Ozwin Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 What went through his head in the last few minutes of the match, shooting from outside the area? Give me strength, he has no technical ability whatsoever, I had my head in my hands before he'd struck the ball. and that tackle on Wallace was a shocker, made me laugh when everyone around the stadium was booing a bloke that had blood pouring down his leg! He was like 2 metres from the side of the pitch, he could have gone off.
Koke Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 He's a squad player at best. Morrison is a CB by trade, but he'd do a far better job than Neilson at RB. Neilson works hard, he tries, but he's a very limited footballer and his inept displays is hard to defend. He's our biggest weakness.

What made me laugh and it doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean he should have done it but it just made me laugh the kop shouted "SHOOOOT" he shot, then you just heard a load of moans and groans (Deservedly) but it'd just be interesting to find out what cocks shouted shoot then to go on and moan and groan about him.

He's very similar to Howard and Brown technically wise. Made me laugh when people were screaming for a peno when Fryatt went down, when he was blatantly looking for it and dived.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 He was like 2 metres from the side of the pitch, he could have gone off. Let's ignore the colour of the shirts here. One man kicks another man in the leg so forcefully that he draws blood. And you were irritated that he didn't limp off the pitch so play could resume? What if that was a Leicester player who had to go off for a couple of minutes of treatment due to a terrible tackle from an opposition player? What if that had happened to us and we'd conceded a goal during that time? I didn't understand the booing in the slightest. Plus it was 0-0 at that stage! Bizarre.

Fox92 Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I actually think Maybury was better than Neilson. Morrison played well against Swansea without having any problems and has since seemed to disappear along with Gradel. The performance from Neilson yesterday was the worst individual one I have seen since NP came to the club. I will become increasingly annoyed if he continues to pick this liability ahead of Morrison. I wouldn't say that Morrison played well against Swansea. From what I recall, he got caught out of position a few times, and yes, so did Gilbert, but Gilbert's pace made up for this and that won't happen in this league. I love Morrison, but you can't play a centre back, a good centre back, at full back. And, Gradel's not good enough. Give Dany N'Guesson A chance to settle in, Hes scored three goals which is a good record for a winger, I aggree he does have his off days, But it must be hard rising up two leagues. It's only hard rising up from League 2 if you are not good enough? Surely? And N'Guessan isn't good enough. Simple as. You could see Oakley screeming at him at times to run down the right and he wasn't. As he comes inside, it is what often makes Nielson look like a bad player as well, when he isn't. Neilson seems to have been at fault for every goal we have conceded. Two goals from what I make out have been Nielson's fault, both at Watford. It's doing my nut in how everyone nearly is going on about Gilbert, FFS, we had this with Marton Fulop. Gilbert's pace got him out of his mistakes, but overall, Nielson is a better full back. Wheres the N'Guessan is the new Sylla thread?

Well that is already better than Neilson who is never actually in position, and I don't see how you can make that conclusion about Gilbert.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 To be honest, when he shot from outside the area, i said " of all players but that birk" If he was like brown and stayed back holding the line, he wouldnt get half the abuse. But he runs up the can't get back. I'm not saying Brown is the worlds best defender, he's far from it, but i have seen the difference between SPL and english footy.
Jimmy Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 it seems people on here are never happy with our right backs, pretty much everyone since O'Neill left and we went back to 4-4-2 have been disliked

Legend_in_blue Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Quite frankly, the abuse this guy has been getting is totally out of order. It's about time someone on here gave the guy some credit. He's been pretty solid for us so far. You can call him this and that but there were people on here moaning at the fact that he didn't get forward enough in the first few games. Now these people moan about him getting forward and then not getting back quickly enough. Some people are never satisfied. As NP says, he's not going to start singling out individual performances this early on in the season, rightly so, and Neilson has not been the worst performer out there either. As a right back he has been solid, going forward not quite as, but then due to limitations in front of him, I won't name names, that's obvious who I'm refering to, he's having to do two peoples jobs at once. He ain't no Cafu. Give the guy a break. I hope he goes and scores in the next game. That'll shut some people up. Legend.
AjcW Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I like him. Think he was the best of a bad bunch yesterday.

I like him, and he was decent against Swansea.

Gilbert's pace got him out of his mistakes, but overall, Nielson is a better full back. Completely agree. I think Nielson has done as well as you would expect considering he has had no support at all from the winger, in this case N'Guessan. I feel so much more secure having Nielson in the team than I ever did when Gilbert was here.
Stueyt74 Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Everyone loved Gilbert Come back No. I really didn't love him.

Legend. disagree wrongly so - if people make continuous mistakes then then they deserve to be replaced. its just a shame we dont have a decent replacement... a natural RB. thats the only reasons he still has a place in the starting line up.... If Jack Hobbs can be dropped ( he seems to of been singled out for his performances by being dropped) then Nielsen can consider himself very lucky to still be playing.
Maybes Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I hope you're legend remark was sarcastic. Hes not a bad player, has done okay thus far.
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I hope you're legend remark was sarcastic.Hes not a bad player, has done okay thus far. Have had a few drinks and was annoyed to read yet another great barrage of comments, mostly negative, aimed at Neilson. It would be good to see him approach legendary status at the club, just to rub peoples noses in it!
flanimal Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I was surprised Neilson shot though. Scored 1 goal in 200 appearances when he was at Hearts. Not the best odds.

marbelladave Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Neilson is a decent player, limited but decent. It is the modern way. Someone has to take the blame when things go wrong and right now it is Neilson, doesn't get forward enough, gets forward too much, can't play the final ball (penalty at Watford?) etc etc. Bollox. It could not possibly be poor tactics, lousy team shape of lack of organisation, could it? No that's far too difficult to deal with, lets just blame someone, its easy, no brains required!
