Sparky Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 I cant beleive people have wrote him off.I hope he shuts everyone up wherever he goes, great player and professional. THIS
dandannieldanok Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 You have to be kidding! Michael Owen is still a great player! He has been plagued by injuries since he was injured against Sweden. He scored 10 goals last season in a poor team and he was not match fit was he.Don't believe the red top press who are quick to build up but even quicker to knock down. Owen is the most dangerous forward England have, and once he proves himself again he could be an extremely valuable asset to us in South Africa. Capello knows that from his time at Real when Owen has an awesome scoring record from the bench. Fooking hell if we're relying on him to help us succeed in South Africa then we're fooked. Let's remember we've done pretty well without him in qualifying.

Let's remember we've done pretty well without him in qualifying. Against who? Croatia are decent but no world beaters them selves. Capello has and is doing very well, and is correct not to pick Owen. I never said we were reliant on Owen, but to completely dismiss a top quality player such as Owen is stupid. A fullt fit Owen would grace any side as he scores goals.
Corky Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 What a waster. No serious top 8 club would touch him - and if Hull wants to break their wage cap on this sick note, then by all means do it, good luck. Just be prepared that he will spend 75% of the time on your treatment table, and not the actual pitch. 25-29 was the age Owen was supposed to be at his peak, but instead he has been too injury prone, lost his pace and has turned utterly shite. He's 30 later this year, so I don't know why people will think he will suddenly be the old Michael Owen again. He was good back in them days, but he's fucking wank now. He might not be the player of old, but he's still got quality in front of goal and would be an asset to a team when fit.
Shane Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Owen used to heavily rely on his pace, that was his biggest asset, and now he has lost that. He'd beat you in a sprint any day. Idiot.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 He'd beat you in a sprint any day. Idiot. What's that got to do with anything, I doubt Kareem is getting paid £120,000 a week. The point is valid, one of Owen's major assets was pace and he's lost his edge. Undoubtedly he's still quick, but not fast enough anymore to run away from defenders like he used to do.
Koke Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 He'd beat you in a sprint any day. Idiot. Yeah, and Josh Low is a shit pro footballer, but he's still better than me - What a fucked up logic you have Owen's number one asset was his pace, and he is nowhere near as quick as he used to be.
Head Honcho Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Washed up-No longer effective or successful Washed up-Michael Owen
Sparky Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Ill put my money where my mouth is Ill take a £20 bet that Owen scores 15 premiership goals next season ? The bet will be void if Owen does not sign for a prem side. 1st one in gets the bet. Several folk on here will back me up when i say im good for it
Koke Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 I'll take you up on that bet - I'm well up for it. 15 Premiership goals for Michael Owen in the 09/10 season that is, yeah. I doubt he'll get that many.

Matt Posted 22 June 2009 Author Posted 22 June 2009 Go on Owen, Hope he gets in South Africa squad! So he can get injured and waste a place like in the last World Cup? (I realise any player can get injured and waste a space, but you just know it would happen to Owen)
Koke Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Ok Kareem ,it makes next season bit more interesting , your on ! Indeed. You got a deal. I'm in.

dandannieldanok Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 I'd be surprised if he started 15 games never mind scored 15 goals.
Ultra Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Go on Owen, Hope he gets in South Africa squad! Agreed. If he proves his fitness next season, I'd rather see him in the side than Beckham.
AyewJoking Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Agreed. If he proves his fitness next season, I'd rather see him in the side than Beckham. If Owen wants any chance of all at making the 2010 squad then he wont consider Hull.
Jon the Hat Posted 24 June 2009 Posted 24 June 2009 He's played less than 80 games in 4 years - that stat alone would scare the hell out of me if I was a Hull fan. You can't blame everything on Newcastle. Owen has to take most of responsibility - it's not like Newcastle have a shit medical staff, compared to other clubs. Owen used to heavily rely on his pace, that was his biggest asset, and now he has lost that. Newcastle have an appalling record of injuries over that period. They have a history of rushing players back etc. Sam Allardyce came out and said something was wrong last season. Clearly you would not offer him a 4 year deal with no claw back if he gets injured, but plenty of players have had these injuries and come back - Beckham for a start.
Fox You Forest Posted 24 June 2009 Posted 24 June 2009 Stoke...? How does he fit into their style of play. Surely someone half decent is willing to take a punt on him.
MarkDeVries Posted 24 June 2009 Posted 24 June 2009 How does he fit into their style of play. Surely someone half decent is willing to take a punt on him. Everton or Villa will get him I reckon. Even City
The Doctor Posted 26 June 2009 Posted 26 June 2009 Everton or Villa will get him I reckon.Even City i think we should stick with howard, fryatt, dickov, hayles, chambers and N'guessan rather than sign an over the hill welshman. (he was born in chester so don't give me the "he's English" bollocks)
Samilktray Posted 29 June 2009 Posted 29 June 2009 Owen to Olympiakos anyone? Would be quality. I like Olympiakos.
