Fox92 Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 I am. Neilson tries hard but isnt good enough I don't think Gilbert is any better though, his pace got him out of bad situations. Remember, Gilbert also had Matt Oakley tracking back on the right, and N'Guessan doesn't do this for Nielson.

Fox92 Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 This is true and Gilbert would be knocked off the ball. Far too lightweight. Yep, just like DJ Campbell did as well. Nielson is far stronger, in every way apart from pace, than Gilbert.
dimmerchant Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 He lacks pace, and ability. He has determination and composure. I have determination and composure but that doesn't get me in the team. Morrison is a much better option. He is quicker, better technically, bigger and has decent strength.

Gilbert was a better player than Neilsen, and his pace was 1 of the reasons for this.
Fox92 Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 How many times have you said this?Gilbert was a better player than Neilsen, and his pace was 1 of the reasons for this. I will say it more untill people stop getting on at Nielson. How can you say Gilbert was a better player than Nielson when it's a different division? What exactly has Nielson done wrong compared with the likes of N'Guessan? I have seen Nielson play against Sheffield United, Barnsley, Newcastle United, Peterborough United, Preston North End and Blackpool and he has only given one bad performance, but was probably the worst of a bad bunch. Well, second/third or fourth worst. How many times have you seen him play? And why was he as bad as your making out? We haven't got Gilbert. END OF.
Narborough Bod Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 What made me laugh and it doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean he should have done it but it just made me laugh the kop shouted "SHOOOOT" he shot, then you just heard a load of moans and groans (Deservedly) but it'd just be interesting to find out what cocks shouted shoot then to go on and moan and groan about him. I just turned round and asked the rows behind me who had shouted shoot, and then questioned whether any of them had actually been watching his performance over the past 90 minutes. Clowns.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Rubbish and you could tell by just watching him in pre season and for the people sticking up for him You were the goons who wanted to keep Holloway because he was the man to keep us up or were the planks who reckon Peter Gilbert weren't that bad. I hate you people.

Muz Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 I am not looking forward to Adam Johnson v this goon. Pants round ankles.

And I will be one of them. As this is the appreciation thread I appreciate that he is hard working, a big trier but ultimately shite.

I guess you have more patience than most but seriously he is cack and not up to the job. END OF. He's got Adam Johnson to deal with. Adam Johnson is a Premiership player. He came up against Wallace on Saturday, who is a quality player. I think most full backs in this division can't deal with Adam Johnson. When have you seen him live this season, and why was he 'cack'? Because I can only recall Saturday when also, the rest of team where 'shite'.
marbelladave Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 As I said above, Neilson is a decent but limited player. Ask him to play a largely defensive role and he is fine, as an attacking wingback, not so good... Against Boro he need to do what it takes to mark his winger without having to worry about getting forward too much. Set the team up to reflect this. Personally I would opt for a 3 man midfield of Oakey---King---Wellens if fit. Up front I would play N'guessan and either Dyer or Waghorn either side of Fryatt. I would not ask either of them to drop too deep but to do their defensive work by pressing upfield. Just asking players to play their natural game, why not!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Why blame Nielson? Blame N.P. He picks the team , and he brought him here. Start getting on his back instead, if you have to get on anybody's.

Budweiser Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Give him TIME. (I've gone back on what i've said twice!)
Legend_in_blue Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 I can't understand the logic behind slating Nielson's performances this season. He's pretty solid at defending after all - that's what a right back does. As for N'Guessan, Nielson is trying to do his own job and half of N'Guessan's from what I've seen. N'Guessan has been worse than Neilson this season. But there appear to be two reasons which make this irrelevant. 1 N'Guessan has scored goals. 2 N'Guessan has made a jump up two divisions. I don't care if he's scored two goals or jumped up two divisions, in terms of doing his job for the team so far, he has been totally ineffective. He's made an impact as sub, granted, but his allround play has been ineffective from the start of games. Yet it doesn't matter, he's scored two goals and jumped up two divisions. This is excusable. This is acceptable. This is better than Nielson. As I said at the top, the logic behind it all is bizarre to say the least.
Katy Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 I don't appreciate the fact that he is slow, error prone and the new Alan Maybury.
