tartanowl Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 Rubbish and you could tell by just watching him in pre season and for the people sticking up for him You were the goons who wanted to keep Holloway because he was the man to keep us up or were the planks who reckon Peter Gilbert weren't that bad. I hate you people. Probably the worst left back I have ever seen at Hillsborough and that is saying something. Bombscare footballer.
Daggers Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 Doesn't seem like anyone missed him yesterday. Maybe he can use the time productively to focus on improving his game - all the bits which don't involve just throwing a ball.

Oakley sent in a very long throw in the second half, so we're not missing Neilson on that count. I prefer Morrison, okay he's not a right-back but he hasn't let us down in the two matches we've just played.

I've said from the off that Oakley's got a better throw, Neilson needs to find something to bring to the table.
haraven Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 I read the title as "Robbie Neilson - The New Alan Partridge" Partridge usually catches my attention, Maybury I had totally forgotten about.

Bluefoxtim Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 About Oakley having a long throw yesterday... wasn't it just a case of the Coventry pitch being very, very narrow?
potter3 Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 I feel more secure as well. I always thought that Gilbert used to go and wonder. Sometimes, Gilbert got caught out of position but his pace made up for it. Robbie Nielson hasn't got that pace so it shows more than Gilbert. Yes he doesn't have pace as an asset, so he can't afford to be caught out of position. You can't use that as an excuse, and you can't dismiss it from Gilbert's game.
Father Ted Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 What does Nigel Pearson see in this clown? The he-she offers absolutely nothing. The only things that he is "supposedly" good at are 'crunching people' and 'throw-ins'. Hmmmmm... Michael Morrison MUST play on Tuesday. Nielson, please go back to Scotland.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 Yet another Robbie Neilson Appreication Thread. To be honest, i don't think he was the worst player on the pitch today. The way Brown backs off defenders is worrying, not Robbie Neilson.
lou Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 Hes been playing well lately, today they were all shite barring Weale and Waggers

I don't think choosing to play a centre back at right back though is the way forward. Nielson had an off day, like most out there today. If one was the best, perhaps, Waghorn.

It took Neilson a long time to win me over, as at the start of the season, everytime he got the ball, I would end up following through or end up with my head between my knees. I was worried by his ability. But after a few solid games, I feel now that, hes won me over.
Father Ted Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 Hes been playing well lately, today they were all shite barring Weale and Waggers NO he has not!!!! He is a liability.

At times, he doesn't have a right winger in front of him.
The Doctor Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 NO he has not!!!!He is a liability. explain how. He's a solid defender, rarely puts a foot wrong and isn't english. what's not to like?
Guest Mee-9 Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 explain how. He's a solid defender, rarely puts a foot wrong and isn't english. what's not to like? I'm a fan of him. But theres 1 thing people don't like about him. He's scottish.

The Doctor Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 I'm a fan of him. But theres 1 thing people don't like about him. He's scottish. that's a good thing. It means he's not english. you look at the home nations and generally the scots are reasonably good at producing defenders it's the laughable shit keepers (rough, leighton) that let us down.
Karljohn Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 explain how. He's a solid defender, rarely puts a foot wrong and isn't english. what's not to like? Spent a few minutes watching only Neilson, player cam style! against Plymouth recently, during a rare Plymouth foray into our half his positional sense was piss poor, he failed to close down and allowed 2 Plymouth crosses into the box, he was nowhere near their winger. He is unsteady, looks uncomfortable and out of his depth at times, lacks composure and adds nothing to our team, often finding himself in no mans land. Michael Morrison must be wondering as I am sure are many others, Max, Gallagher, Adams etc just exactly what they have to do to get a starting spot.
Corky Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 Neilson has improved of late, but I prefer Morrison, so I'd give him a chance now.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 December 2009 Posted 5 December 2009 Yet another Robbie Neilson Appreication Thread. To be honest, i don't think he was the worst player on the pitch today. The way Brown backs off defenders is worrying, not Robbie Neilson. Neilson was always gonna struggle because of the pace they have down that side in Anderson, and the fact Neilson wasnt given any help as there wasnt any wingers on the pitch. The games he has been best in Oakley or N'Guessan have mainly been playing in front of him in a 4-4-2 rather than this narrow formation with no width what so ever. Brown seems to have this habit of being a rock for 3/4 games then having a shit game, and I agree trhe way he backs off is worrying. Hes been playing well lately, today they were all shite barring Weale and Waggers This.

This. Was it the Preston game when he gifted them a goal? Then went off with an injured shoulder. It squashed his confidence that did, but then he came back to the squad and seemed to play like John Terry on steriods. Just a slight exaggeration.
