Ozwin Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 What formations are people using? Are you mixing it up depending on the opponent or are you sticking with one and seeing how it goes? I've tried both and just can't seem to get a game going on it.

The Doctor Posted 25 January 2010 Posted 25 January 2010 yes!!!! Ridiculous transfers pay off again, signed Gradel for Man U - he scored the winner the champions league quaters v Bayern Munich. Semi Final Draw Arsenal V Chelsea Man U V Liverpool also beat Chelsea 4-0 in fa cup semis - got liverpool in the final of that.
Ozwin Posted 25 January 2010 Posted 25 January 2010 I went to my old school 5-3-2 formation that worked for me in 2006. Seems to be working well. Trying to get Monaco to recover some of their former glory.
Samilktray Posted 25 January 2010 Posted 25 January 2010 On course for the play offs with Leyton Orient, only in February but got the momentum now. Pretty pleased considering we were 1 of the favourites for relegation.

I've tried both and just can't seem to get a game going on it. I play 4-4-2, quite fluid but still certainly no over-emphasis on attack. In midfield, two wingers, a ball-winning midfielder and a deep-lying playmaker in the middle. Up front a target man and a poacher. It isn't perfect but it does tend to bring decent results if you have the right type of player.
Samilktray Posted 25 January 2010 Posted 25 January 2010 Missed out on the play offs on goal difference
Wycombe Fox Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 I ordered this game at the weekend but it hasn't arrived yet. I've never played any sort of Football Manager game so I'm quite looking forward to it.

Top of the league and unbeaten after 5 games, only dropped 2 points so far. Still doing really well in this game. Mandarics pissed me off again though selling Hobbs to Wolves for 4.1m and Dindane to lackburn for 3.5m. I also flogged Murphy who was pissed at playing 2nd fiddle to Ashdown. Brought in 37year old Thomas Myhre to cover. Wellens went to Hibs for 300k too. Last day of the window was mental thanks to Mandaric flogging Dindane and Hobbs. It left me with only 2 CB's (Broadfoot and a 17 year old starlet regen) so i had to scramble to get Mike Williamson on loan also brought in Damien Le Tallec and Yaya Sanogo to cover for Gallacher and Harewood up top as well. Lying in 5th with 12 games to go (and 1 in hand) only 8 points behind automatic promotion.
General Smuts Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Lying in 5th with 12 games to go (and 1 in hand) only 8 points behind automatic promotion. Finished 4th and won promotion in the play offs with a massive 2-0 win over Burnley. Gotta build a Premiership team now, hoping for a big ass budget. So far i've signed Alessio Cerci, Johan Vonlanten and Abel Aguilar plus i signed Roy Makaay before i got promoted.

Wycombe Fox Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 My game was delivered today. Quick question - is it best to install via Steam or not? Thanks.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 My game was delivered today. Quick question - is it best to install via Steam or not? Thanks. Steam. It automatically downloads patches and updates, and you don't need to put the CD in each time.
Wycombe Fox Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Steam. It automatically downloads patches and updates, and you don't need to put the CD in each time. Cheers. What is Steam? No smart answers about boiling water etc!
dandannieldanok Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Cheers. What is Steam? No smart answers about boiling water etc! Just something that you can play your games through, tbh I'm probably not the best person to ask. Just download it from the steam website, then once you've done that install the game via Steam. There is nothing to stop you installing the game both via steam and just with the disk if you want the choice.
