Paul Gallagher has promised Leicester City fans there is much more to come from him.

And he is not the only one, as City boss Nigel Pearson has said he feels his entire side is yet to fulfil its potential.

Gallagher has admitted it has taken him a little time to settle in his new surroundings since joining from Blackburn Rovers last month. The 25-year-old has also been used in a variety of roles by Pearson and is yet to notch his first goal for his new club.

However, ahead of today's Championship encounter at Watford (3.0), Gallagher believes once the back of the net has bulged once for him, he will push on and show what he is really capable of.

"I have enjoyed it but I don't think I have hit the ground running, which I would have liked to have done," he said.

"There is definitely more to come from me. I will get judged on my goals so that is one thing I need to do, start scoring.

"I would have liked to have got a goal to my name but, as long as the team is winning and we are staying up there in the league, then so be it.

"I suppose I have to get used to the players more and know the lads a bit better. I had heard of them but never played with them before.

"With the games coming thick and fast I haven't trained with them that much. I have only trained a few times.

"The more training sessions I have with the lads the better the relationships will be, and I will get to know how people play."

Gallagher did everything but score during Tuesday night's draw with Peterborough United, and he is hoping for more luck today at Vicarage Road.

"It was one of those games where the ball wouldn't go in," he said.

"The keeper made a few saves and I hit the bar, but you get that in football and it is how you come back and produce again. Hopefully next time I will hit the back of the net."

Pearson has no doubt that Gallagher will get up and running in the goalscoring charts and is backing the Scotland international to break his duck soon.

"I have no doubt he will score soon," said Pearson.

"His free-kick at Newcastle was well saved and he had a couple of good efforts well saved against Peterborough. He hit the bar for the eventual penalty as well. He just needs to keep going and I have no doubt in my mind of the qualities he brings to the club."

Pearson has been pleased with his side's solid start, but added he feels they can produce even better performances in the coming weeks.

"We have done pretty well but I think there is more to come from us," said Pearson, whose side go to Watford looking for their first away win of the season.

"I look at ourselves and it is all about whether we are maximising our own potential.

"I know we can be competitive and I have every confidence in this group of players we have and the support for the team as well.

"It is a tough division and it is too early to make assumptions as to who will be the front-runners are.

"The teams that have been relegated from the Premier League have all had very good starts, and there are a number of teams who have shown promise so far, and we are one of those teams.

"But it is very early days and there is a long way to go."

He is a very good player at this level and once he gets settled in a position, scores, he won't stop scoring...

Nigel Pearson may have unlocked the secrets to unleashing Paul Gallagher's full potential as an attacking force.

The Leicester City boss has used the Scotland international in a variety of positions since his arrival from Blackburn Rovers last month and Gallagher has admitted he has not made the impact he was hoping to so far.

However, Gallagher has looked more effective in the last two games, at home to Peterborough and at Watford on Saturday, after being given a floating role behind the main strikers, Matty Fryatt and Steve Howard.

Gallagher was particularly dangerous in the first half at Vicarage Road and provided chances for Howard and Fryatt before his slide-rule pass unlocked the Hornets defence and sent Fryatt on his way to his second goal of the game.

He was moved back into a wide position in the second half as Watford forced City back and was not as effective as a result, but Pearson said he may look at using Gallagher in his first-half role again.

"I don't know yet (if that is Gallagher's best position), but he showed some great qualities in there in the first half," Pearson said.

"After five minutes we changed the shape because we thought we could maybe utilise Paul there somehow. We were very good in the first half, but ultimately it is not just about playing nice football, it is about winning games, and we didn't do it."

Gallagher has repeated the mantra that he is happy to play his part in whatever position Pearson chooses as long as he is in the team, but there is no doubt he is enjoying the freedom of his floating role.

"I very much like playing in the hole behind the strikers," he said. "I played there quite a lot last season for Plymouth and scored a lot of goals there.

"It is a team game, so whatever the manager decides I have to deal with it. I do enjoy playing there because I get a bit more of the ball and feel more involved.

"I played wide left quite a bit at the other clubs I have been at. It is one of those where you have to do a job for the team, and try to enjoy it at the same time.

"I played up front for the first couple of games after I came here and I enjoyed that as well. I have to see how the manager wants to pick the team. If it is on the left or down the middle, I have to get on with it."

I was particularly impressed with him on saturday, good player

we played them like that for his 1st couple of games, wasn't the worst partnership but it had no height or pace, I'd like to see Waghorn replace Howard, thought he and Fryatt looked good away at Sheffield United

And swapping Waghorn for Howard will add height will it.

He is brilliant in that hole, love him.

Brings people in too play, see's more of the ball and gets shots away.

if i remember correctly from what the blackburn fans posted, he has been known to score from distance, which would make sense playing in that position.

If Waghorn plays for Howard then we'd have to play it on the ground more. Swap Brown for Tunchev and we might actually do that. I take it Wellens is out for Saturday?

He played well in the hole, but for me needs to be just that bit further forward.

More a striker dropping off, than an attacking midfield position if you see what I mean.

Gallagher strength is playing the ball on the floor, Howard is neither deft enough to show for the short pass, nor has he the pace to run the channels, N'Guessan or Waghorn for me supporting Fryatt.

Sadly with Wellens unlikely to feature it could well be back to 4-4-2, so if he does get a start it may well be on the left. Again

I don't like the comment about being happy to do this or that "so long as he is in the team".

I'm quite sure every other player wants to be in the team. Perhaps N'Guessan, Dyer, Gradel, King, Morrison and Adams should come out with the same comment and see how that goes down.

If Gallagher wants to be in the team it might help if he scores some goals. N'Guessan's got three so far and has to make do with a seat on the bench.

Kingy played every game but one last season (scoring 11 from mostly deep midfield) and helped us to promotion but has only had two full-scale outings so far and Dyer's goals and efforts towards our success last season seem long forgotten.

Gallagher may or may not be successful as our man "in the hole" but he's certainly no winger and still doesn't look like a 90-minute man.

With no goals in six games so far I'd say the best thing Gallagher can do is get his head down and show us that it was worth us signing him.

Cos all we're doing at the moment is steadily slipping off the pace and slowly amassing a backlog in our goals difference column, compared to the teams above us. Losing two goal leads doesn't help in that respect but nor does a striker who doesn't score regularly.

He's got a cracking shot on him, unlucky with a dip against Posh last week.

My only question with Gallagher is whether we can fit him into our side regularly. If he plays in the hole, we're lacking wingers because you'd struggle to find a reason to drop Oakley or Wellens for him. Without wingers, we're as well to play Waggy instead of Howard because there's no-one to aim crosses at and Waggy would be better running through onto Gallaghers or the midfielders passes.

It's the sort of selection headache that troubles me on Championship Manager all the time :rolleyes:

did you not read what I said? I said height or pace, no he doesn't add height but I wonder which other attribute he does have?
