A lot of catholics in the UK will happily have sex before marriage, but refuse to use protection - surely you realise that is common? I agree, the 'pick and choose' style religion that a lot of people follow really winds me up - I have a friend whose girlfriend refuses to use protection because she's religious, but she already has a son from a previous boyfriend (no marriage!) and let's him do her up the wrong 'un. Surely there's something against that in the Bible?! I certainly don't see how this lets the Church off the hook - if a couple in Africa meet up and want to have sex (let's even say they marry first) but it's clear one of them is infected, the church's attitude is either don't have sex or catch Aids.

I think it;s more to do with Catholics being to tight and stingy to buy condoms or the fact that the church donations may go down, cus we all know catholics are constantly shagging each other, and buying condoms is not cheap!! Or cus catholic priests realise that using a condom dulls the sensation and interupts the sexual act which alot of em will find frustrating and hence will leave the faith!!

Complex issue is this. I'm catholic but have used condoms (dont need to know as wife has taken care of that dept). It's just part of my religion I ignore. I have no problem ignoring the rule - in time the church will change to my way of thinking on this issue. I see no problem. Dont know why so many non-catholics get het up about this. We all love a good shag. It's just like many laws - eg under age drinking - its still the law but we all did it/do it - doesnt mean we are going to move country and change our nationality!

Cheers Zubi - have just been talking to a mate about this topic and he had a genius idea, - an "english (multicultural) defence league" With the sole aim of defending the muticultural nature of Britain, eg, We go to the EDL / BNP marches and offer an alternative in which we celebrate all things multicultural in Britain, such as the sporting progress we make by having 2/3rd generation immigrants winning stuff for Britain in the olympics etc, highlight the contribution immigrants make to this country during and after the World Wars...etc etc...................this has legs this does Oh and we could make posters of fit mixed race ladies like Rihanna, Kardashians, Jessica Alba, Alicia Keys, Thandie Newton etc with slogans like "how can this be wrong?" That'll sway some over i'm sure...
