Really pleased for Gallagher.

Come in for a lot of unfair criticism, and I'm delighted he's bagged the hat-trick.

Waghorn and Gallagher should be a decent partnership without Fryatt. Steve, love him as I do, can stay on the bench please.

I can't see that previous criticism of Gallagher has been unfair. People have responded to what's happened. One hat-trick doesn't suddenly turn Gallagher into a centre-forward. Indeed he was an all-round contributor even today rather than an out-and-out striker.

Gallagher has a modest scoring record over the years and so far has been an occasional goalscorer for us. Today was one of those occasions and we're all absolutely delighted for him.

The bloke has skill and enthusiasm. He can pass the ball with a bit of flight, deliver a good free kick on ocasions and chip in with some wonderful goals as he's shown beforeand, again, today.

I don't doubt that confidence plays a part and sincerely hope he can score a bit more often. But if we keep getting the bodies in the box that I've been pleading for for so long, and which were suddenly to be seen today, it really doesn't matter who scores.

What matters is the number of people around to give us the chance of scoring and their willingness to take responsibility for trying.

Fantastic result and a great performance, we humiliated them in the first half in both the scoreline and the performance. Was a pleasure to watch us pop the ball about so quickly and accurately, the midfield really did look the business today. So pleased we managed to knock 5 in, hopefully that'll breed confidence. The good thing is that I think a few players were still playing within themselves for some periods of the match, so there could be more to come. Shame to concede such a soft goal but who cares....we scored 5 :D.

Can we try and not get carried away by one very good result. You're making the above conclusion based on one game without Fryatt, it can still all go wrong without him in the next four games or so. Just as we shouldn't over react when we lose or hit a bad patch, you can't go the other way either.

Fingers crossed we can get a little more carried away on Tuesday, when playing a Bristol City side that must be bereft of confidence (and I think the boss has lost his head and is not in it at the moment, following his offer resignation after the Cardiff mauling).

What's happened today has sod-all to do with Tuesday or any other day. I'm going to live for now and thoroughly enjoy the aftermath of a terrific display.

If the next one's shit I'll doubtless find the words to say so.

As I said last week, football,to me, is a roller-coaster of emotion. Why would I go to experience the sort of feelings that would register a flat line on a graph?

Shout out for Kermorgant too, I don't think he lost a header when he came on and should have scored instead of laying it off.

seemed to put the fight back into us when he came on when the other players had clearly switched off

Nice to finally get some goals.

Played slightly better than Tuesday, but just put away nearly all our chances, Gally was class today.

But this is just one game, and with 2 tough away games coming up, followed by a fooking HUGE home game, i'm keeping my feet firmly on the ground.

Although i'm certain we will finish 6th or higher now easily :D

We had some luck, scored some goals, but Scunny were fooking shit, although so were Doncaster.

maddog goddammit!!!

Its been a frickin decade since we last scored 5 in a game, and you want to keep your feet on the ground. Please do me a favour and sod that at least just for the night, and enjoy this great moment! :)

I really want to meet Maddog... he intrigues me!

Let's hope his bark is worse than his bite then.

Quality performance today, be nice to repeat that next home game.

Backed Morrison first scorer at 28/1 so well pleased.

Gallagher superb, as was Waggy, feared the worst when they had a great chance first minute but was delighted with the way we ripped them to bits first half.

What a Season!

Brilliant bloody news to wake up to. Gallagher showed in the Newcastle game to me that a big game wasn't far away good to see him getting his chance up front and taking it..

Geez that Emergency loan striker thread makes for good reading.

What a past 2 season's we've have!

:worship:

It's been said before, it'll hopefully be said many times for a long time to come but thank-you Mr Pearson :worship:

I've been saying for a long time it's about time we scored 5+ and hammered someone, it's happened today!

Quality performance today, allthough it was against a poor S****horpe side, we looked like scoring from every attack in the first half. 5 decent goals and not a bad game amongst the players including the subs. The key will be to follow it up with the next 3 away games. I'll be more then happy to take 5 points allthough i wouldn't be suprised if we took more.

Good game, but I didnt enjoy it anywhere near as much as the Blaackpool game but great result today.

Needed an early goal and as soon as the 3rd went in I was really hoping for 6/7 which it really should have been. But very pleased to see us score 5 for the first time in my life!

The defence was ok, complacent for the Scuny goal but then we were always going to takt the foot of the gas after HT.

Dyer probbaly should have but otherwise had a good game, Oakley played well once again, but even though Wellens was improved I still think he gives the ball away a lot.

Gallagher was great today and I actually cant believe we scored a free kick! His back header was amazing too! Hopefully that will enable him to start taking his chances as he did today and get some fans (including me) off his back.

Also very pleased the GD has improved somewhat and hopefully we can get a win on Tues to really get a run going again.

Well done boys, but it was all just too easy today!

Not even gonna give Maddogs post the reaction it deserves, as some have you have, he is a terrific wind up merchant.

A brilliant performance all round, passing, moving football. Play players in their correct positions and the rest they say is history!

Gallagher take your hat off son, a brilliant performance picking out players with quality crossfield passes time and time again. A deft touch, a flick and to cap

it all three quality goals!!! Deservedly showed why he is still rated as a Premiership player!

Matty Fryatt, who needs him????

From the Scunny OS

Iron manager Nigel Adkins cut a dejected figure after seeing his side thumped 5-1 at Leicester City on Saturday.

Michael Morrison headed the Foxes ahead early on, with Paul Gallagher (hat-trick) and Martyn Waghorn also notching.

The hosts were four goals ahead at the interval and although Sam Togwell pulled a goal back, Adkins felt it wasn't good enough.

He told The Iron Player: "We're very disappointed, particularly with the first half performance.

"We had a great chance in the second minute, as Gary Hooper was one on one and the goalkeeper made a save.

"We spoke before the game about not giving stupid free-kicks away because we were taking on a team who are very powerful in that regard, but we gave one away and ended up 1-0 down.

"From then on it was a wake-up call for a lot of people because in the first half we got a good mauling, it's as simple as that.

"The game was over at half-time so I decided to keep the same eleven on the pitch because in front of more than 20,000 people you're going to have to hurt and never want to feel as low as that again.

"We've been organised for the majority of the season but the first half performance was not acceptable.

"I started with a strong midfield quartet, with Paul Hayes in there too, so we could have five and dominate the middle of the park but we didn't do that.

"Credit to Leicester City because I felt they were superb.

"All the players are going to be hurting and we have to bounce back strongly now when we play Barnsley on Tuesday night."

Why do all these clubs feel we're so great from set pieces?

Delighted with today's performance, especially as I was exhausted after only getting back from Thailand at 7am this morning and almost stayed at home. We demonstrated today that we are more than capable of playing a competent passing and moving game, with players who want the ball.

Great performance, days like these seldom come in football. Everytime we attacked they shat themselves. I was watching their manager and he wanted to go home after 25 mins. We should milk nights like these. I cant wait to read the sunday papers.
