Ipswich away.

Why are we expected to loose to Ipswich??? I don't really understand all the hype surrounding them at the minute. I mean they hardly set the league on fire last season and have not had a great start this time around. I read that we are 'expected' to loose to them away and for the life of me I don't know why.

I think we have a similar strength squad with our possibly having the greater depth. I expect a close thought game and would not be suprised if we came away with something. Keano has hardly the best managerial record.

Please feel free to add your thoughts and opinions.

LOSE, it's bloody LOSE

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry.

Cov beat them, but we all know it was rather lucky as Ipswich controlled most of the game. But I really think we will get a point out of the game.

I juat think that win against Swansea will have given us a lot of confidence and we should be able to carry it on.

I think the hype about us expecting to loose and Ipswich expecting to go up is because of Roy Keane.

Watched them yesterday against Coventry and they looked shocking. On that performance, I think we can go there and get something, then again, Ipswich playing at home is a total different performance from their away performance and we don't usually get things our way at Portmand Road - although two years ago we won 2-0 via McAuley twice I think.

Thats on the boxing day, I think

I think the hype surronding Ipswich is justified- well not fully, Keane have this factor where the players stood up and respect him- always work at the beginning ( look at Sunderland's first season when he took over) yet once the squad is flooded by his signings and the team see his true colours then the dissent should arise but for nervelthless Ipswicyh can be a decent team and their home record is excellent ( took them well in springtime to win away last season but their home form keep them just off the top ten) and they should be boosted by Keane

I can see us giving them a game though and make them work hard for whatever outcome is

Ipswich injury update:

Ipswich suffer Norris injury blow

Ipswich Town may be without David Norris for the rest of the year following an injury sustained during Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Coventry.

The midfielder, 28, limped off early in the second half and scans have revealed potential knee ligament damage which could require surgery.

Norris, who joined Ipswich from Plymouth in January 2008, is due to see a specialist later this week.

The injury may force manager Roy Keane to begin the search for a replacement.

The odds of us getting at least a point at Portman Road are increasing...

The only loss I expect is the loss of around £30 to get in to this match.

G'won Citeh!!!!

(I'm actually predicting a 1-1 scoreline)

It would serve them right if we win this one.

I thought Ipswich were well worthy of a point, if not the win yesterday - and only denied through Cov being extremely lucky and pulling off some incredible saves & defending. The fluent attacking play in the second half would have swamped almost every team in this division and they have some quality players there.

To go to Ipswich now is to take on one of the top half teams in the division, regardless of the manager.

Swansea are a team in transition, without their manager and two best players from last season - Ipswich are a team legitimately aiming for promotion providing Keane can provide the boost in motivation & belief some of his squad require.

Our visit will be a measure of where we are and how much we need to improve, a point would be good.

well put i agree i will take a point there in a scrappy hard fought i think also that it will show us how good we are now

I'm at uni in Stafford so i'm thinking of going to the Shrewsbury/Ipswich game tonight as its fairly local to me, I'll do some scouting lol. They had best a decent strength team out. On a side note anyone listen to the Leeds game? They certainly were not at the races

Didnt we win 2-0 last time we played there??
Yes, which is why I said we pretty much always lose there

We lost 3-1 to them the last time. Kisnorbo got sent off and gave a penalty away for not fouling some one outside of the box just after we had levelled. It also happened against Sheff Utd too!!

And Walker saved a penalty, plus I think they missed about three sitters. We were lucky to get away with six.

That penelty save, Stewart took it didn't he, was legendary and Walker managed to keep it in somehow. Although Johnathon Stevensons goal was a screamer lol

Ipswich were the last team to play at Ninian Park and adding to the occasion it was Roy Keanes first game as manager. We lost 3-0 and I dont want to talk about it much.

However no one has yet mentioned on here that they have a rather rich owner now. Some billionaire we were told. So I expected some juicy imports to Portman Road this summer. Uh, that has not happened.

It will be very interesting to see how things develop there. Apparently you can get some good odds on Keano being the first manager being sacked. I reckon the pressure will be on everyone at Portman for your visit. I also reckon those odds will come down quite drastically after your visit.

Keano will have given them a rocket this week I guess. Would take a point right now.

If anyone in the City camp starts to think like that we can forget about the Premiership.

Let's stay positive.

We've been billed as title no-hopers yet currently stand joint top.

Ipswich, with a manager who copped out of his last job, are already three points light of what they wanted and way off the pace some pundits expected.

Yes Keane will wind em up and demand a response but we've got the players to hit any side on the rebound - and a good few who won't mind mixing it with Keane's mob or anyone else if necessary.

Instead of conceding two points before we start I'd rather we set out to inflict another defeat on a team who are supposed to be a major challenger and take another small step on the way to topping the league outright and building up the same sort of early momentum as last season.

All due respect but it's Ipswich we're going to. Not Real Madrid. And, enough teams beat Sunderland when Keane was there.

We're only ONE game into the season! lol

Yes, I can count. But the points won or lost in any game - first, second or last - can still represent the difference between promotion or relegation.

Right now Ipswich have three points to make up on us already and I'd be much more inclined to try to make it six than to settle for a draw because we've somehow persuaded ourselves that Roy Keane can't realistically be taken on

I remember the apology of an approach Rob Kelly made in our first outing at Luton a few season's back (we never recovered) and the negativity of his tactics in the FA Cup game against Stoke, presumably because he also considered them to be a good side.

It's exactly the sort of attitude that kept us on a downward spiral for so long and which, hopefully, Nigel Pearson has consigned to history.

My, and those who have stated similar, pragmatic prognostications are perfectly accetable because...and here's the important bit...we aren't running the team.

If we win tomorrow I think we will get at least a point from Saturday. The momentum should hopefully follow through. :fc:

But apart from McCauley scord in a 2-0 win we never do well there do we? I remember 2nd game of the season losing 6-1.....
