maddog Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Come on you Foxes Our record against Ipswich isn't that great away, in our last 3 meetings at Portman Road we've won 1 lost 2. But we have taken 7 points off them at the Walkers Stadium in our last 3 meetings. They've just lost 2-1 at Coventry, so they are certainly beatable The last time we won our opening away match in the Championship was at Derby 5 years ago, so maybe we are due another. The performance in the 2nd half at the Walkers certainly gives us hope though, to miss a penalty at 1-0 down and go on to win the game against a top 8 side last season was fantastic. And the impressive Waghorn, Wellons and N'Guessan certainly gives us hope of going there, creating a chance, and scoring a goal even without Fryatt fully fit. And with 7 subs now we could have some great options on the bench, if N'Guessan and Waghorn start we could bring Dyer and Fryatt on for impact or vice-versa, Nicky Adams was certainly impressive when he came on. Lets just hope we don't pick up any injuries though from the cup match at Macclesfield, although i can see NP giving players like Adams, Gradel, Tunchev, Neilson if he can play in the cup match, and even Dickov some pitch time if they are fit enough. It would be absolutely amazing if we could have 6 points from 2 games in the Championship, but i think everyone will take a draw from this one. If we play like we did in the 2nd half against Swansea it's hard not to see us winning it. I really fancy another strong performance and another 2-1 win

Braunyfox Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 Keane will not find it as easy as he did with Sunderland in the Championship and I think Ipswich will struggle early doors ,therefore a 3 - 1 win.
Guest Bilo Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 I saw Switch as real promotion contenders pre-season and still do, but they were awful against Coventry and didn't have a great home record last term. Based on the confidence and form of both sides going into this one, I fancy us to get something out of it. 1-1 draw I reckon with Fryatt notching for us.
Fox92 Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 So, watched them at Coventry on Sunday via the TV, and they looked shocking. Weak defence, Delaney and McAuley *caugh* ecspecially and I don't think Alex Bruce is a full back. The wingers are fast, ecspecially the Canadian Peters, and of course the number 19 who scored - cannot remember his name at this current moment but I know it will come to me. Of course David Norris is out for the season after sustaining a crushing blow by Stead - his own team mate - but Owen Garvan will most probably start who is a very talented young Irish lad - in fact, the last time we were there didn't he get sent off against us? Think the strikers are great though to be honest. Stead ecspecially. I know our record is no good there, and the last time we won was two years ago I think via McAuley twice, but there is no doubt we can get something there. Please, please, please stick N'Guessan on the right to attack Damien Delaney who only looks good going forward. Not sure about Waghorn, perhaps bring him on in the second half so he can show his pace against a second half (hopefully tired) Gareth McAuley. Overall prediction most probably a draw. 2-2 if anything. I'd take a draw there to be honest but after looking at their previous two results (Coventry + Shrewsbury) I think we could win. Nice if we could, draw though for me; 2-2.

Thracian Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 However good or bad Keane proves in his Ipswich job he's had no time to develop his team, his playing style or his range of alternatives in the way that Pearson has. Leicester seem to have taken just the right approach following last season's success. They have only brought in players who look obviously capable of improving what we have while at the same time fitting in with the particular demands Pearson makes of all his players - that of discipline, hard work, an all-for-one, one-for-all attitude and a willingness to adapt as required without complaint. Pearson has built his team on the rocks of solid principles. The team seems focused on working and winning whether the next match is against Macclesfield or anyone else. Keane might well develop the same mentality at Ipswich but he'll still be assessing his players and learning where the strengths and weaknesses lie so, if anything, Ipswich might be less effective now than they might in future. There's no doubt their team has weaknesses and no question that City have players capable of exploiting those weaknesses. I've every faith in City's ability to win and to maintain their aim of setting as fast a pace as possible in the title race.

City are looking good already and I think we will surprise a few people this season......and shut a lot of doubters up! I watched Ipswich @ Coventry on Sunday and they did look like a good side, gonna have to watch out for Walters in midfield and the strike duo of Priskin and Stead!
