Budweiser Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 I would love to see Lita, him or Andy Keogh. I think everyone needs to see that the club aren't willing to pay over the odds for players (Simon Cox) and seem keen on waiting it out for the right player at the right price.
Legend_in_blue Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 It's a worrying situation to be in. If it's not sorted by August 8 we will finish no better than mid-table imo. I'm no expert on the youth team setup but how far is Chambers from making a start/impression? At the moment, I can't see where the quality we need is going to materialise from.
Ozwin Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Pearson's gonna sort it! He's not gonna leave it unoticed. Have some faith.

Lita for free (albeit high wages) or Keogh at £1.5m? I know who I'd like to see here if you're talking about paying over the odds.

ronnup Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 You're telling me you wouldn't be happy with mid-table? Bloody hell, what do some of our fans expect, really. i think that kind of attitude may well get rapidly adjusted, poeple are deluded by winning league 1, with a load of players we no longer have. I'll do a smuts all over my trousers if we finish mid table.

I'll do a smuts all over my trousers if we finish mid table. TBH Mid-table is my aim, nothing more, nothing less, if we finish lower than mid-table, thus relegation battle i'll be very disappointed, I saw being in league one for a season as a positive of we had to take a step back to take a few steps forward. However I don't want to go up, and i'd be abit weary of even getting in the play-offs, I'll take it obviously, but to go up it would be a couple of seasons too early and could damage all the hard work that was started last season, and if we got play-offs that could also damage us.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 I want to be mid-table and in single figures would be a great achievement. I do think we need a player like Lita though. This is what Wikipedia says: .....born English professional footballer. He currently plays for Ipswich Town F.C.. Lita signed a two year contract with Barcelona on the 22nd July 2009. Ha
flanimal Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Chambers is way off getting a place as a striker, forget him for time being. Apparently, according the French newspapers, Kermorgant will definitely sign at some point. There's one striker. It wouldn't surprise me if Nigel Pearson has another foreign striker lined up that he's keeping quiet about. We need someone though. Fryatt is injured and might not play the first couple of games, N'Guessan doesn't seem comfortable as a striker, and Dickov - well, you know the rest.

Anybody who starts apparently is usually speculating. Sure he was linked about 3 weeks ago but there has been nothing since and while I will be glad for you to prove me otherwise I doubt you will be able to. You also say N'Guessan doesn't look comfortable as a striker. What bollocks is that based on?

DanTheFox07 Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Looking unlikely he will sign for sheff utd now, they have just agreed a 3 million fee for ched evans

AjcW Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Yawnnn.... This is as tedious as every other striker chase so far this season... well get to page ten and he will of signed for someone else etc etc. Dont get me wrong though if he signs ill do a fooking dance(the smuts in my trousers line is taken )....

You also say N'Guessan doesn't look comfortable as a striker. What bollocks is that based on? A guy I know on Facebook told me the French newspapers say Kermorgant will sign for Leicester before August 8th, I have no reason to think he's bullshitting, and didn't feel it necessarry to ask him to scan in the article - plus it would be in French, so I wouldn't even understand it! I mentioned it more to see if other people had heard anything about it, and I'm quite happy to be proven wrong. Another thing I'm happy to proven wrong about is N'Guessan being a striker - based on his show at Mansfield he looked out-of-sorts, based on his general finishing at Lincoln, his goals to games ratio isn't the best, but he was playing as a winger for the majority so I'm not too bothered about that. He'd be an awesome striker, if he just got better at finishing - but he isn't a striker yet, in my opinion.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 I presume you didn't go to Mansfield then. So you would base your opinion on one pre-season game then. Always the voice of reason!!
Hackneyisblue Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 So you would base your opinion on one pre-season game then. Always the voice of reason!! Come on ZB be realistic. He's a winger, that is what he has done for my most of his playing career and his goals return per game is lower than our midfielders last season. If we go into the new season with only DN as our 'new' striker than I and a lot of others (well everyone but yourself) will be a bit worried.

If we go into the new season with only DN as our 'new' striker than I and a lot of others (well everyone but yourself) will be a bit worried. I am only asking where these expert opinions are formed. If it is based on one pre-season game then it seems like a moronic thing to say. I would rather see him play competetively before I make a judgement. Perhaps because he has played on the wing for Lincoln his goals ratio has suffered. Perhaps the fact he was playing for a poor 4th division team has caused his poor ratio. Do you know either not to be the case? NP thought enough of him in that area to start him there in his first game. As I said before who are we going to get in as a better alternative? I would love Lita to come but doubt he will go below Premiership.
flanimal Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 ZB, I'm not basing it on one friendly, I'm basing it on everything. N'Guessan is not a clinical finisher, if you have checked out all the goals he scored for Lincoln last year, most of them where bundled shots or deflected efforts - Lloyd Dyer scored more clinical goals than him last year. I already took into account that he was playing on the wing for Lincoln, so I'm judging him purely on his ability to score in front of goal, and he isn't that great at it yet. I'm not saying he couldn't become a good striker, because he has the strength, pace etc - but if he can't shoot well, he's not a good striker. He needs to be worked on. As a winger, though, he's fine.
