Was it the Preston game when he gifted them a goal? Then went off with an injured shoulder. It squashed his confidence that did, but then he came back to the squad and seemed to play like John Terry on steriods. Just a slight exaggeration.

He was generally poor in September, gifting Blackpool a goal, and having a shocker against Watford and Posh.

I think that was the Posh game he got injured in. He again he got done for pace over and over and ended up giving away a penalty and Tunch came on and sorted it.

I think agaisnt the bigger, not so quick strikers Brown is good but we need to play Tunch (when fit) or Morrison instead.

What does Nigel Pearson see in this clown?

The he-she offers absolutely nothing.

The only things that he is "supposedly" good at are 'crunching people' and 'throw-ins'. Hmmmmm...

Michael Morrison MUST play on Tuesday.

Nielson, please go back to Scotland.

Oi!!!

You and me usually are found singing off the same hymn sheet. What's going on here?!?!

The problem with the team is not the back 4.

It's not the strikers either.

It's the balance across midfield, and it isn't there. Ok, so Nielson may not be the quickest, but when there's a lack of cover in front of the fella, it's not surprising to see him struggling a bit.

As I've said before, we're pretty solid defensively, but the team as an attacking force is far more worrying a prospect to be dealing with at the minute imo.

It was all of these things today

This.

Hence the reason all their attacks came down the wings, and we had a midfield which was so narrow we were exposed.

I rate Neilson, and tbh If the proble wasn't the back 4, then how come we let 5 pretty bad goals in.

Due to lack of support down the channels from the midfield. As we had no out and out wingers we were exposed.

The games we have defended best in are when we have had wingers tracking back and helping the full backs out. E.g. QPR away when we played 4 across the middle with Waghorn coming back as well down the right helping to stop their pacy wingers. A ploy which in hindsight should have been carried out today as this formation we are currently using doesnt work.

Both your full backs were utter bobbins. Not sure if it was that everyone was bobbins or that they are actually utter bobbins but I'd be concerned.

Last season we had two centre backs playing as full backs and got slaughtered by anyone with fast tricky wingers.

Who in their right mind would give him a 3 year contract after doing some research, I'm assuming research was done? That's what I'd like to know.

There are players in Sunday league with more technical ability.

He does a job but not the best. Morrison is a better bet. Neilson gets in good attacking positions yet can't cross. When he's up the pitch and loses the ball he's way out of position and there was no cover from Oakley. The team set up on saturday and several other matches does little to hide his weaknesses (lack of skill and pace) leaving us woefully exposed ion the right flank.

N'Guessen and gallagher need to be on wing to support him not this ridiculous system of playing 3 centre midfielders.

We've played with 3 cm quite successfully for most of the season so it can be done. I think you need the right players for that though. two wide men with enough pace and energy to create a 5 man mid when you lose the ball and then be able to break and a big lump to hold it up front. Also, you'll need an attack minded cm to support the lone forward.

We played that formation against Newcastle and restricted them to about 3 shots all game. I'm not sure it suits the players you've got though.

No point in slating Neilsen, he is just not good enough, we need better options at Right back, simples! It is a must for January.

It's true I don't know who else we would play at right back. Morrison is a centre back, and everyone complains about NP playing people out of position.

He is a limited player but he is going to look exposed with no wide midfielders to support him, he is being overrun, Bruno too, whenever the opposition full back pushes on.

Signing a better right back in January is not a bad thing, but unless we sign a world class right back he is going to be exposed if he is being doube teamed by the opposing full back and winger. By all accounts Bruno was just as exposed as Neilsen on Saturday, and Morrison will not do much better unless he has the support of a wide midfielder.

explain how.

He's a solid defender, rarely puts a foot wrong and isn't english. what's not to like?

oh. my. Goodness. Me.

i really wonder how anyone can come to that opinion of him.... i really do... and im not just saying that to be awkward...

Even in a 1 on 1 unless he gets a tackle in straight away he will not come out on top 9 times out of 10. He is at best a League 1 player. No team looking to challenge for a playoff sport would have such a weak player in their starting 11, with no other out & out option to replace him. At least we only have 1 poor right back than 6 right backs playing everywhere but right back!

Does anyone Know why we didnt get gilbert on loan again from arsenal??? was quality for us last season.

I reckon it's because we signed Captain Spastic for free.

On Saturday, even his throws were shit.

Decent shout. Knows this level well too having been loaned out to Cardiff a couple of years back.

Captain Spastic is a compliment in my opinion. Fecking useless.

To be fair it's not just his job to defend the right hand side. He needs more help from the midfield, but nobody's seen them since the QPR game.

Gilbert wanted to stay at Arsenal in a hope of developing himself there but hasn't had much game-time.

He now wants to leave to go to another prem club in Jan or summer and rejected Champ clubs in summer just gone.
