A manager should be able to do whatever he wants with his team and do what is best for his team. Anyway the 3 points they gained vs Burnley could be a worth a hell of a lot more than a suspended fine come the end of the season.

Any other opinions? Ridiculous. He has the right to pick whatever team he wants. Especially as the whole point was to rest players ahead of the Burnley game. Which they won 2-0. Why no fine for Ferguson / Wenger for fiedling weaker teams in cup competitions?

For example, regardless of the result... They were playing Hull in a match that Hull thought they'd have to win to stay up... Man Utd: Kuszczak, Rafael Da Silva (Eckersley 60), Neville, Brown, De Laet (Possebon 79), Nani, Fletcher, Gibson, Welbeck (Tosic 87), Martin, Macheda. Subs Not Used: Amos, Corry Evans, Drinkwater, James. I'm sure there must be examples where bigger sides have fielded weaker sides and not won, and not recieved a fine.

Infact, it was more important than the other 37 in many respects, with other sides relying on United beating Hull for their survival hopes. In the end it didn't matter, but no-one knew that when the team sheets were handed in.

Managers constantly tell you it's a squad game now and rotation is part and parcel of the 'long/arduous/congested' seasons nowadays. It's completely disrespectful to the players involved more than anything.

This makes it even more ridiculous Scudamore allows Man Utd to field a weaker team when that game rests on a team getting relegated, but when Wolves change their team for a game they know they are not going to win, they get a £25,000 fine slapped on them, as said before, it is also disrespectful for the Wolves players, its not as though McCarthy had picked up 11 random people off the street and made them play the game, they are part of the squad which means they have as much right to play in the team as any other of the players.
