MarkDeVries Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 For some reason that I shall never understand, that actually hurt when Iniesta scored, probably because they are an English team but Chelsea wanted revenge against Man United in Rome and they got beat in the cruelist way imaginable when they were on the verge of booking their flight tickets But seriously, that referee should be shot for that shambles of a performance. 3 penalties could have been given Though, Drogba chasing the ref at the end saying "fooking disgrace" to the sky camera was just so funny.
Darkzzz_ Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I don't understand it. When did Leicester fans become passionate Chelsea fans? If that was us winning in that manner we would be very happy. And Graham Souness is correct, the best team went through over the two legs. Even Redknapp is nearly in tears. Unprofessional. I agree, Chelsea did have many shouts, but you have to be clueless to fail to see that the best footballing team went through and you can see by my previous posts I have not been biased during this game. Chelsea shot themselves in the foot, I mean come on, bringing a defender on against 10 men says it all. The final should be great, two teams I enjoy watching. Iniesta.....
Maybes Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 The game's played over two legs and over the two Barca deserved it.Barca hardly lacked ambition, unlike poor old Chelsea. This ^^^^^^ in response to the below. Barca hardly tested Cech. 1 shot on target and that came in the 93rd minute. Chelsea deserved to go through, I'm afraid. For all their possession and passing about they did fuck all with it.
Webbo Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I fucking hate rooting for Manure but I have to now. <_< You're so right.
potter3 Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Barca hardly tested Cech. 1 shot on target and that came in the 93rd minute. Chelsea deserved to go through, I'm afraid. For all their possession and passing about they did fuck all with it. Barca deserved it purely for the fact Chelsea had a man advantage and were still content to sit back and defend. Boring, boring, boring.
Corky Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 What a way to finish. No shots on target until the 93rd minute and bang, 1-1. And still there was drama, with the penalty claim. I felt the best shout was for Pique's handball. Drogba's actions at the end were reminiscent of Henry and Graham Poll a few years ago.
Finnegan Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Come off it mate. Chelsea sitting back like they were Trinidad and Tobago playing England! They were a joke to be honest. You might hail their defensive prowess but in my eyes it was awfully boring and reminded me of a cretin called Gary Megson.Man United vs Barca will be a better final than Man United vs Chelsea could ever be. Spot on, every word. Barca hardly tested Cech. 1 shot on target and that came in the 93rd minute. Chelsea deserved to go through, I'm afraid. For all their possession and passing about they did fuck all with it. I normally think you talk a lot of sense but I find myself disagreeing with you today, to be honest. We seem to have quite clear bias in either direction but I don't think Chelsea deserved it. I can't be bothered to repeat myself, my above post makes it clear what I think - you can't expect to sit on a one goal lead against Barca for the whole game like that. You can complain about passing sideways but I don't know how else you wanted them to play against a tightly packed defense that consistently had eight or nine players in their own bloody eighteen yard box near enough.
MarkDeVries Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Pretty much. All they were doing tonight was pass sideways all night with 70% possession and managed 1 shot on target in the 93rd minute. Anyone who says Chelsea didn't deserve to go through, is massively biased. I agree

Don't give a shit about best footballing team tbh, means nothing when you have ONE shot on target. They can piss about with it all they like but if they go nowhere with it you deserve **** all! Chelsea had more chances, and should have taken them. Don't agree with the no ambition either, Chelsea could have easily added to the lead, and even with 5 minutes to go at 1-0 Lampard was still looking to slide in Anelka instead of wasting time.
Thracian Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 :D Can't say I'm ever unhappy to see Chelsea whooped. And frankly they asked for all they got in many ways. Drogba's failure to take the sort of chance an Academy player would have gobbled up and Essien's panicky and juvenile defending at the end didn't deserve any rewards. But for all that - and while you can argue long and hard about the first two penalty controversies - the blatant handball from Anelka's touch was a cast iron penalty and it is utterly disgraceful that the offence wasn't penalised. In the end though Chelsea paid, like so many teams, for being content to sit back on their lead and for showing no real ambition thereafter. The result served them right.

I think we could argue this all night and still disagree on it At the end of the day Barca is a great footballing side. They were better in the 1st leg but tonight I felt Chelsea were better, they were ambitious and created better chances.
Tilley Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 What did he say? You not seem him in the studio? Was getting well worked up.

So why do you watch football? I thought it was for entertainment? Can you name a team that has played and defeated a defensive unit like that? Put yourself in that position, you have ten men in front of you to break down. It is difficult. Could say the same thing about Chelsea, they couldn't break down a 10 man Barcelona? Huh? The amount of money they have spent and they can't play anywhere near the way they have played in the premiership. Nobody is going to agree are they, I am not the one getting heated about thisand I have been fair I think, Chelsea can feel hard done by, some people in here will look back and laugh at they reacted here. And I shall remind those Chelsea fans about this when we are playing them again......
Stevosevic Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Watched the match with a dedicated Chelsea fan tonight, but he couldn't make it, so bored of plastic fans everywhere. You know, the united 'fans' jumping up and down when Barca scored.

I watch football because I love it Plenty of teams have come up against teams who defend first and attack second and come out on top. It's not impossible. But Barceloa had no plan B, didn't mix it up at all. Their crossing was terrible too! Don't think anyones getting heated though, just debating ain't it
