Webbo Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale-7Not a lot to do tbh Neilson-7.5 had a good game but I'm sure others will disagree. Hobbs-7.5 so consistent. Brown-8 not a lot to chose between the defence today but Brown just shades it MOTM Berner-7.5 a rock. Kermorgant-7.5 impressed A King-7 scored the winner not a lot else imo. Wellens-7 always looking for the killer pass but Plymouth crowded the midfield and defence. Gallagher-6.5 Fryatt-6.5 Waghorn-6.5 Subs: Howard-5 Adams N/A N'Guessan-5
dandannieldanok Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale 6 Neilson 5 (struggles to pass) Brown 7 (lucky not to have gave a penalty away, otherwise a very good performance) Hobbs 7 (pretty comfortable day for him) Berner 7 (solid) Gallagher 6 (all over the midfield but never managed to have an impact) Wellens 6 (meh) King 6 ("Heroic" according to Ian Stringer , was actually anonymous rather than heroic until the dying seconds) Kermorgant 5 (Way off the pace, not really sure why he was in the team) Fryatt 5 (nowhere all game) Waghorn 6 (typical waghorn, strength and pace but not great ball control) N'Guessan 6 (needed longer, i.e. the whole game) Howard 5 (no impact.....again) Adams (brought on too late)
JoeyB Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale - 6 - didnt have much to do Neilson - 7.5 - best game i have seen him play, looked better going forward Bruno - 7.5 - solid Brown - 8 - Brilliant, these to are a great pairing Hobbs - 8 - " " " Galle - 6 - was in and out the game in stages, some nice touches but nothing special King - 7.5 - looked better, kept moving and deserved the goal Wellens 7.5 - looked good today Yann - 8 - Brill, won most of his headers, would have loved him had his volley gone in Fryatt - 6 nothing special Waggy - 6 didnt seem to do much

MPH Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale - 6 1/2 Dont feel able to give him a 7 because he didnt really have anything to do Nielsen - 6 was turned and left stranded a couple of times in the 1st half. Worrying. Hobbs. - 7 1/2 Very good Game. Brown - 7. Good game. decent distributuon for once! Berner. 7 Good and solid game.. great covering at the back and really showed his class. Gallagher -6 Ineffectual. Not his fault really, he was out wide on the left. Wellens - 6 Maybe i am being mean on this one, but what did he actually contribute to the game? King - 7 Hustled all game long and got his rewards. Kermogrant7 The position he played ( behind the front 2) wasnt really suited to his strengths but he played himself into the game, far more mobile than Howard , got stuck in, went for what he could and forced me to give him a 7. Fryatt 6 Didnt do a thing all game... Waghorn 7 1/2 Played more like the striker who is worth 3m and the leading scorer than Fryatt did. N'Guessan - looked lively when he came in and was involved straight away. Howard. Looked Poor, unintrested, off the pace, innefectual and like a man who knows he will be gone in January.
Bugg Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Nielsen - 6 was turned and left stranded a couple of times in the 1st half. Worrying Why the consistent slating of Nielson, He was solid today. Yes he made about 1 or 2 bad passes but players do that all the time. I think cause he was poor at the start that people think he will be poor before the game and don't actually pay attention to the performance.
Ozwin Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 He doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, we could definately do better and I reckon Pearson will do something about it come January.

Yes he made about 1 or 2 bad passes but players do that all the time.I think cause he was poor at the start that people think he will be poor before the game and don't actually pay attention to the performance. I have a smile to myself when people urge him to shoot from distance, he is never going to score from outside the box.
Legend_in_blue Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale - 7 - Played his part as a spectator well. Nielson - 8 - Legend in the making. Solid. Brown - 8 - Come and get some. Solid. Hobbs - 8 - 'Av it. Solid. Berner - 8 - Mr Intelligence. Solid. King - 6 - Didn't notice him much. Tidy performance. Wellens - 6 - Played well enough. Difficult to pass through 11 men behind the ball. Gallagher - 5.5 - A bit hit and miss on the field. Took some good corners though. Kermorgant - 7 - Tres bien. Encore! Waghorn - 8 - Constant menace throughout. Why he was substituted before '5 touches too many Fryatt' is beyond me. Fryatt - 4 - Terrible. Subs: These were made too late into the game to have any impact. N'Guessan - 6 Howard - 6 Adams - 6 A pretty dire performance matching a pretty dire opposition in Plymouth in what were pretty dire weather conditions. Our performance was promising in clusters of minutes here and there but often degenerated into nothing - which pretty much sums up the greeeen armeee! NP got out jail with this one. A lucky win imo. Still, 3 points in the bag and 3rd after a performance like this, I'll take that.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale- 6 Didnt do anything what so ever! Neilson- 7 Solid game. Hobbs- 8 Strong as always, and committed Brown- 8 Natural leader of the backline Berner- 8 One awesome last ditch tackle and was billaint throughout. MOM for me Kermorgant- 7 Looked promising in the 1st half, less about him in the 2nd though A King- 7.5 Consistent again, extra .5 for the goal Wellens- 7 One woeful pass but I still dont think he has benn great since September. Gallagher- 6 Not really in the game, but always tried. Fryatt- 6.5 Ran around, should have scored. Waghorn- 6.5 Chased everything. Subs: Howard- 5 Should have been brought on 10 mins earlier. Adams - N/A N'Guessan- 5 One good rujn down the left.

Plymouth are no championship superpower..... Solid, he wasnt. But he DID improve in the 2nd half i'll give you that..

acooling08 Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale - 7 - Nothing to do Berner - 8 - Solid as always Hobbs - 8 - Solid and made few crucial tackles Brown - 8 - Always there to head clear. Neilson - 8 - Great defensively and good going forward. If you think he did badly today then your a twat. King - 7 - Wasn't too impressed but he was there to score I suppose. Gallagher - 6 - Below his usual standard. Wellens - 7 - Again, under par. Kermo - 8 - Brilliant in the air and looks handy. Faded in 2nd half. Fryatt - 7 - Tried hard and had a good chance. Would have scored but for a cheating Plymouth handball. Waghorn - 7 - Looked good early on but faded in 2nd half. Subs: N'Guessan - 7 - Almost scored at the death and had a good run down the ring. Howard - 5 - Why bring him on? Did nothing. Adams - N/A - Not on for long enough but looked bright & his cross led to the goal.
Karljohn Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale 7 - Hardly anything for him to do today. Neilson 6 - Can't control a football, and can't close down a cross, seems to find himself in no mans land far too often. Hobbs 7.5 - Solid Brown 7.5 - Give him the captains armband permanently Berner 8 - Top Drawer Wellens 6 - Hardly found a blue shirt (apart from the one in Row C near the away dugout 1st half) with a series of woeful passes, no spacial awareness, dare I say a steady decline since late September.. King 7 - Popped up when we needed it most Gallagher 5.5 - Worst I have seen him in a city shirt, but unlucky with a 2nd half effort. Kermogant - 6.5 - Technically a country mile better than Howard Fryatt - 6 - Ineffective Waghorn - 7.5 - Works his socks off, looks more of a goal threat than Fryatt of late.

bluebeau Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Weale 7 Always there when called upon, what a signing! Neilsen 7 Good game, doesn't deserve the criticism he gets from some. Hobbs 7 Mr Consistency Brown 8.5 MOM solid as a rock & good skipper Berner 8 The professor, cultured player, loved by the fans Kermorgant 6.5 Tried hard but difficult to create with 10 defenders around him Wellens 6 Definetly not as effective of late as he used to be, what's happened to him? Gallagher 6.5 Tries hard but had same problem as Kermo Fryatt 5.5 Plymouth kept him out of the game, well marshalled Waghorn 6.5 So much energy from this young fella, NP get him signed up asap Subs N'gessan 6.5 Useful player to bring off the bench Howard 5 Wasn't effective, won very little. Super Steve not very super at the moment Adams Can't mark him, not on long enough. He looked & played so well earlier in the season, deserves a start. Referee Twatt of the day by a country mile.

TrickyTrev Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 I thought we played really well today. If it had ended 0-0 it would have been a footballing travesty, we had all the chances and were patient in possession. Their first shot on goal was in the 90th minute and we should have had a penalty. Really liked the shape and I think the Fryatt/Waghorn partnership is progressing nicely. Plymouth were horrible and got what they deserved. Weale 7 Had little to do, but what little he did he did well. Nielson 7 One of his better games for City, attacking limitations were still there at times but it isn't his fault we were playing a narrow formation that required him to carry the ball forwards. Hobbs 7 An easier afternoon of Championship football he will not have. Brown 8 A calm performance without any moments of madness, one of those glorious days when he looked premier league and the pub player mistakes were absent. Gave a good interview afterwards as well, could tell he is an asset to the dressing room. Berner 8 How did no Championship clubs pick this guy up last summer? Still the best left back I have seen in this league. King 7 Didn't give the ball away all game and won plenty back, growing into Championship football. Goal a bonus. Wellens 7 Tried things, some of them came off and some of them didn't. People moan when he plays a pass to no one, but they don't appreciate that he plays far more difficult and probing passes than anyone else in our team. If someone is in space he wants to give it to them with pace and into their stride, if that means playing it with the outside of the boot or on the half volley then that is what he will do. if this came of all the time he'd be Xabi Alonso and playing for Real Madrid, rather than moaning that he isn't just be glad that we get to see a player with invention and guile. Gallagher 8 Great delivery, some beautifully weighted passes and an honest defensive shift. I like him as a midfield player. Yann 7 Wins as much ball as Howard but offers for the ball to feet and carries invention and the ability to break into the box. I think he is going to be useful in that he has a broad enough skill base to be a no.10 and a target man simultaneously. Fryatt 6 Wasn't really happening for him today but two moments stood out. One reverse pass which Waghorn failed to read showed a new side to Matty that we may have been denied the privilege of seeing when he was playing alongside Big Steve, the ability to link play and see short passes. A moment in the 2nd half was more a case of vintage fryatt; the ball was looping towards him in the box and it looked for all the world like he would attempt a speculative volley. Instead he feigned the shot and moved past the defender in the same deft touch, he was only denied a goal by a last ditch block that probably involved a hand ball. Waghorn 8 He can run channels, hold the ball back to goal, play on the shoulder, shoot from distance, dribble, whip in a decent ball and just about everything else. We haven't seen a more complete forward at city for a long time, must be a managers dream to know you can ask him to do whatever the system needs. ****Subs**** N'Guessen 7 Exactly the sort of impact you want from a substitue. In just af ew minutes he beat his man twice, both times winning corners. One of which he nearly scored from. He then won the header that led to the goal. Another versitile player that offers more than you might traditionally expect from a player in his position, Pearson is beginning to collect them! Howard 6 Won the header that led to the corner but struggled to get in the box from open play. Definitely found his role as an impact sub. Adams N/A
Koke Posted 21 November 2009 Posted 21 November 2009 Thought Gallagher's deliveries were very good. Good corners and good free kicks into the box.
