Ozwin Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...-just-game.html Couldn't hack it, reckon he'd do a good job for us?
lildave3 Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Tit. Who on earth is going to be stupid enough to sign him now.
StanSP Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Wtf?! So much for a 5 year contract. I read Bert's FB status and thought he just had a poor first game or something. But nope. Can't believe he quit
Edmund Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Not that it would happen but it would be an amazing turn of events if he signed for Spurs.
Unit Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 County will sign DJ Campbell in jan for £1 mil
Nationwider Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 Apparently Tamworth are going to double his money.
MC Prussian Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 What does this mean for his contract? Five years already done and dusted, now all burst? Will Notts County have to pay him off for the remainder of the four years and 11 1/2 months to come?? Sol Campbell's probably laughing his ass off for getting that ridiculous amount of money. What a joke. On both sides.

He could at least wait till January though, jesus.
Jimmy Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 the daily mail is hardly the bastien of truth and honesty, Notts County haven't said owt so could be all BS
Uncle Albert Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 On the BBC site now. Notts County will not stand in Sol Campbell's way if he is determined to leave, BBC Sport understands. The ex-England centre-back is believed to have told the club he wants to leave Meadow Lane after making his debut at Morecambe on Saturday. It was their third consecutive away defeat and the former Tottenham and Arsenal defender said his new side were guilty of hesitating in possession. The 35-year-old only joined the Magpies last month on a five-year deal.
chrisfox Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 I'm not sure what Campbell was expecting from County. the former Tottenham and Arsenal defender said his new side were guilty of hesitating in possession I know Sol is used to Premiership standards but even he couldn't be that naive to think the quality of football wouldn't be much much lower in league 2. Plus it's hardly a reason to leave is it? I'm guessing he's there in a semi coaching role so isn't it his job to coach them to be less hesitant? I think he needs to strap on a pair, knuckle down and try to help the club rather than doing a runner after 1 game!

He's not making stupid amounts from quitting this early.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 It is most unlikely that Campbell's decision to quit has anything to do with his (former) team's performance on Saturday. He's running away from the ticking timebomb at Meadow Lane. Looks like the world's oldest football club is finally going to snuff it.
Dr The Singh Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 Sol Campbell agreed to let them just rip the five year deal up. He's not making stupid amounts from quitting this early. Very true, I don't think it's the money, he obviously doesn't like what he got himself into, whether it be the level he's playing at, the coaching role, or the management.................................................
Guest Bilo Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 Good luck getting a coaching job Mr Campbell cos you sure as shit won't find a playing role anywhere. Not even at QPR.
lou Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 Good luck getting a coaching job Mr Campbell cos you sure as shit won't find a playing role anywhere. Not even at QPR. Nah plenty of clubs will be daft enough to sign him . Newcastle probably
Radovan's Caravan Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 Good luck getting a coaching job Mr Campbell cos you sure as shit won't find a playing role anywhere. Not even at QPR. I think that you'll find that he already had that base covered - if you'll pardon the expression
Guest Bilo Posted 23 September 2009 Posted 23 September 2009 Nah plenty of clubs will be daft enough to sign him . Newcastle probably Maybe but he's 35, proved at Notts that he gets a strop on if he doesn't play and will command high wages. Sounds like a perfect signing for Newcastle then.

Looks like the world's oldest football club is finally going to snuff it. Sheffield FC are the world's oldest football club. Notts County are the oldest professional league football club.
