Find it hard to get excited about it really. They'll prolly play a pretty weak team, they'll be fook all atmosphere and probably more ****** wearing Liverpool shirts than city ones. Then everyone will come on here afterwards and moan about how the fact we lost 3-0 to their reserve team shows how far we are away from premier league standard.

I wouldnt bank on it Liverpool playing a weaker team as such because if the proposed date is true of August 1st then this will probably be both teams last Friendly of the season, as we are coming up to the World Cup the League's start earlier. So the likes of Torres and Gerrard would probably get a substantial amount of playing time.

The rest of your post is probably true though!

GARGH! 1st-2nd August is my birthday weekend. Two teams I like (Atletico and PSG) are playing at the Emirates on the Sunday (my birthday), there's cricket on at Lords that weekend and we could be playing Liverpool on the Saturday, AND MY COUSIN HAS ONLY GONE AND ORGANISED HER WEDDING IN BRISTOL FOR THAT WEEKEND.

Fucks sake.

I agree. The ground will be full with local Liverpool shirt wearing ****** and the atmosphere will be wank. We will probably lose 3-0 with Ngog scoring twice.

This friendly does not appeal to me in all honesty. I've seen us play Liverpool many times and I remember times where we took them to the cleaners. Back when we were the dogs bollocks. Why couldn't we just play a foreign team like Weder Bremen or Galatasaray, or even Fenerbahce [for LD3's satisfaction] ;)

Well I hope you get your priorities sorted :P

I don't think it will be Liverpool, I think the person who told me would have said top 4 side if it was Liverpool but he said top 6, which makes me think its going to be Everton.

Liverpool are playing Espanyol away on August 2 as part of the deal which saw Albert Riera move to Anfield last summer. They are flying out to Norway a couple of days later to play SK Lym on August 6.

This, after flying to Switzerland and Bangkok.

Hope it's not them now because they will be unrecognizable.

Ain't L'pool then. Leaves Villa, United, Everton, Chelsea.

I am off to do some digging this lunch time.

It's not Chelsea - playing Aldershot albeit Chelsea XI.

Everton playing MLS ALl Stars in Salt Lake City on 29th July.

Could be Villa. They play Peterborough and Colchester on 18th and 21st July respectively.

Man Utd in Indonesia from 18th to 26th.

Villa are in the Peace Cup which could run until August 2nd.

It's Everton then most probs. EDIT: Pushing it tight with MLS.

United??

WHo else is in this?

Might be Man Utd...

This.

It'll be the same if we play any of the big top flight clubs. I'd far rather we played a decent foreign club.

Could still be them. The big clubs sometimes play two friendles the same day, or consequitive days and split the squad. If City were pressing this as part of the Hobbs deal the Liverpool might well have said, fook it, we'll send them the ressies.

Who knows though.

Oh god yeah, it's an atmosphere I'll never forget in a hurry. I watched them in February against Wolfsberg in the UEFA cup. Totally gobsmacking!

Fez and I saw them lose 1-0 to Toulouse in October last year at Parc des Princes and it were bloody brilliant even though they lost.

A pre-season friendly against Chelsea, Liverpool or Yanited would result in our biggest crowd of the season before it has even begun properly. lol

Much rather it be Everton. Fellaini and Cahill
