Unabomber Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Got a few mates coming to stay on Friday night and we're going to be heading out. Problem is, I've never been out in Leicester on a Friday night and I know that there isn't anywhere that good on a Friday night in Loughborough which is the other option... So my question is simple: where would people recommend we end up? (Loughborough or Leicester) We like: cheap drinks, 80s music, cheesy music, indie music, women 18-35, somewhere a bit grimy We dislike: chart/pop music, expensive drinks, girls, heavy metal/rock, shiny 'superclubs' I've taken them to Fan Club in Leicester a couple of times before and that went down fairly well but there was a noticeably older crowd (we're all 24/25) so wouldn't mind somewhere new. Over to you people of Foxestalk! Fan club for me
Webbo Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Fan club for me With your preferences for the older lady you'd be better off at the British Legion.

Maybes Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Basement might not be a bad shout for you mate. However like others have said Fan Club is likely to be your best bet.

Over to you people of Foxestalk! Try Mosh. A lot of the girls in there are nice, especially considering some of the gormless lads you get trudging about. Although there are a lot of youngens too.

Maybes Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Fridays tend to be a grebbier crowd there than Saturdays from what I remember? Isn't Friday heavy metal?
RonnieTodger Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Fridays tend to be a grebbier crowd there than Saturdays from what I remember? to be honest I've only been there twice. A Tuesday and Saturday. If that's the case, ignore me!
Dan Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Yeh it is. Been on a Friday and despite needing a haircut I had some of the shortest hair in the place.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Yeh it is. Been on a Friday and despite needing a haircut I had some of the shortest hair in the place. I had read that Friday at MOSH was heavy metal/rock so was going to swerve that! Had it been a Saturday it would have probably been the leading contender. Thanks for all of the suggestions guys, looking like it's back to Fan Club at the moment...
lavrentis Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Probably the best area in Leicester now is by the highcross, near Coast2Coast, Turtle Bay etc A few Fridays back when it was warm at night, it actually felt like I wasn't in Leicester visiting a few of the bars/restaurants in that area at night.
Ozwin Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Mosh is brilliant. I won't have a bad word said against it. No posers, no TOWIE wannabees, just people out for a good time. You'd have to pay me to go to the likes of Republic these days.
Houdini Logic Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Mosh on a Friday used to be (maybe still is?): indie upstairs 'alternative' in the middle floor - ska, punk, nu metal, stuff you'd generally find on a Kerrang! 2001 free CD Metal downstairs
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 I gave Liquid, Lloyds and Walkabout recommendations on the first page of this thread. What an amateur, clearly 19 year old me enjoyed a good old gorp at some classy birds.
lc4lcfc Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 The only place I'll go is mosh. Been started on for no reason (while I was relatively sober aswell) in liquid, republic and life. I don't particularly like the bars either most are quite Chavy although I will admit I haven't tried them all. Will never step foot in basement again... Far too many druggys

Don't you mean Sophbec? Basement is that bad, although it probably depends which night you go in on.
RonnieTodger Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 All about the Market Tavern and the Lamp lighters. I've only been there once and that was St George's Day this year. It was like Shameless enclosed under one roof
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 I've only been there once and that was St George's Day this year. It was like Shameless enclosed under one roof Last time I was in the punters were queuing up for the 49p breakfast.
