clazkel Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Holloway show us your shoes, Holloway, Holloway show us your shoes The sheffield utd game at Bramall Lane was hilarious (even tho we were hammered), without Hollway that wouldn't have happened. Ashame about the football though!
Tevez Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Blackpool for the play offs. They will be a shock this year.
leicesterseddon Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Hayles to Blackpool. 'Best player I've ever managed!' (in a thick West Country accent) Says it all about Holloway's level to be honest. He could do a job at Blackpool, but I won't be wishing him luck.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Bottom six for Blackpool next season, but should just about be safe from the bottom three.
TrickyTrev Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I can't believe that people defend Holloway as a manager. Career of mediocrity mixed with outright failure. He was utterly terrible here. Bought bad players, made himself look like an idiot in the press and in doing so lost the respect of the players and evidently has absolutely no tactical knowledge whatsoever. All these factors meant he took over when we were a safe mid table side, spent a lot of money, and contrived to get us relegated. He's a self-publicising idiot and one of the worst managers in our history. I really don't think there is another side to the story.
maddog Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Glad he's back in football. Bound to be some comedy with his media interviews, wonder what he will say in the build up to playing us It's going to be a good laugh. I can see Blackpool finishing mid-table with him.
Red Leicester Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Couldn't hack the pressure, couldn't motivate players of ability, couldn't change tactics when tactics needed changing and has a history of taking clubs down. Expect him to be sacked shortly after he releases an updated version of his quite-dull book. You have to assume he was cheap - I see no other reason to commend him to the post.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 PS: DJ Campbell has been a wonder for us, just hope Holloway, if he gets the job, signs him up. Agree that Ollie can do a job for you. On the other hand, I hope Coventry get Deej, you seriously don't want him do you!!?
Red Leicester Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 And aside from his "not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi" quote - when has Holloway EVER been funny?
dandannieldanok Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Holloway show us your shoes, Holloway, Holloway show us your shoesThe sheffield utd game at Bramall Lane was hilarious (even tho we were hammered), without Hollway that wouldn't have happened. Ashame about the football though! That was legendary, and I doubt any other manager losing 3-0 with refereeing decisions going against us would have done it. Very funny moment in a terrible season. His comment about Billy Sharp being a turkey after the game was funny. Hope he does well. I hope he does well, he may have been piss poor for us but I have nothing against the bloke.

It was legendary, i know alot of people will say he shouldnt be doing things like that but the fans asked him to and he did, and it brightened up what would've been a more depressing day. I wonder if he would do it when we play Blackpool if hes asked!
Houdini Logic Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 And aside from his "not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi" quote - when has Holloway EVER been funny? Give him his due: “Right now, everything is going wrong for me - if I fell in a barrel of boobs, I'd come out sucking my thumb!” “To put it in gentleman's terms, if you've been out for a night and you're looking for a young lady and you pull one, you've done what you set out to do. We didn't look our best today but we've pulled. Some weeks the lady is good looking and some weeks they're not. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She may not have been the best looking lady we ended up taking home but it was still very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much and let's have coffee.” “He's always had a short fuse and I was going to try and cure him. He's slightly damaged goods” “To the people who booed - boo to you!” “I feel a bit like the nanny who is trying to calm down the kids,” “I reckon the ball was travelling at 400mph, and I bet it burned the keeper's eyebrows off.”
Matt Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Good luck to him. Although he took us down to League One, thus on paper being the worst manager in our history, in reality he certainly isn't the worst manager in our history, I'm not saying he did a good job for us, I'm not saying he is a good manger but he certainly (in reality) isn't the worst manager in our history.
Red Leicester Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Give him his due: Not so much as a smirk. I don't find him funny - more than that, I've found his attempts to be "the funny manager" on radio and Sky, ever since we dumped him, to be painful. Holloway has become a a caricature of himself.
Wycombe Fox Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 It makes me chuckle when the say things such as 'Blackpool unveil Holloway as boss'. I imagine a press conference with the figure of a man hidden under a white sheet that gets whipped away after a drum roll or some distant royal pulling a cord to reveal Holloway hiding behind two curtains.

I really don't think there is another side to the story. To be fair he did have a decent record at QPR and Plymouth. But his time in charge of us was like watching a car-crash in slow motion. I hope we take six points off Blackpool next season and push them closer to the relegation they deserve.

What the fuck does that mean? That statement didn't make any sense to me (in reality like).
Lovejoy Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 I no longer concern myself with Ian Holloway. Old news.
ozleicester Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Took my club into the depths of the 3rd ****ing division If i never heard of him again it would be to soon.
Sir Fynwy Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 No offence taken. We are a very small club (didn't used to be of course historically)We seem to be survivng in the CCC by clever use of the loan system. Trouble is you bring in a player from a club who has rarely had 1st team experience, they start performing and then some wealthier club snap them off you. What would Holloway make of this maybe excessive use of the loan system do you think? The problem with Holloway is that no decent team will loan him players because he is a clown, since we got rid of him for a proffesional manager we have had quality loans, I think you may struggle because of the lack of good loan players.
