StanSP Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 Quite concerned that we only have 4 friendlies (all away) at Tamworth, Mansfield, Shrewsbury and Chesterfield. Any mroe news on the 'top six friendly' at home?
StanSP Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 The weekend of 1-2 August is still free. For us yeah. Everyone else has friendlies
Fox in a Box Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Leicester City will round off their pre-season build-up with a glamour home friendly against La Liga side Real Valladolid on Sunday August 2, 3.00 kick-off. The Spanish club, once managed by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, finished 15th in the table for the second season in a row in the last campaign, further consolidation after being promoted into the top flight in 2007. This will be the Foxes sixth run-out before the big Championship kick-off against Swansea City at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday August 8 and will be the strongest test of the pre-season programme to ensure Nigel Pearson's men a fitting conclusion to their build-up. City chairman Milan Mandaric wanted to show his appreciation to the fans for their efforts last season by bringing in prestigious opponents and said "It is a going to serve both purposes, firstly to give our manager and team a good test against a good skilful team from the top flight in Spain and also, importantly, to let our supporters see the quality of the team they will be getting behind in the very important season ahead. "They will be able to see all the new players and the way the squad will be gelling into what we hope will be a very competitive team." Wed 1st July - Return for training Sat 11th July - Loughboro Dynamo away 12:00 Sat 11th July - Tamworth away 3.00 Wed 15th July - Hinckley away 7.30 - now confirmed as a City XI reserves fixture Tue 21st July - Mansfield away 7.45. Sat 25th July - Shrewsbury away 3.00 Tue 28th July - Chesterfield away 7.45. Sunday - Real Valladolid August 2, 3.00 kick-off.

Fox You Forest Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Get to see Asenjo in the flesh rather than a little dot.. :w00t:
foxoffderby Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 would of liked a prem team really, to see were we stand. Like Pompey a couple of seasons ago.
Matt Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Hmmmm, wonder if this was speeded up by my e-mail's this morning or just coincidence, I e-mailed the Ticket Office and Peter Jones asking about our "glamour friendly" and the 125th anniversary fixture and he replied saying there was no fixture arranged yet but watch the official site as they will be announcing it on there, also the 125th anniversary fixture is separate to the "glamour friendly".

If you want to show your appreciation Mr Mandaric make it as cheap as chips to get in!
RowlattsFox Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 There must still be more to come? A tour or something because to me it seems the schedule is a bit short. Must be at least one first team fixture between the Tamworth and Mansfield game.
Daggers Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 City chairman Milan Mandaric wanted to show his appreciation to the fans for their efforts last season by bringing in prestigious opponents I believe Mandaric is TommyG in disguise. He's quiet for a while, you begin to forget about him then he sounds off and you remember what a total cunt he is.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 It is good to see that we are to play a friendly against Real Valladolid at the Walkers Stadium, prior to the start of the new season. We do need to test ourselves against quality opposition, and this should be a good fixture, with a pretty near full strengh sides, on both teams. Something to enjoy too.
MC Prussian Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 There's time for two to three more fixture, I'd say. The ten-day gap between the 11th and the 21st of July offers space for one or two (or even three, given there's a three-day break in between the following pre-season fixtures)? Or are those ten days to be reserved for a "special 125-year anniversary LCFC tournament" or something? Speculation, speculation.
dandannieldanok Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Ok it's hardly glamour but at least it should be competitive, it wouldn't be any good for morale if we got mullered by a top team's reserves.
Tommeh Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Really starting to feel a day in Shrewsbury, could be a nice town with a spoons. Will probably hit Tamworth the day before our holiday too. Loughboroughs too obvious.

On that note, Shrews' new ground (apparently carbon replica of Colly U) is 3 miles away from town centre but I've been tipped off that it's very much worth the effort before jumping on a bus or in a car to the ground to spend a few hours in Shrewsbury.
