purpleronnie Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Yes Barcelona may have had a lot of possession and done little but they knew they only needed one chance, plus 99% of the time they have all the possession and use it and thats why they are considered the best attacking side in europe. You cant base your view on a team from one match. Anyone remember the first leg? Barcelona 19 shots Chelsea 3, chelsea fouls 20 barcelona 7. You should really broaden your footballing horizons.
fantastic_mr_fox Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 does any one remember a certain FA cup game?? how can you have any sympathy for those cheatin coonts after that??? or were you in your nappies then? besides who wants another drab chealsea man ure final?? come on barca! shut up those plastic mancs now!
Maybes Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Watched the match with a dedicated Chelsea fan tonight, but he couldn't make it, so bored of plastic fans everywhere. You know, the united 'fans' jumping up and down when Barca scored.
City_4_Life Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Great role model for all the kids that were watching tonight.

Well done, Barcelona, didn't get to see that match only just got in, I'm guessing something kicked off though? I wasn't overly bothered who won this match, as long as Chelsea didn't win the whole thing so that meant them getting knocked out tonight or in the final, but I can enjoy and take the piss out of "chelsea glory hunting fanboys" now instead of later. In the final I want Man Utd to win. Well Done Man Utd, Well Done Barcelona. :crylaugh: :crylaugh: @ Chelsea.
Darkzzz_ Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I watch football because I love it Plenty of teams have come up against teams who defend first and attack second and come out on top. It's not impossible. But Barceloa had no plan B, didn't mix it up at all. Their crossing was terrible too! Don't think anyones getting heated though, just debating ain't it Hey your not wrong there. They are terrible are crossing. But you can see what I mean as I can you. But Chelsea didn't play attacking did they let's be honest. They defended for their lives throughout both legs. They had chances through Barca errors in both legs, Barca are poor at the back. That is well known. Barca have plan A and that is to play beautiful football.
Edmund Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 @ the uefa conspiracies that they didn't want an all English final. Souness is a believer.
Joe. Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Drogba calling somebody a "fucking disgrace"? The irony is unbelievable.
Edmund Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Drogba calling somebody a "fucking disgrace"?The irony is unbelievable. He just said it was fooking disgrace not a person. You can't blame them though. At least it shows passion. Top marks for Ballack when he was all over the ref. made me laugh.
Koke Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I would have knocked someone out if I was Drogba. I admire Drogba. Great player and obviously passionate about losing undeservedly. Heat in the moment thing though, and people who draw conclusions on this are people who already hated him in the first place.
Guest Bilo Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 As others have said, Chelsea showed no ambition and even brought on a defender when holding a 1-0 lead against 10 men in the dying minutes. If they had tried to kill the game off against a Barca side still pushing for an equaliser, they would probably have caught them on the break and done just that. Chelsea should be looking forward to Rome now, but their own negativity has cost them that opportunity. A Manure - Barca final should be great entertainment, and I fancy the Catalans myself. Best footballing side in Europe and will prove it by winning their fourth European Cup.
Darkzzz_ Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 @ the uefa conspiracies that they didn't want an all English final. Souness is a believer. Swings and roundabouts.... I remember when Italians were dominating and the English press were laughing at them for mentioning conspiracies and now the English media is doing exactly the same. Spit them grapes out fellas. Drogba calling somebody a "fucking disgrace"?The irony is unbelievable. Your telling me. That was so funny, what a twat.
Joe. Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I don't buy into all this Chelsea showing no ambition stuff to be honest. Their play was effective against Barcelona, and it almost got them through. What gets me is the manner they get through games, the constant cheating; diving (Drogba, Malouda and Anelka in particular), the conning of the referee and the constant harassment of the referee. It's disgraceful.

Exactly. That day made me fume for months!

Heat in the moment thing though, and people who draw conclusions on this are people who already hated him in the first place. Not doubt Drogba is a footballing talent but a part time play actor. He was probably more passionate about losing his win bonus...or the fact it was the champions league semi final
BoneDog Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Stan Collymore has turned into a quality football show host. Can someone tell me who Barca are missing for the final? I've forgot in all the excitement
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 So why do you watch football? I thought it was for entertainment? Can you name a team that has played and defeated a defensive unit like that? Put yourself in that position, you have ten men in front of you to break down. It is difficult.Could say the same thing about Chelsea, they couldn't break down a 10 man Barcelona? Huh? The amount of money they have spent and they can't play anywhere near the way they have played in the premiership. Nobody is going to agree are they, I am not the one getting heated about thisand I have been fair I think, Chelsea can feel hard done by, some people in here will look back and laugh at they reacted here. And I shall remind those Chelsea fans about this when we are playing them again...... Over the two legs I don't think either team can claim that they rightly 'deserved' to go through on their play. I think all can agree the referee was shocking tonight for both sides. (that red card was a poor decision, and I'm sure all could agree at least one of the four penalty shouts should have been given.) However, in my mind, the way that Chelsea re-acted was shocking, disagree all you like with the decisions, but they went completely over the top, and that in itself for me means that Chelsea did not deserve a spot in the final. (Remembering that they did something similar in the final, especially Mr Drogba.) Thats not to say Barca wouldn't have surrounded the ref at the final whistle had the result gone the other way, but those Chelsea players need to look at themselves and think that although the referee maybe didn't give them 'dicision's' what they could have done to effect the result. Looking at a couple of the decisions, both Drogba and Anelka didn't need to go down, they were in control and baring down on goal - just put it in the net! Instead they look to get their fellow players sent off, and as this is something that is not alien to these players, no wonder referees think twice about giving decisions for their over threatrical falls in and around the box. My other thoughts were; Ballack - throw yourself at the ball to block the shot, don't just kneel down. Anelka - Stay onside at it would have been 2-0! Essien - kick the ball out of play (to be fair he realised it, and he is clearly one of the more likeable players in a Chelsea shirt - great goal too.) Barca were lucky in the fact that even with the goal it looked liked they had over player once again, but well taken nevertheless. And true it was one of the only times they actually delivered the ball from out wide early - but why was no-one closer to Alves? Chelsea also have themselves to blame for not going through - not scoring away from home with a home leg to come always makes it difficult regardless of the oposition. Finally to round off this rant, one peice of credit for the referee tonight - how he didn't turn round and chin Ballack, because he was asking for it. But then he loses that credit by showing no balls by waving the yellow card at Drogba after the game. Show him the Red, UEFA would have backed you. (Although he may not have got out of their unscathed!)
RowlattsFox Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I don't buy into all this Chelsea showing no ambition stuff to be honest. Their play was effective against Barcelona, and it almost got them through. What gets me is the manner they get through games, the constant cheating; diving (Drogba, Malouda and Anelka in particular), the conning of the referee and the constant harassment of the referee. It's disgraceful. All true. But what gets me is that people seem to slag Chelsea off for it as if noone esle does it, when that is clearly untrue. Even tonight Barca players were diving at times, they surround the ref as wel, all the top clubs do it yet Chelsea are the only ones who get any criticism for it.
Darkzzz_ Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I will never forgive Erland Johnson and that is one of my reasons for disliking Chelsea. I admire some of their players and I admire Hiddink. I have never come across a Leicester fan that likes them.
Simi Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Chelsea players were a disgrace yet again, but UEFA should not escape the blame as well. The Chelsea players acted as scumbags as usual after the final whistle, but what do you expect from a bunch of spoilt wankers? All this respect bollocks that the governing bodies are trying to shove in our faces needs to be upheld here. John Terry, the England captain, practically spitting down the refereees throat, I understand the tension, but he should realise his role and drag his players away. Then there is Drogba. All his bad karma must have come round tonight. The amount of times that cheating willy puller has attempted to con a referee is unreal, glad they didn't get a decsion and UEFA should throw the book at him for his actions. Who the hell does he think he is?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 All true. But what gets me is that people seem to slag Chelsea off for it as if noone esle does it, when that is clearly untrue. Even tonight Barca players were diving at times, they surround the ref as wel, all the top clubs do it yet Chelsea are the only ones who get any criticism for it. I think all get talked about it, but when Chelsea were as in the ref's face as they were at the end, of course people are going to talk about them like. Alves got lots of talk about not getting booked last week - ironically, that has cost him a place in the final.
Bert Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Football is not all about amazing passing football. Different teams play in different ways, to the way that suits their game plan best. If there's a method to try and stop something, then it's going to be try and used. It's like saying Swine Flu shouldn't be cured that way, because it's not the prettiest. There's an art to defending, as well as attacking and it takes a great tactical genius to stop a great team like Barcelona only having one shot on target all night, not once did they break Chelsea down. Barcelona were getting frustrated and they had no answer to the way Chelsea played over both legs. Barcelona played the better football, but did they deserve to win? No way. Chelsea were denied two clear cut penalties, and had a half decent shout for another, maybe two. They tested the keeper more and if they'd have gone through, bar the sending-off, Barca could've had few complaints. I'm sure if the roles were reversed any Barca fan/player would feel the same way. Just look at the way the Barca players celebrated, they knew they were lucky to come out of the game with a result. The final will be more entertaining with Barca than it would've been Chelsea, but boy were they lucky. Edit: Ballack is a twat and was way over the top with his protests, but that was probably the least shout for a penalty all night. You'd be annoyed at not getting a penalty from tonight if you were Chelsea though.
