Kilworthfox Posted 8 December 2009 Share Posted 8 December 2009 There is a thread open, but this only gets a brief mention! Deserves its own thread!!!! Fed up of Simon Cowell's latest karaoke act being Christmas No.1? Me too... So who's up for a mass-purchase of the track 'KILLING IN THE NAME' from December 13th - 19th (DON'T BUY IT YET!) as a protest to the X-Factor monotony? h1210 Posted 8 December 2009 Share Posted 8 December 2009 I signed up to this about a week ago when there was 8 or 9 thousand members, just checked now and it's coming on 400,000! I think it's the same guys who tried to get Jeff Buckley to number 1 last year.

I think it's the same guys who tried to get Jeff Buckley to number 1 last year. So, basically what'll happen is a load of people will see their friends have joined the facebook group, have a quick chuckle at the idea of RATM at number one for Christmas, join the group themselves, and then about half a dozen people will actually bother to buy it. Sly Posted 8 December 2009 Share Posted 8 December 2009 I bet Rage Against The Machine are loving this. Big pay day coming their way. Why Rage Against The Machine though? I don't think it really matters that much anymore to be honest, now we are in a digital age, music is so much more accessible. It's not like when I was a lad and you'd nip to Woolworths to but a cassette!

To be fair, it got to number two so they had a good crack at it
C-man Posted 8 December 2009 Share Posted 8 December 2009 Why Rage Against The Machine though? Because Killing in the Name of's lyrics fit the slogan they've adopted. 'Fuck you I won't buy what you sell me' referring to X-Factor's dominance of recent Xmas Number 1s. Besides, who the fuck cares who's Number 1? Bit pathetic if you ask me. Darkzzz_ Posted 12 December 2009 Share Posted 12 December 2009 I like Simon Cowell and I don't blame him at all for doing what he does. I choose not to watch the Xfactor because I think it is shit; It doesn't appeal to me at all and I'd be pleased to see the back of it. The only real decent singer to emerge from this was Leona Lewis wasn't it?

Not a bad Christmas banger but I prefer the old "Jingle-Bell, Jingle-Bell, Jingle-Bell rock...". Think it's in Home Alone but can't remember what it's called.
