel saw his share of possession. Thought his booking was harsh - basically for taking the ball off a bloke who tried to run through him but that was just about the only moment of satisfaction the Leeds bloke got). Hobbs 7.75 (Had a good game. I even thought he tried to play the ball simply from defence when he got the chance and looked far better for it. A clean sheet is good for any defender and against Leeds it is even better) Brown 7 (I liked a lot of what he did but he gave away 50% of his passes and almost all through making the wrong choice by electing the difficult pass over the simple one. One (this time correct decision) saw him try to feed Dyer and hoist it over his head and way into the distance. That said the defence looked sound and organised). Mattock 7 (One of his best game sfor the club. Pearson learned from Hereford and made sure Kingy or someone else gave him support. Yes, as with others, there were errors but he gave little chance today for people to run at him and was well involved at all stages of the game). Gradel 8 (Another assist with his corner for Howard's late, late winner and what a positive and enthusiastic performance. He caused Leeds lots of problems and should have produced a goal for us earlier with a brilliant low cross which ran through the six yard box with no-one getting a touch. But it's his improved decision making that's really encouraging and his much more competent defensive contribution as illustrated by two important clearances, one off the goalline, in quick succession. I noticed Pearson had prolonged words, presumably of congratulations, afterwards and how well they would have been deserved. He fought for something in every phase of the game) Oakley 7.75 (Excellent in general. Always involved and always looking to make something happen. Okay, his corners could still be more venemous but I thought our midfield did much to limit the attacking opportunities which fell to Leeds with their rapid closing down and covering in which Oakley played his part). King 7.75 (Several shots and several headers meant he was always a threat and, once again, he was involved and mostly accurate in his distribution. Times he wriggled into dangerous positions in and around the box, bringing important saves or blocks and on one occasion he brought an excellent save from the Leeds keeper who pushed a shot around the post. Found time to back up Mattock too on occasions.). Dyer 8.5 (Mesmerised the Leeds defenders who looked no closer to stopping him at the end than at the beginning. Inside or outside he lett them stranded like beached whales. Showed his intentions early on by leaving two men in his wake and shooting wide. Howard was one who might have benefitted from the chances he created in what was a wonderful display of almost traditional wing play. Howard 8.5 (Shame on all those who have criticised this guy. His headed winner was two fingers to Leeds and two fingers to the arsehole of a referee who booked him for daring to tell him the truth, that he had cocked up big time. Howard was blatantly pushed in the incident that got him booked but he had the last laugh and he was far too much for Leeds to be comfortable with all afternoon. One close range header which was more easily saved than it should have been was clearly just a sighting shot but how he savoured that winner and the perfect way to leave thousands of Leeds fans suddenly silent). Fryatt 7 (Worked hard, provided a lot of support, but sometimes held onto the ball too long.) Sub: Dickov 6 (Won corners when we needed them). Pearson 10 (Chose the obvious side and got them to play for 90 minutes. We restricted Leeds to very few chances and none of them easy, kept a clean sheet, created plenty ourselves from both sides of the field and finally won the game. Happy days and praise to him and to his team for giving us a game to savour.) Whats with the 7.75? Cant you just give a 7 or even an 8? At this rate by next season we will be at 5 decimal places!!! For me give them 10 each, important pressure game and against the Leeds scum, well worth 10 in my books!!
C-man Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I made the following observations... I think! Hobbs and Brown were brilliant at the back. Oakley was absolutely immense. Real, real, real captain's shift. Gradel gave everything. He's worth his weight in gold. He works so hard, and is capable of just doing something extraordinary. Dyer was scintillating. Made Douglas look Sunday League. Lloyd is definitely back. Andrei King did really well containing their threats from midfield. Another showing of experience far beyond his age. Could have had a couple too. My player of the season Howard was just Steve.

Koke Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Stockdale - 7Morrison - 7 Brown - 8 Hobbs - 8 Mattock - 7 Dyer - 9 Oakley - 7 King - 7 Gradel - 8 Fryatt - 6 Howard - 8 Subs: Dickov - 6 I'll agree with that. Though I would give Mattock a 6, he was certainly our weakest link and has been for some time.
Raj Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I thought Oaks wasnt great again(Its probably just me!) Max and Paddy Dyer were Awesome i thought. Joeys going thro abit of a dodgy patch Fryatt needs a goal soon to give him some confidence going into next season. Everyones else was V Good(Esp Big Brown)
SamL Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Stockdale 7 Morrison 7 Hobbs 7 Brown 7 Mattock 7 Gradel 8 King 7 Oakley 8 Dyer 9 Howard 8 Fryatt 7
Scow Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Stockdale - 8 Apart from the one dodgy moment in the first half, he was terrific - made a couple of great saves and his kicking was superb. Morrison - 7 Fitted well in at right back again - did what was required of him. Hobbs - 8 Another commanding performance at the back. He had Dickinson in his pocket all game. Brown - 8 He can't pass, and he's not the quickest, but his organisation and leadership is top notch. Mattock - 7 A better game from him today. His use of the ball was improved and he looked more assured at the back. Gradel - 8 Always looked lively and tried to make things happen. He does get a bit dragged in sometimes, but you can't fault his work rate. King - 8 You don't tend to notice him at times, though he'll spring in to life and make one good run, pass or shot. Kept the midfield ticking over well. Oakley - 9 Superb. Controlled that midfield area and played some wonderful passes. Dyer - 9 I can't choose between him or Oakley for MOM. Their right back (and a few of their other players for that fact) couldn't really handle him with his pace and direct running. Where has he been for all these months? Howard - 8 A typical steve performance: A constant threat in the air, combined with his neat play on the floor to bring others in to play. A well deserved goal. Fryatt - 7 Not his best game, but he worked his socks off. Chose the wrong option at times. Subs: Dickov - 7 Added some bite alongside Howard and got in to some good positions. Berner - N/A
Ash Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Stockdale 7 Morrison 7 Brown 8 Hobbs 7.5 Mattock 5.5 - Never gunna be a Premiership player, Anyone bids in couple of Mill, Id snap there hand off! Gradel 7 Oakley 6 King 7 Dyer 8 Howard 7 Fryatt 6
C-man Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Actually, I thought Morrison was very good yesterday. Harshly booked. Contained Delph really well before he moved inside when Robinson came on. Also supported Gradel well.
