SamL Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 If you're already having football withdrawal symptoms the draw for the first round of the Carling Cup will be announced right here at www.football-league.co.uk at 9.30am on Tuesday 16th June.70 Football League clubs will appear in the first round with Newcastle United and Middlesbrough receiving byes as the highest placed clubs in last season's league tables. The next 35 clubs in last season's tables (down to Walsall - 13th place in League 1) will be seeded and drawn against the remaining 35 clubs. As usual the first round draw will be split into North and South with 17 northern pairings and 18 southern ones. To find out which section your team's in click here. As usual, we're seeded in the North section and could face any one of the following teams: - 18. Accrington Stanley 19. Bradford City 20. Bury 21. Carlisle United 22. Chesterfield 23. Crewe Alexandra 24. Darlington 25. Grimsby Town 26. Hartlepool United 27. Lincoln City 28. Macclesfield Town 29. Morecambe 30. Notts County 31. Port Vale 32. Rochdale 33. Rotherham United 34. Not a bad ground for a league 2 club either.
