StanSP Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 Pearson said there was nothing "imminent" in regard to Davids' signing for City with the player also being courted by other clubs."There is interest from us and, likewise, from the player. Whether it materialises into a move is a completely different matter and there is still quite a way to go. "Things can move quickly but, at the moment, it is not imminent so it would not be appropriate to speculate. I'll leave that to others." However you read into this, it ain't happening today.
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 Typical NP playing down the situation. A little reverse psychology going on here. This conflicts with what the agent says and BBC Radio Leicester are very quiet this morning. It's just NP playing games - this is further on than we might be led to believe. Think about it - How many weeks of negotiations should it take? It's been going on as hush hush for at least three. NP wants it all hush hush before it's announced, that's all. And there's an important game tonight - he wants everyone's focus on the right thing.
Hitesh Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 From OSLeicester City boss, Nigel Pearson, insists the imaginative idea of Edgar Davids coming to the Walkers Stadium has some way to go before, or even if, it happens. Ever since word of contact between the club and the former European superstar was revealed by Pearson earlier this week, the Blue Army are talking of little else, but a cautious Pearson said: "There has been interest. Whether anything materialises is neither here nor there. I couldn't tell you because there would be still quite a way to go and we will see what happens." "Things can move quickly in football but it would be wrong for me to speculate further. There has been interest from the club, likewise interest from the player. Whether it materialises into a move or not is a different matter." "At this moment in time there is nothing further to add. If there is anything to pass on we will do that at the appropriate time but as it stands at the minute there is nothing to add." "I know there has been interest but it is one of those things, as it is with all players that we have had interest in, that there will be a time, or there may be a time that I can say more but I don't think it is the right time to talk in any greater depth on the subject." The 36-year-old midfielder has been out of action for a long time so he will have to come up to the high standards of fitness and character which is the hallmark of Pearson's competitive squad and he said: "As with all our signings that we have made or targets we look at, they have to meet certain criteria and this one will be no different." "There is still a way to go if anything does happen. I don't believe in publicity stunts, I don't believe in players coming in who don't meet that criteria and I can understand there being interest in this but until there comes a time when there is something more concrete I don't see any point in me speculating any further." Maddog, Are you all reading this!
Dr The Singh Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 davieG should have gone to speculate savers I think davieG has been taking the same stuff RObbie Williams did before his x factor appearance!

Smerklo Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 Looks like nothing today then, or even this week Although you know how the old saying goes "Edgar comes to those who wait".

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 The longer the situation goes on, the likelyhood of him coming here, decreases. A big brother club is likely to step in. Oh well, what will be, will be.
willchafer Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 if he signs im opening up my own goggle company...ill make millions!
dandannieldanok Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 Why don't the club just drop it now, he isn't nowhere near worth this amount of bother. If our form slips now because Pearson is too busy faffing around with something that thankfully isn't likely to happen, then I'll be pretty pissed off.

I would say we have slipped slightly already. 10 points in 7 games isn't that great. Lets hope we win tonight and it will look much better. Plus the table will read a lot better, we will be 5th instead of 10th with 3 points.

Well there you go then, even more reason to just scrap this stupid move.
